Foreign minister Luis Almagro said on Wednesday that Malvinas Islands’ sovereignty belongs to the whole of Latinamerica and as part of Latinamerica and the Caribbean, “we will defend the territorial integrity of the continent”. Read full article
The British occupation of the Malvinas is nothing else but a colonial enclave that is intolerable for Latinamerica and the Caribbean in this time and age”
Argentina is nothing but a Spanish colonial enclave
Brazil is nothing but a Portuguese colonial enclave
Uruguay is nothing but a Spanish colonial enclave
Canada is nothing but a British/French colonial enclave
In fact, the Falklands is the ONLY part of the Americas which ISN'T a colonial enclave, as it was uninhabitted at the time of discovery by the British.
'Uruguayan Politician is Argentina's Bitch', is hardly a breaking news headline.
Luis Almagro (an amerindian name?) is in no position to talk about the territorial integrity of South America. The whole of that continent has borders based on an aggressive land grab by Europeans.
Their position is hardly suprising though, given that they are the cultural decendants of Castile, who found the idea of Muslims living in Iberia intolerable.
Latin and American - contradicting terms for anyone claiming to be indigenous to label themselves...and if they are not indigenous, then they are hypocrites
I would not get too derogatory of Uruguay btw - this is merely the public statement of one minister, hardly the feeling of the Nation or, indeed, its Government's official position away from the shine reflecting from Timmerman's pate.
Words for the Argentine masses, not for the real world.
Very funny. “There are more than plenty juridical arguments in support of Argentina’s claim over the Malvinas; a claim which is also supported by Mercosur, Celac and Unasur as well as the UN resolutions which the UK is determined in not respecting and complying” And for the 5,000th time, what are the juridical arguments that argieland daren't take to the ICJ? mercosur, celac, unasur? Don't care. And we aren't complying with non-binding UN resolutions. Nor is there any obligation on us to do so. Argieland is now so desperate. Everybody that we can get has to say how much they support us. Joke!
There are more than plenty juridical arguments in support of Argentina’s claim over the Malvinas... but not one juridicial ruling in support of Argentina's claim.
That referendum clearly got Argentina rattled. They now know their arguments are truly furked.
As said by others, what about French Guiana, The Netherlands Antilles, Martinque, not a word......come on challenge the French, the Dutch, and for that matter, what about the Spanish and their two colonial enclaves on the Moroccan coast, Cueta and Melilla....there is clearly a Latin bias against the British.....based upon a deep seated jealousy amogst many Latinos....its silly really when you consider the fact that the British have contributed many positive things in Latin America.
For starters, who brought the railways to South America.....the British....not the Spanish, the Italians or the Portuguese....who introduced football to South America....the British.....who introduced other sports like rugby union, polo and horse racing to South America....the British. For many years, Chileans have regarded themselves as the British of South America...the most businesslike, professional and least corrupt society within Latin America.
Today, many Latin countries would benefit from treating the Falkland Islands as a role model for good governance....with the exception of Chile (Brazil and particularly, Columbia have made some progress in recent times, and perhaps Costa Rica and Panama in Central America), most Latin American countries are still poorly governed and their populations suffer accordingly. But let's not talk about poor governance....Malvinistas and other bigoted Latin fools....just keep sprouting your usual anti-colonial rhetoric.....as for Uruguay....grow a backbone and stand up to Argentina for a change....if you were smart, you'd seek closer relations with Britain and America, along with Chile and Colombia, and by doing so, you'd be better able to stand up to Argentina.
One thing though, well done again to the two Uruguayan politicians who did show some intestinal fortitude and participated as observers in the Falklands referendum.
Reminds me of children chanting in the playground. Tactics of desperation from failed diplomat. It's noticeable that all the trolls have nothing to troll with any more and have slithered back under their rocks. Falklands were clear winners in this round and can look forward to a bright prosperous and peaceful future. Just ignore the Rg whining....you know it makes sense.
Simply stating something is legally invalid is not a sufficiency, you have to qualify it. I haven't yet seen one, let alone plenty juridical arguments in support of Argentina’s claim.
Obviously, the referendum was legal as:
1. There is no specific law that Argentina can rely on to nullify it.
2. Argentina by her failure to legally challenge it, has given tacit consent, with her acquiescence.
@15 M Of FI
Bollocks. Where did you read that, on a tatoo on your mother's backside?
