    Capriles must try to convince “the poor” that it is not enough to just eat the bread but also to cultivate and harvest it. and he must give them the feeling to stay as partners also for his time of ruling after the election.
    Chavez just feeded the people but didn´t give them a sense of how to work for the food. he preferred to import food instead of increase the agriculture sector and rob the oil reserves just for comsumption. that is the same mistake as the kirchner housewife practises in argentina.

    Maduro minutely tracks Capriles when he is overseas and yet the President disappears for months on end and no one bats an eyelid.

    After the admission by the bus driver I will be surprised if Capriles actually makes it to the election.

    Stevie, you are right. the millions of poor people in latam result of hundreds of colonial years with criminal suppression including slavery. to change that takes decades. but one needs a start. hopefully Capriles can manage a way between poor and rich and has influence on the rich to share.

    4. Pinochet put Chile on the right path didn't he? He has been the best ruler in SA maybe ever.
    It's too bad Argentina can't find a Pinochet to fix the mess the Ks have created.

    Still don't get this “underpants gnome” connection between
    Political Oppression -> “?” -> Prosperity!
    Be it right or left. Clearly I have been watching too much South Park.

    Pinochet was a tyrant, suppressing the opposition, ruling by fear, using torture and responsible for 3,000 deaths.

    No leader is entirely evil or a saint and Pinochet introduced economic reform that paved the way to the successes in Chile now. But, it was not without economic casualties - mostly the middle-class - and at a great loss of dignity and increased poverty for many years. The ultimate success is that of the hard working Chileans, rather than Pinochet, who had no economic experience but introduced the 'Chicago Boys'. But even their policies were not without problems. I honestly do not think even the Chicago Boys would have success in Argentina as it is a completely different culture.

    Like Chavez and Castro you can argue the positives and negatives of these dictators. But ultimately, they rule by fear and suppression of the opposition and media. The keep their voters dependent and without real freedom. They steal and line their own pockets. They are just new oligarchs in populist clothing.

    Spying on Capriles by Maduro's authoritarian Chavez state probably emerges from Russian Foreign Intelligence Service SVR (ex-KGB) overseas intelligence service mentoring of Venezuela over the past decade. The trick is not just spying on political rivals, but to use media to intimidate and to chill support for rivals. So in Putinist Russia, the internal service FSB helps pro-Putin media to do the spying, in the expectation that damaging videos will be published in news outlets. Works like a charm in Moscow, so looks like the SVR are doing their job in Venezuela too.

    Russia Today's Spanish service accuses U.S. of killing Chavez:

    “Eva Golinger: Hay evidencias que EE.UU. habría inducido el cáncer a Hugo Chávez”:

    @10 Also possibly featuring patented Jooooo Beams™ from the zionist entity. This way Maduro can use it as an excuse to raid another Jewish school (Not that they have EVER done this before, certainly not in 2004 or 07. I know PSUV apologists here are very sensitive about their track record in this area.).

    But in all serious, wait for the Jiffypop Beanie Brigade to begin connecting the dots in 5-colors-of-chalk-crazy style to make the most convenient connections via innuendo-and-out-the-other and just plain old fashioned making-s___-up for Capriles or one of his associates to be implicated to make sure that Maduro's “decisive” victory is guaranteed to and make sure that Capriles is politically a dead horse for future challenges.

    I think it is admirable of the Venezuelan opposition to be willing to throw itself on a live hand grenade, because things will go to hell in Venezuela and whoever takes over after Hugo will get blamed.
