Dubbed the “entente frugale” and criticised by some as a dangerous dilution of military sovereignty, Franco-British defence cooperation is nonetheless growing stronger. Shrinking budgets, a less indulgent United States and Europe’s diminishing military clout in the world have bolstered the two countries’ determination to work together. Read full article

Disclaimer & comment rulesWell you either have a military partnership or you don't, France has it's fair share of overseas territories too, who's to say French Guyana won't be next on the Bolivarian hit list!
Mar 04th, 2013 - 07:02 am - Link - Report abuse 0in the event that argentina manages to take the falklands i shall begin to be concerned about this.
Mar 04th, 2013 - 09:40 am - Link - Report abuse 0it does not seem like something i should invest too much time in otherwise.
This is a non issue. First off, Argentina couldn't wrest the islands from a baby. Even Chile could decisively beat Argentina. Secondly, France would probly help (but secretly, so as to not anger certain people), and USA would secretly help too. England, especially with a little secret help (and even without) would deliver a DECISIVE victory in VERY short time. It would be like when Russia pawned Georgia.

Mar 04th, 2013 - 03:59 pm - Link - Report abuse 0And you remember the advert for the sale of French Army surplus rifles: only been dropped in the mud once!
The UK government need to grow a set of balls as big as Lady Thatcher has and cut the benefits to all the chavs, stop the spending on Overseas Aid, kill all the eco-warriors freebees and NGO's, disband the discredited Met Office and sell the new 50 year prediction computer to somebody who can programme and use it properly, cut the MoD in half, AND THE MONEY SAVED SHOULD BE USED TO MAINTAIN THE UK MILITARY.
The French have all ready stated that they will not interfere , take sides , or send military aid to help the British in the Falklands,
Mar 04th, 2013 - 07:09 pm - Link - Report abuse 0Apparently sighting French Guyana, as a stumbling block,
If we aided you, we could be inviting retaliation from south America over French Guyana,
And this is not in our interest; also it could effect future trade with brazil and argentina,
Basically if it is not in Europe’s interest then Europe and France will not get involved,
The military alliance is only for our interest,
Basically you British must support us, as its in Europe’s interest , Frances interest , and the worlds interest,
But we French will not back you in the Falklands, as it is British interest,
And so the British, not only signed up to another year as a member of the EDF,
The European defence pact, but also signed a memorandum with France,
Right or wrong,
Your view my view,
I don’t trust politicians full stop.

I think the fact that France is building Brazil's nuclear sub, naval dock, fighters and more is reason enough.
The Frogs are smart operators.

They will lose Malvinas either way.
Don't talk about Chile. Give 1000 soldiers and a bunch of fighter jets and will take over that crappy country in 10 hours.
Dont are you silly, okupas. The ISLAS MALVINAS are named for the French, MALUINES.

Don't be deterred by negative comments, go on writing your funny posts. I for one find it amusing to read a 12 year old child's view of the world.

Why don't you have a go to prove your theory?
You can fly in the lead Pamper flown from Argentina.
But don't book a late meal at your airbase because it won't be there (if you return), so you will need another airbase to divert to.