The minister Almagro is talking rubbish. All these ministers believe they talk for 100s of millions of latin americans and that they all speak with one voice. Public opinion can never be used to overrule international law, if it were not the case, then on pure opinion power alone, we'd want to grab all the countries with fantastic weather (again!).
Yhink - Dont forget - Uruguay needs its waterways dredging- that comes at a price they need to pay and this is certainly part of it.
Meanwhile of course no problem this end as ships and trade continues to and fro, includinmg Royal Navy visits.
If it keeps you and Timmerman happy - then yes - speak up
Alargro.
International law is valid for all members and we must abide by it if we are to pretend serious legitimate actions in the global scenario
Oh like Argentina did in 1982.
Sorry, I forgot it wasn't Argentina that invaded the Falkland Islands in 1982 it was the junta and wasn't supported by a single Argentine.
You know, I first started looking at these threads because as an Irishman I was interested in modern history (actually studying it at uni) and I have to say that the continual whining, lying and exaggeration by the Argentine government and trolls has pushed me firmly into Britain's (and the Falkland Islanders) corner.
What is it exactly thet Argentina expects to achieve? Is their theory that if they keep acting like children Britain and the FI will get bored and just give up? or what?
If this is the case then they obviosly don't know the Brits.
Come on Malvinistas and other fellow travellers, speak up.....Spain should surrender Cueta and Melilla; France should surrender French Guiana, Tahita, Martinque and new Caledonia; Netherlands should surrender the Netherlands Antilles and Chile should give up Easter Island and so on.....the so-called Decolonisation list doen't even places like Cueta and Melilla, French Guiana, Easter Island or the Netherlands Antilles.....so much for consistency with that UN Committee. It's instances like this that allow for the UN to be held up for ridicule.
@8 Anbar:My comments were aimed at politicians and South Americans with roots in Europe ,that it seems would consider themselves the overlords of Falklanders if it were not for big brother UK having a rather large stick to hit them with if they try anything rough.
Anyone who is mature about this and can apply justice equally to both the Falklanders and South Americans, I have no problem with.
Judging by the look on Timmerman's face in the photo with his 'brother', is he thinking Oh no! Last night was incest!
or perhaps, My Uruguayan friend went to all the bother of wearing a mullet wig in honour of Argentina, I hope he does not realise I'm from the USSR
or how about, RESULT! Argentinian's joy at beating the poor exchange rate by getting 2-for-1 offer at New York Specsavers.
Will these poloticians respect the will of the people of Puerto Rico also? Or are they going to ignore their vote (to become a US State) and claim the Islands for all of South America.
Last time I looked at an atlas; they were still closer to the South.
Does that make Spain's decision to cede them to the USA as a colony (along with the Philippines and Guam) illegal?
Take that to the UN then!!!!!
@29 Of course they'll respect the wishes of the people of Puerto Rico, because they're only racist towards anyone with 'Anglo' connections. Puerto Ricans consider themselves to be Latin Americans and therefore suffer the same levels of poverty and corruption as their peers, but they don't get completely ignored through discussions of ethnically cleansing their land.
Malvinas Islands’ sovereignty belongs to the whole of Latinamerica
No it doesn't see there you go lying again, they just can't stop themselves can they
... “There are more than plenty juridical arguments in support of Argentina’s claim over the Malvinas; a claim which is also supported by Mercosur, Celac and Unasur as well as the UN resolutions which the UK is determined in not respecting and complying” said Almagro.
Dear Don Héctor,
If the above statement by your brother, Luis Almagro, is true, WTF don't you take your claim to the ICJ??????
Malvinas Islands' sovereignty belongs to the whole of Latinamerica? Well since the Malvinas don't exist that's not much cop then is it? How can America be Latin? Ah, I remember, it was invaded by paella and spaghetti munching invaders armed with muskets and sabres who slaughtered the population and stole their land! Better watch out unless they try the same thing on our Islands. Still, their navy has sunk, their aircraft get impounded like their few remaining ships and they got soundly thrashed last time they tried it. Still there are quite a few Nazis in the population so better be careful...
All this is now just more about anti-British hatred being stirred up by Argentina and some if their cronies, they have lost all credibility. It's so important we keep our dignity and continue to ignore them, they are just despicable people.
