Nearly 100 years after Sir Ernest Shackleton’s legendary Antarctic survival journey, a team of British and Australian explorers have completed their expedition to recreate it. Team leader Tim Jarvis and climber Barry Gray arrived at the Stromness whaling station in South Georgia on Sunday, despite extreme weather over the weekend that had put the expedition in jeopardy. I have to admit, when this attempt was first reported, I thought it could well end in tears. I'm pleased to find out now that they did it. They had a lot of guts to complete this trek across the ocean.

They made this voyage after flying out there and presumably fattening themselves up for the experience. Shackleton made the voyage after living on the ice for 10 months. Still, well done to them.
