I love living in Uruguay but despair of the rediculous antics of the President.

The Pluna incident is the epitome of corruption and/or incompetence at the highests levels aided and abetted by the owner of Burquebus who undoubtedly thought he had the deal sewn up until his ex-employee made a balls of it.

The election is not far away now and I do hope that someone without a communist background can move the country back into sound financial areas.

Well, the opposition has been warning the Frente Amplio administrations about overspending for years, literally. With regard to the Pluna scam, hopefully it'll be remembered as the beginning of the end of the Frente Amplio party, more commonly known locally as “Fraude Amplio” (Widespread Fraud).

If you mean the city of Colonia del Sacramento, originally established by the Portuguese, I don't think they'll ever revert to your language. Nevertheless, growing numbers of Uruguayans are learning Portuguese, just as more and more Brazilians are learning Spanish.