We are enemies, do you expect Argentina to talk well about you given you attempted to invade us three times before 1982 to try to deny us self-determination?
And if you think this generation of the 70s is anti-British, get ready when my generation assumes power. We are three times more inimical, but added to that we feel the same about all of Europe, not just you.
The tide of history is with the return of the Falkland Islands/Malvinas to Argentinian sovereignty. South America, including formerly British Guyana, is now solidly behind Argentina. Ironically, the position of the Falkland Islands in the world is more isolated after the referendum. Tea parties hosted by the British Embassy in Washington are not going to change the neutrality of the Obama Administration, which has called repeatedly for dialogue on sovereignty. The terms of the dispute are set in stone in UN Resolution 2065 (XX) Question of the Falkland Islands (1965). The islanders will have no peace until there is a settlement between Argentina and the UK.
Our enemy is not those poor island bumpkins, we should let them be. Our enemy is the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland, their entire population.
@41 - what part of UN resolution 2065 says that Britain has to give the sovereignty to Argentina? I don't see it. All it does is recognize that there is a dispute over the sovereignty, and that it needs to be resolved bearing in mind resolution 1514. Of course, 1514 gives all populations the right to choose their own political status as an outcome of decolonisation - The UN is willing to accept independence, integration with a neighbouring country, integration with the colonial metropolitan country or free association with another country, as outcomes from decolonisation.
@John Troll the 3rd So can you tell us all what that stupid whipping boy of the botox queen Hector Timerman achieved on Tuesday in New York?? I am sure the many poor Argentines are getting pissed with your governmant going on these stupid wateful exercises and coming back with sweet f.... all,I mean London, Rome, New York and still nothing where next???
London, Rome, New York, Madrid, etc should be inflicted heavy casualties. Lots of death and destruction. You need to learn your lesson once and for all.
@ 42 Snotty When mygeneration assumes power or usurps what little will be left? Butyou will probablyhave your particuular lights turned off long before then
Between the remarks made ministers of Foreign Affairs and Defence one feels that they represent the feelings of all Uruguayans . In which case the UK should pull out its Embassy and sell both Embassy building and residence . Between them we will make a handsome profit . Uruguay can now live happily ever after with Argentina, Venezuela and Cuba . Let us not waste our money in a country which hates us . Though we did play a not small part in its independence .
#40 Wrong! He didn't say that he said Malvinas sovereignty. So, because the Malvinas do not exist... He is buggered! The Rgs can spout nonsense and whinge as much as they like, it won't get them diddly squat. Resolutions, statements with failed nations, anti British /English/European rhetoric is just ignored by all normal responsible and major trading nations. If these idiots want to continue marginalizing themselves and damaging their international trading prospects and wealth, that's their lookout. With winter approaching the lack of $ and credit things will get worse and worse for the average Rg. By the time they realise that their present stance is untenable it will be too late, condemning them to years of austerity and sorrow.
This Troll is arse. Rolling Stones v popular in Arg wich has no music. Most stinking hole villas, dangerous too. Man cuddle nother man, in Arg its normal behavor. Nancys and pussie everwher
The Falklands belong to the Latin Americas.. What a load of old tripe. So now Argentina has persuaded all latten Americans that the Falkland belong to all of them. So it never did belong to Argentina I guess so argument is flawed and should be thrown out. The next thing we will be hearing is that The Falklands and Latin America belong to the rest of the world.
Where do they get these people from cuckoo land no doubt.
@54 i personally don't want to see anyone suffer except your stupid GOVERMENT certainly not decent Argentinians who just want to live a decent existence without being shafted. Still you voted TMBOA in so you,ll have to live with the fallout or vote her and her bunch of bullies out of power. Then perhaps we can put this whole sorry saga behind us and the Falkland Islands can get on with thier lives without the threat of invasion, constant bullying and rhetoric and realise the potential of thier beautiful islands. As well as getting stinking rich of course which is what really irks you lot in the long run isn't it? :)
Nice article..
The Falklands’ first commercial oil discovery will make the islands in the South Atlantic rich, bringing the British territory of 2,563 people US$10.5-billion in tax revenue over 25 years.
