British ambassador in Uruguay Ben Lyster-Binns said the coming referendum in the Falkland Islands involves the people of the Islands, United Kingdom and Argentina and expects the Uruguayan government to respect the referendum even when Foreign Minister Luis Almagro anticipated that the country will not recognize the results of the ballot. Feb 11th, 2013 - 05:40 am - Link - Report abuse 0Some evidence that the UN doesn't consider the questions or the future result of this referendum valid?
Is this like when you Malvinist's claimed the UK had broken UN resolutions? Then the UN General Secretary, Ban Ki-Moon, said we haven't ever broken any.
Is this like when you say the UN doesn't recognise that the Falkland Islanders are people, and therefore have no right to self-determination? Then the UN General Secretary, Ban Ki-Moon, says that they are 'people' and have the right to self-determination. Not only that, but all those defunct UNGA resolutions you like spouting, ALL said the that the wishes of the Islanders (self-determination) have to be taken into account during any sovereignty talks.
Your foreign minister, Mr Timerman, has shown the world the reason Argentina shouldn't get their hands on the Islands. Everything he said was for consumption by gullible people like you. The International Community looked on with a mixture of amusement at his amateurish antics, and horror as he casually disregarded human rights, because they are inconvenient for Argentina's position.
And what did he actually achieve? He can back with a paper signed by 'the undersigned', but no actual signatures on it! His so-called group of 18 REFUSED to actually sign his ridiculous document, and they were 'no-doubt' hand-picked sichophants from a few countries. But NOT one of them was 'anybody' from a foreign government, NOT one of them represented the EU or the UN. So basically you had a group of no-bodies, and even the no-bodies, wouldn't sign Timerman's silly document.
His antics have completely destroyed Argentina's credibility diplomatically and politically. Your government has destroyed Argentina's credibility economically.
And yet despite all their rhetoric, the Falklands remain under the control of the Falklanders, and under the protection of the UK. The March referendum will show the world what the Islanders want.
Argentina's wants are irrelevant.

Feb 11th, 2013 - 11:15 am - Link - Report abuse 0The important thing is sovereignty. If Argentina believes the Falklands is theirs take your case to the International Court of Justice. You don't dare do it, do you because you have no case whatever? Furthermore, the population of the Falklands, some of whom can trace their ancestry back to before 1833, don't want Argentinean rule.
They don't want to be a pariah nation under warning by the IMF, they don't want the influence of Chavez, Castro and Iran, they don't want corrupt politicians and police, they don't want 30% inflation, they don't want a fast depreciating currency, they dont want to live on $7 a day, they don't want Argentinas Mafia, they want to be able to walk out after dark without the threat of being raped mugged or murdered, they don't want a society where you have to have iron bars on your windows to keep out theives, they don't want any guns like you see as a 'must have' and they don't want Latin Alien Culture. And, in the referendum in March they will vote for what they want to retain, their association with Britain.
They do want to retain the British culture, the quiet village atmosphere of the their towns and villages, they do want their own independent government, they do want the friendship and protection of a powerful friendly nation, they do want no crime fraud or guns on the street, they do want wildlife and fisheries carefully and intelligently managed, they do want controlled tourism, they do want to retain their British heritage, the British education of their children and they also want peaceful and friendly relations with their neighbours. This last desire is constantly frustrated by the aggressive and vocal actions of Argentina who they do not like or trust.

Firstly, you put a post on here accusing the British of making war on you in 1805, 1807, 1826 qnd 1854. Invading you four times. I point out you have distorted the truth, a polite way of saying you lied, that in fact the war of 1826 was betwwen you and Brazil.
Then you make the ridiculous connection, that because the British supported, politically, the Brazilians, they have the same have status combatants against you. Ergo the British were at war with you. A fascinating concept, but one which does not seem to have been adopted under international law.
Now and this really is the best bit. Now, because the British did not actually ally themselves in combat with the Brazilians against you, you accuse them of cowardice! I can hardly type for laughing
If you are a true representation of the inelligence of your nation, there is little wonder they produce diplomats of the calibre of Mr Timermann.

