Uruguay Malvinas Forum will celebrate anniversary blasting March referendum
This Friday the Malvinas Forum, chapter Uruguay will be celebrating its first anniversary and is expected to announce a statement strongly rejecting the coming referendum in the Falklands on the Islands political status which is scheduled for March 10/11. Why would we not vote to become Argentines? I think most of us would vote to become almost anything else rather than Argentine. I wouldn't mind being part of Chile all that much (apart from the fact that I'm not Chilean). That might be a good place to start when pondering your next move, people. Why is it that being part of Argentina is utterly unthinkable for most of us? I know T Man said we don't need to be persuaded, but actually, we do.

Currently on the UN decolonisation list 10 out of 16 do not have indigenous populations:
Anguilla, Bermuda, British Virgin Islands, Cayman Islands, Falkland Islands, Montserrat, Pitcairn Islands, Saint Helena (inc Tristan da Cunha), Turks and Caicos Islands, and US Virgin Islands.
Formerly on the UN decolonisation list 13 out of 35 do not have indigenous populations:

Boats are not a natural occurrence. The only natural inhabitants of most islands are birds and other fauna. Well, at least we know that Argentines profess that their overwhelmingly 'white' population aren't entitled to self-determination. Using their antilogic only their repressed brown population are. They should arrange for a referendum and have independence from the white people who brutally repress them and push them under trains.
Also the military garrison that a spanish colony tried to put on the islands (argentina didn't exist) are also not entitled to self-determination, using argentine antilogic. Therefore the hideously-biased opinions of people like 'the family vernet' are of no concern to anyone, so why do they bother bringing them along?
Way to go to ignore a complete population that makes you upset because their entire existence undermines the size of the lie that is the Great White Malvinas Myth.

I'm pointing out the nonsense of their argument because there are and were on the UN's list territories that don't have pre-colonial populations. Several never had them as they were uninhabited when discovered by Europeans. And yes, it goes against common sense.

The date for the referendum is just before the Ides of March (15th) and I expect the occasion to be no less important to the islanders than the obvious one was to the Romans.

Our resident old chestnut Conks puts all of us Latams in the same basket so lets not forget that in Punta del Este Maldonado there wasa major pot banging demo against the Black Widow recently by Argentine citizens. Last weeks protest by Argentines against Kicillof on the ferry to BA was a bit rough on his wife and kids I agree, but it was he who put his family in that situation

Fortunately, I was lucky enough to be born on the eastern side of the river. The Falklands belong to the islanders. If they don't, we should all go back to Europe. How can it or its neighbours be anything else. Spain and Portugal sowed the seeds, not Uruguans, or Argentines or Brazilians or Bolivians or Venezuelans or Panamainians, or Peruvians or Chilians. Did I miss anybody? Sorry for any spelling mistakes. Indigenous indians did not forge these entitites, not doubt they had smaller realms and territories. The Falklands choose to stick with britain, the continental entities split for their motherships, so what. Each to his own.