“There’s strong potential for more reservoirs to be discovered and developed,” said Ian McLelland, head of oil and gas at Edison Investment Research in London. “In time, it’s not unreasonable to think that there will be significantly larger discoveries than Sea Lion.”
“As far as many Falkland Islanders are concerned, using some of the money for defense would be something popular,” Luxton said
Snotty What thesis. A balanksheet of paperis a sure gamma minus marking
You live in Canada. You know why the Mounties havent picked you up yet for subversive activities? They are laughing at you and letyou to continue with your tripe posts n this site as you do an awful lot of damage to the supposed Argentine cause on the Falkands
I am a Brit and have lived in Uruguay for almost two years now. It is a great country with lovely people.
It is clear to me that you have no idea what you are talking about when it comes to the people of Uruguay and their ‘support’ for AR, because as far as I can tell it is non-existent. Do not believe everything you see in the papers.
Almagro is an ex UY Ambassador to AR and has quite obviously been turned. You only have to look at the wanabe homos in the photo to see that.
The Defence Minister of all 7,000 officers and men of the UY standing 'army' is the very best friend of Pepe, the soon to be gone President: himself a commie and gangster and even though he is no friend of TMBOA he is too weak to improve the position of his own country.
All of my Uruguayan friends and that is quite a few now, despair at the antics of Pepe and his wife and cannot wait for him to be gone.
There is evidence that the forthcoming president is already ‘sitting’ with Pepe to make sure as far as possible things are done correctly.
As for selling the Embassy that is counterproductive to the stated UK diplomatic aims of building up relationships and business in SA.
@68 so which one is the stooper and which one is the stabber? I'm guessing that Uruguay takes it, given that's their role in South America to take it from an Argie and look like one loves it.
While I do not support it in the Falklands, I do support ethnically cleansing all traces of Anglos in South America (except the Guyanas). Everywhere else, you have no business here.
@39 You're funny. Is this your latest bit of history? Are you going to clarify who you think is us? Let's go for what we know. 1806 & 1807. British forces mounted raids into the Viceroyalty of the Rio de la Plata. Notice that. A SPANISH colony. During the Napoleonic Wars. When Spain was allied to France. Perfectly justified. And your country only started seeking independence in 1811. And only managed a declaration of independence in 1816. Anybody with a mind would say that the British raids took place 10 and 9 years before you were a country. The usual suggestion is that the next invasion took place in 1833. Was that in Buenos Aires? Or was it the British territory of the Falkland Islands on which your country was trespassing? Territory that had been discovered by Britain in 1690 and formally claimed in 1765. That's 51 years before your country existed. Or are you thinking of the Anglo-French blockade that started in 1845? Why don't you mention the French? What about the French blockade between 1838 and 1840? But wasn't Rosas your dictator at the time? Didn't he start the first Conquest of the Desert genocide? By 1845, wasn't Rosas occupying Uruguayan territory? Weren't the hostilities started by the Italian, Garibaldi? Wasn't Rosas seeking to control trade with cities upstream for his own benefit? All of these events are recorded. And they don't match your contention. So shall we say that you are mistaken, or that you are lying?
@41 Unforunately, non-binding resolution 2065 is no longer valid. Overtaken by the 1982 Falklands War started, and lost, by argieland.
@42 Xenophobe.
@46 Could you list the 70 or 80 most important argie cities/towns? Those with the largest populations? We have approximately 60 nuclear missiles. With multiple independent warheads. So if we land the first 40 missiles on the biggest, the remaining 20 can do two targets each!
@51 Try suicide bombers! You can probably kill 4 or 5 million argies.
@54 Not suffer. Die!
@26 What is it exactly thet Argentina expects to achieve? Is their theory that if they keep acting like children Britain and the FI will get bored and just give up? or what?
The Argentinian government has to complain or face political suicide. Remember that everyone in Argentina believes that Britain took the islands from Argentina by invasion in 1833 as the absolute truth, and wants them back. Of course everyone thinks that what CFK is doing is idiotic, but they won´t ever let the government stop doing anything they can to get the islands.
@John Troll the 3rd, Just think about it your Granny must have loved screwing a Spanish Pirate though or was it one of the many Nazi war criminals Argentina sheltered that so pleasured your Granny??
78. Your generation would give thier left arm to live legally anywhere in the EU UK USA. You have no idea how many requests I get for help trying to escape that horrible place on a monthly basis.