Feb 11th, 2013 - 12:24 pm - Link - Report abuse 0The referendum is just for domestic consumption, doesn’t matter if the Islanders desire to become British, Chinese, Bolivians or part of Pakistan.
They are illegal occupants of Argentina territory and sponsored by a pirate corrupt nation like Britain and must be treated like that.
Argentina should sue Britain for 4 trillions of dollars in concept of reparation for economic damages.
And if they don’t pay as always they do Argentina should confiscate British assets & companies until full payment is issue.
UK should learn to respect western civilisation and that cannot be out of law.
Otherwise Unasur should send the Armies to make comply with the law.

You have good track record of thieving from foreign companies.
4) The UK 's record compared with Argentina is exemplary and Argentina has not yet qualified to join western civilization.
5) Argentina is so shit scared of Britain that it wants someone else to do the fighting. If Britain was attacked by UNASUR then we would have to go nuclear. Our first target Buenos Aires. But I don't think your chums would want to have anything to do with a nut case nation threatening war over a small island chain over which it has no claim.

If they believe you then you can get the islands that way instead. And yet here you are.

It's quite funny reading your rants, that have no place in actual reality.
Tell me, Dany, why should the rest of UNASUR fight for Argentina?
Are you saying that Argentina is SO WEAK that they need someone else to fight your battles for you? Pathetic.
But tell me, just what would you give the rest of UNASUR if they did fight your battles for you? The Falklands? A share in the oil?
Do you think that any of the other UNASUR countries would trust Argentina to keep to your side of the bargain once the fighting was done? I mean why would they believe Argentina? You have NEVER kept to a treaty in your history!
But let's imagine shall we, that UNASUR all join together to invade and steal the Falklands.
The UK, sends troops, and because sovereign British territory is in danger of being invaded, we involke Article 5 of the NATO charter as well as Article 15 of the UN Charter.
So instead of just facing the UK military, you are also facing the rest of NATO's military, and the Commonwealth, and the UNSC.
You see, Dany, by your statements you have confirmed two things:
1. Argentina hasn't got the military capability to fight its way out of a wet paper bag, let alone invade the Falklands.
2. Argentina is a coward because it doesn't have the guts for a one on one fight, like any bully you are only 'brave' when you are surrounded by your mates.
Just like you were 'brave' in 1982 when you sent 10,000 troops to subdue a population of 2,000 unarmed civilians and 70 armed Royal Marines.
Then a significant number of British troops turned up and your 'bravado' evapourated, rather than put up a proper fight.
Your troops surrendered to a smaller force, that on the whole had less advanced weaponry than Argentine troops, and that force had to travel thousands of miles. A battle that every military expert on the planet said the UK couldn't win. Yet somehow we did win.
There are a lot of opinion pieces today in the RG press talking about the economics of the 70s returning to the country,

Feb 11th, 2013 - 02:02 pm - Link - Report abuse 0A few days ago, Argentina's populist female president Cristina Kirchner ordered a price freeze on food products. This price freeze was levied against the largest food retailers in the country, and it is just the latest example of utterly insane economic policies made by populist national leaders who inevitably end up causing massive suffering and economic damage to the nations they claim to lead.
Feb 11th, 2013 - 02:08 pm - Link - Report abuse 0In case you're not familiar with Kirchner, this woman is a mafia-style criminal, a populist political hustler who has, for years, fabricated economic data to claim Argentina has low inflation. (In truth, the inflation rate there is over 25%.) She has been caught using government-created money to pay off political bribes. She has been slapped on the wrist by the IMF for falsifying economic data, and now she is about to thrust her country into nationwide food shortages that may very well be followed by riots.
The people of Argentina deserve better than Kirchner. Argentinians are, by and large, extremely friendly and capable people, yet they have suffered under the most absurd dictatorial rulers for at least a generation, possibly longer. Kirchner is just the latest in a long line of thuggish betrayers of the people who elected her.
Cristina Kirchner's Argentina illustrates an alarming trend. Her government has expropriated major foreign investors, falsified statistics, destroyed central bank independence , used the nation's currency reserves for political payoffs, and faces default, writes Paul Roderick Gregory at Forbes.com
Welcome to the land of populist governments led by charismatic people who have no clue whatever how economies work. These national leaders are a disgrace to humanity, and nations like Argentina would be far better served if they through Kirchner in prison rather than listening to any more of her delusional economic demands.

