A British Member of Parliament called for greater military support for France in Mali as a way of committing Paris in the event of an Argentine ‘invasion’ of the Falklands. However the British government downplayed any military attempt from Argentina and reiterated that no ground troops will put foot in the African country. Read full article

Shòuqle shòuqle©
and the warmonger/pirates statements to come from the usual posters, or an article about CFK claiming we want to go to war, will be coming in 3...2...1...
Jan 24th, 2013 - 08:08 pm - Link - Report abuse 0Very good question,
Jan 24th, 2013 - 08:10 pm - Link - Report abuse 0But alas the honest liberalised government of Cameron plays it down,
Would France come to our assistance or not,
Well how can you prove it,
1, if argentina invaded,[most unlikely]
So a blank promise is not enough, seeing as we brits help without condition,
So perhaps a joint French and royal navy training [out or Europe exercise]
In the south Atlantic, in the summer,
If anything, it would totally infuriate CFK and at the very least, a French militating of the south Atlantic,
But would it happen,
Well,
The French could out of respect or friendship, suggest such an exercise,
Still it’s the thought that counts,
But will she even think about it.
Mmmmmmm
After all,
he has just told em he loves Europe,
the least they could do,
is show a bit of affection ..lol.
How interesting. However the chance of a military invasion is slim. Less slim is the chance some sort of political stunt to attract attention. Sort of like a child's tantrum which is an appropriate analogy considering Argentina's president. Anyway, I can't imagine the UK would need help from France to fend off any kind of stunt from CFK and her son the Burger King.
Jan 24th, 2013 - 08:17 pm - Link - Report abuse 0I wonder if France sees a parallel between the Falklands and the other British territories in South Atlantic and their own territories in the Caribbean and South America.
I don't understand what help they would give. Even if the Argentinians with their stone age military somehow managed to take MP I thought it was planned for special forces to fade into the wilderness with ground to air missles.
Jan 24th, 2013 - 08:21 pm - Link - Report abuse 0No air craft carrier required for control of the skies over the Falklands.
Although NATO forces on the Falklands would make it very funny to watch the SA meltdown.
“The Falkland Islands should be supported by the UN, not just by the UK on its own”
Jan 24th, 2013 - 08:24 pm - Link - Report abuse 0Like to hear British recognizing the UN does not support the UK in the FI Colony.
The FIG should just threaten to impound any Argentine military assets and hand them to the vulture funds.
Jan 24th, 2013 - 08:28 pm - Link - Report abuse 0Seems to scare CFK no end.
Argentina pretty much lacks the ability to project military power anywhere. But as Joe suggests, be prepared for a stunt. But then again nothing will highlight Argentina's powerlessness more than the world laughing at some stunt.
The situations are not the same. The intervention in Mali is to prevent the country falling to militant Islamists who wish to attack Europe. It is not just aimed at France. France is aiding a former colony whose legitimate government is under attack. The UK could be a target as well as France so it is in our own interests that they succeed in pushing these insurgents out of the country.
Jan 24th, 2013 - 08:28 pm - Link - Report abuse 0First of all thank goodness the UK is considering getting out of the EU. Itis like an anchor around your neck.
Jan 24th, 2013 - 08:33 pm - Link - Report abuse 0Secondly, the MP was only pointing out that UK ( like USA) are always helping out their friends and the friends never seem to do likewise.
Plus what in the world would the UK need from France that they couldn't get from the USA? Cheese? Snotty Attitudes? Smelly people?
One would think Argentinians would be a bit more concerned that the Peso is dropping like a rock. 7.56/1 today
Lower Peso=Higher Inflation=Higher Inflation=Lower Peso
Where does it end
Hyperinflation I suppose
10/1 peso coming soon to a kiosco near you

Honestly I think we've hit this one covered without or even with the assistance of the French.
Jan 24th, 2013 - 09:13 pm - Link - Report abuse 0I believe the French gave us a fair amount of discreet help in respect of Exocets (the Argentine spent millions in France trying to get more, tracked by the authorities all the while) and the USN offered to lend us a Carrier if we lost one in 1982...we also got ammo and intel aplenty; no reason to expect otherwise were it to happen again; which is most unlikely without a ten to twelve year lead time for the Argentine to rebuild a credible military capability; by which time we will be operating Aircraft two or three generations ahead of anything they could get - some of which will be at MPA, along with top of the line UAVs.
Jan 24th, 2013 - 09:13 pm - Link - Report abuse 0It's all blather...
@1 Who cares what a pillock says? Or twinks?
Jan 24th, 2013 - 09:33 pm - Link - Report abuse 0@3 We don't need the French. Never have before. If arsieland tries again, we should just destroy it. Totally. Leave nothing alive. They tried once. We gave them a spank. If they try again, hit them with everything we have. It's not as if they don't deserve it.
@6 UN doesn't support arsieland!
@11 More than enough to finish YOU. I have no problem with argie destruction. Argentines should leave. WE're beginning to get angry. You wouldn't like us if we were angry. We were more than happy to show the Americans how to make an atomic bomb. And we have a few, bigger, ones. That we don't need anyone's permission or assistance to send where we want to send them. Personally, I have no problem with 30 million trails of smoke. 30 million piles of ash. Just say goodbye, arsieland. Nobody likes you. Nobody wants you. Nobody needs you. Nobody gives a toss.
@12 Unnecessary. You're just living on borrowed time. And borrowed money. Tick, tock, tick, tock. Alarm! Explosions! Blast! Heat! Hubble, bubble, botox trouble!