So what...you hate Europeans...and should the continent of Europe be worried that a teenage Argentine virgin with personal hygiene issues hates us? Not really, it's quite funny.
You have a little ego problem don't you Nostril? Somehow you think you are important on this forum, and people listen to your trolling...is it because nobody ever listens to you in real life?
Is it because everyone sees you as a little joke....poor Nostril..and his pathetic hatred.
Still not answered me from the other threads though Nostril. this hatred you have for Europeans....it's a simple question.
When, at sometime in the future, you finally have sex (urghhhhhh hideous, but there must be some wretched creature somewhere who could tolerate your clammy hands all over her), and maybe one day you have offspring.....
would you deny that offspring life-saving medical treatment if that treatment was invented/developed in Europe?
Yes or No Nossie....?? Hypocrite or sick fekker...which are you?
That's why the Argentine embassies all over Europe in Madrid, Rome, Munich, Paris, London, Miami people are lining up to get out of there (want pictures?), and that's why the embassies in Argentina of those countries have no lines whatsoever.
I'm sure pictures and reality are lying, and you are telling the truth lol.
That's why I'm not racist against Americans. You are too mentally atrophied to be hated. I just pitty americans.
Monkeymagic, Old Nossie can hate as much as he likes but it won't stop the European blood flowing through his slimy body he's probably related to some evil Nazi war criminal Argentina sheltered.
John Troll The 3Rd
Still waiting for your thesis. I am quaking with anticipation. In fact I would suggest that most of the bloggers on here are waiting with bated breath for your thesis. I hope you do not submit it the educational authorities in Argentina as to date you have a fail.
83. Stupid boy, nobody from the EU UK USA needs to apply for a visa to go to Argentina so why would there be lines?
Its probably Rgs lined up to get new passports that can't be made outside of Argentina any longer due to a paper shortage.
You are seriously retarded.
Go take a pic of the USA embassy for their 1pm line of the Rgs trying to come here. We had to expand staff to try to accommodate all of them trying to flee.
Luckily we turn most of them down
and
I love watching them cry about it.
I have said before I do not date Argentine women, they are too into independence and respect.
I would never touch a European (hairy-armed french, beaked-nosed italian, toothless-pizza faced english, terminator-jawed german, or squatting-tenor voiced spaniard)
@78 True, each to your own, although it would be a shame if you developed those views by reading these pages ... as we all know they are not representative of Argentine or non-Argentine public opinion. I mean how many Argentine Sussie's can there be?
Too late. I think the internet is representative of people's views. They say things they feel and would never say in person for fear of ridicule or physical harm.
Territorial integrity is the principle under international law that nation-states should not attempt to promote secessionist movements or to promote border changes in other nation-states.
The idea of a continent (as opposed to a nation state) demanding TI is totally contradictory. A continent is a purely geographical term - it already has TI or it wouldn't be a continent in the first place..! The FI is part of the South American continent, just as the Canary Islands are part of the African continent. This has absolutely nothing to do with politics. If it did then Europe has much more right to demand back Eastern Thrace (part of Turkey).
Territorial integrity is a cynical device used by aggressively nationalistic totalitarian countries, like the Soviet Union and China, to preserve their militaristic empires and threaten dire punishment to any ethnic minority that might want to secede.
@John Troll the 3rd Talking of smelly hairy women take a look of Alica Castros daughter and her camel toe in London recently Alicia or her daughter have no place in a clasasy city like London they are both out of place
I see, you don't like women, was that your choice, or were they all repulsed by your physical and social repugness?
Are you homosexual or celibate?
Just for the purpose of my premise, is there anyone you care about or cares about you, or does everyone find you repulsive? A parent perhaps or a sibling...someone who has retained some affection albeit tinged with pity and regret? Anyone you could apply the premise to?
Or perhaps even yourself, clearly you think of yourself as someone relevant, certainly you over-value your worthless opinion, so apply the premise there perhaps..
Would you deny yourself European medication or treatment or would you prefer death....
I am sure the majority of the readers of these boards are hoping the latter...
Please post the pics of the Argentinian Embassy's with long lines.
I am so curious.
Methinks you are caught in yet another lie
Did I say just earlier it must be really frustrating to be wrong over and over again.