Feb 11th, 2013 - 02:20 pm - Link - Report abuse 0If it's substantiated, it's (again) probably the worst thing a country can do when faced with spiralling inflation.
Once food importers can't import any more, they'll soon find that domestic producers don't want to sell in the rapidly deflating domestic market, preferring to export it.
So naturally CFK will have to pass more laws demanding that farmers satisfy domestic demand first, which will basically destroy argentina's trade surplus and eventually drive farms out of business, fueling further unemployment and adding an extra burden to the state's dwindling capital reserves necessitating even more inflationary measures and the whole sordid cycle begins again.

ICJ judge, Dame Rosalyn Higgins, wrote: Attractive an aphorism though [self-determination] is, it still has to be said that the territorial issue does come first. Until it is determined where territorial sovereignty lies, it is impossible to see if the inhabitants have a right to self- determination (Dame Rosalyn Higgins, Problems and Process - International Law and How We Use It, Clarendon Press, Oxford, 1994)
The British jurist Rosalyn Higgins arrived at a similar conclusion when she pointed out: No tribunal could tell her [Argentina] that she has to accept British title because she has acquiesced to it But what the protests do not do is to defeat the British title, which was built up in other ways through Argentinas acquiescence.80 There was therefore little doubt that Britain acquired title to the Falklands by extinctive prescription. In other words, it was in this mode that the strength of the British claims resided.
80. Rosalyn Higgins, ”Falklands and the Law,” Observer, 2 May 1982.
The Falkland War : Britain versus the past...Daniel K, Gibran.
It is therefore not surprising that the General Assembly declared
in 1970 that the modem prohibition against the acquisition of territory by conquest should not be construed as affecting titles to territory created 'prior to the Charter regime and valid under international law'
Akehursts Modern Introduction to International Law By Peter Malanczuk

Feb 11th, 2013 - 06:16 pm - Link - Report abuse 0Oh, well done, very well done Tito!! Always first with the wrong answer!
Now, lets have a comment from someone who is not a complete retard.
No matter how much those nasty Argies abuse and treat us,
Feb 11th, 2013 - 06:17 pm - Link - Report abuse 0We still want to include them in talks, even through we don’t exist according to CFK government,
No matter how nasty, we still want to be friends,
mmmmmmmm
Wise of foolish ??
////////
Remember, if the boot was on the other foot,
There would only by ONE country in all this,
Argentina full stop,
Friends, mmm what would we do without them lolol.

Kirchner, like many other dictatorial tyrants throughout history, is an egomaniacal murdering criminal who is best dealt with through the use of a short rope and a tall tree. The best message Kirchner could possibly announce to her countrymen at this point would be the message that is broadcast by having a corrupt, criminal regime ex-tyrant swinging in the breeze without a pulse. Only then will the hard-working people of Argentina get what they truly deserve: SOMEONE ELSE other than Kirchner at the helm.
Let it be known that the day the Kirchner regime is removed from power -- and this evil woman is marched through the streets to face the people whose lives she has ruined -- will be a day of great celebration for liberty and justice around the world. To all those in Argentina who are right now fighting against the criminal regime of Kirchner, let it be known that there are many of us here in the USA who are praying and cheering for your victory against tyranny.
May you achieve victory and rid yourself of the putrid parasite known as Kirchner.

You've just got to feel sorry for Ban Ki-moon. It must be like banging your head against a brick wall. Everytime they drop something on his desk he must get a sinking feeling in his gut.
I see this link now says Argentina has a 'dossier' where they claim there has now only been 100 years of usurpation. At least it must be quite amusing for Ban Ki-moon that Argentina have still not got their fairy tail straight.

I suppose that must be an Argie trait as practised by the Argie Goevernment, but they keep lying and lying. The world will know in 26 days what the FALKLANDERS think.

THINK, TTT, DAME DOVER (Think II), DUNG BURGER, and assorted Dopplegangers,
Where is this money going???
All entrusted to Maximo!
Is he giving it to his mom ????
This wouldn't happen in a 'real' Democratic country, with a 'real' Government that serves the people responsibly. Right?
What kind of Government does CFK run??
She can't blame her Ministers, this is her son, pocketing the money!!!
Many years ago I flew by AEROLINEAS and AUSTRAL and I know which was better. AUSTRAL anytime. The problem is trying to turn a company around and most Argentinians that I know would fly any airline but AEROLINEAS. You need bums on seats.Mind you if the money earmarked is not invested then you have no hope.
Feb 12th, 2013 - 06:15 pm - Link - Report abuse 0Lan is the airlines of choice by most in Argentina. Aerolineas is considered the la capmora airways.