Jan 24th, 2013 - 10:35 pm - Link - Report abuse 0We managed to get rid of some invasive rats in 1982 without much bother. Ratus Norvegicus will be much more difficult. These are highly intelligent, resourceful and brave - the antithesis of the 1982 squatters.
As Roland rat was wont to say......... YEAHHHHHH!
Mali assistance is in return for the use of the aircraft carrier Charles de Gaulle - simples! It's already been agreed. With places like Martinique, a part of France with a vote and actually in the Eurozone, in the Rg colonialist view, France is just like England. ie more colonialists. Confusing isn't it?
Jan 24th, 2013 - 10:55 pm - Link - Report abuse 0But Rgland is the biggest colony of all 40 million mainly Latin interlopers! Trouble is they are all about as competent as Manuel in Fawlty Towers...
The whole thing is a moot point. Argentina han't got a military worth a dime, which is why they're always trying to get someone else to fight their battles for them.
Jan 24th, 2013 - 11:40 pm - Link - Report abuse 0The title of this article is completely misleading too. The British are already helping the French out under the recently signed Anglo-French agreement. This was just a question posed in the HoC by one MP acting on behalf of one of his constituency.
Should the UK ever require assistance, then under this agreement, the French would supply what they could.
But let's face it, against Argentina the UK doesn't need France's assistance we already have all the help we need...the Argentine government and their complete inability to get anything right. :)))

Jan 25th, 2013 - 10:34 am - Link - Report abuse 0Sorry, aged as I am, I was not around in 1066 and my ancestors would have been about 500 miles north of this.
Sorry again, but your reference to French replacing Argentina in the capitol of Geordie land has me baffled ????
Visitors to Argentina will know of the habit there of placing declarations that Las Malvinas belong to Argentina somewhat randomly on signs in unexpected places. I’ve seen one on a gantry over a motorway, for instance — which in England would probably carry warnings like ROADWORKS FOR 17 MILES or FOG.
Jan 25th, 2013 - 12:25 pm - Link - Report abuse 0It unclear whose benefit these stern insistences are for. In Córdoba, for instance, the pleasant inland city I’ve been staying in, where British tourists are hardly common, a permanent notice on a pole in a shady square where you might expect to read “No Cycling” announces that it is forbidden to forget that the Malvinas are ... etc.
But on Sunday I spotted a new medium for this message. A bus company is actually called Malvinas Argentinas — their registered company name on the sides of their buses (and, let’s hope, not to be confused with the destination of the bus).
Could we British take to the use of trade names for political propaganda? Calling a minicab company “Gibraltar is British” would be thought eccentric

Balliol, Comyn, Bruce, Wallace: all evil colonist userpers. Is there any way we can find out who their descendents are, and deny them any part in the democratic process? or maybe that's just crazy Argentine logic.
she's well ahead of schedule I was down the dockyard today having a look, (She's fookin huge) apparently the F35 is ahead of schedule as well. It was interesting to see large parts of the Prince Of Wales already sitting on the adjacent dockside ready for assembly soon as the docks empty

Mali 9/11 and the french trained terrorists murdering civilians and protesters with the help of the british money and weapons supply, nothing new! same old colonists doing the killing for their lords. Killing black people is a way of life for white people. I don't think history can hide this repetitive and obsessive way of life, living by the rule of murder and theft from ethnic groups. I wonder how the french and brits would feel if armed gangs killed their civilians at their homes? Anyone wants to elaborate on that? Somalians are the only people with courage to treat the english the way the english treat others. Let the white people kill as many blacks as they wish so the orphans meet the white murderers face to face.

Jan 28th, 2013 - 11:56 am - Link - Report abuse 0Still peddling the same old inane crap. Do you EVER read about the things you post ? Do you ever look at the newsreel footage of what is happening in Mali. The local populations are coming out to cheer the French forces for getting rid of a murderous group of insurgents - including Arabs - trying to inflict Sharia law on a BLACK people who do not want it.
Somalis have killed thousands more blacks than whites.
It is nothing but a tribal state ruled by warlords who will kill anyone for a profit - including Argentinians regardless of their colour.
If you have anything resembling a brain with cognitive processes, try using it - in your case it is probably futile to hope for this.