Over and over
Grr
Does the word compassion have a different meaning in Argentina ?
Let's see. Your govt. tries to threaten and bully a small island community because they covet their land. YOUR posters continually insult them on this forum and belittle them at every opportunity. Your rent-a thug crowds threaten cruise ship passengers trying to disembark at BA and Ushaia and you have the cheek to call yourselves compassionate ! As to moral ?
That is just a huge joke.
As for hating all Europeans, does that stop east of the Urals.
Are all people of European descent come into your hate list, and do 3 month old babies figure in your list ?
It sounds as if you are a fan of uncle Adolph and his views on the untermensch.
When you look in a mirror in the morning, do you smugly chant mirror mirror on the wall, who is the purest of them all ME!! Grow up and get some experience of life rather than live in your imperfect academic fantasy world.
It includes everyone, all ages all geographies. One can't make exceptions or it encourages weakness. Once you decide to become a racist, you are all in. No middle ground.
Why would I ever want to leave? To experience mass shootings in person? That's the only think you have to offer. You are an awful country with pitiful people oozing in McD grease.
I have no idea you'd have to ask your 250k companeros in Miami that question.
I know I left because of the violence and the fact absolutely nothing works in that country.
absolutely nothing
Funny in Arg working at McDs is considered a pretty good job. Nice USA company where you are sure to get your check. Did they fire you or not call you back for an interview?
Did you mention morals like ours, could swear I read you writing that?
Morals, now let's see, any of my grand parents, parents, brother, sisters, cousins gone to sleep at night, worrying that the door would be kicked in and they would disappear.
Any of them walked down a street without looking behind them for the green Ford Falcon? That would snatch them off the street and they would disappear.
Huh, nope, do not think so. Mind you if some of the people you gave sanctuary to, had their way, things could have been different!
For starters, who brought the railways to South America.....the British ... add cold stores (frigorificos) which made export of meat feasible, and much else.
That is the problem - some Argentinos hate their benefactors because they were exactly that - benefactors.
.
People, in #15 M_of_FI is being sarcastic, writing UN Secretary General Ban Ki Moon in support of Argentina’s claim over the Falklands.
@John Troll the 3rd, Are you taking the piss? Castros daughter looks dirty take a read of the blog who is Argentine also but obviously educated just wondering if Alicia knows who the father is do you know if she's married or was this the product of the mile high club
Dog turd the 3rd Take a good look around you in your comfy bolthole in Cananda, ever notice how most of the people look european, that's probably because most of them descended from european stock, hence they speak English or French, FFS your boyfriend probably is of european decendant. In fact your probably half european. What a numpty you are.
@108 110 Sussie do one the street and some drugs awaits you
'‘The Falklands belong to Argentina – even a three-year-old knows that’: Argentina president Cristina Kirchner provokes Britain with latest tweet
She claimed that a child would find British ownership 'unsustainable'
Kirchner also suggested that 'the world' wanted dialogue between countries - 99.8% of islanders recently voted that they wished to remain British territory - But Kirchner has refused to accept vote that was discussed by UN this week - Argentine officials demanded talks with UK on sovereignty of islands http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-2300671/The-Falklands-belong-Argentina--year-old-knows--Argentina-president-Cristina-Kirchner-provokes-Britain-latest-tweet.html
@118Sussie I wouldn't touch you with a barge pole don't know what I'd catch. In answer to your other question I have a really good life, nice three bed detached house, two and a half bathrooms as you say in the US, a nice car in the drive, a good job that lets me use the computer whilst I'm nightshift to wind you up and a very very good index linked pension care of the Royal Navy, thank you for asking. Now get yourself streetside theres a good girl.
@ 120 most three year olds have more sense than TMBOA, crikey even Sussie can manage the iq of a four year old. CFK is really losing the plot now, April the 2nd will show the world how deranged they are when they celebrate attacking the Falkland Islands (even though it wasn't thier fault but the Junta) and losing a war. All countries celebrate LOSING a war they started don't they?. It's like Germany celebrating invading Poland in 39. Unbelievable
Oh dear Sussie. An ex serviceman! How many servicemen did you serve? Or is your real name Monica Lewinsky? You cant get any higher up than that if thats true
any port in a storm.....need to be the perfect storm. A quick trip to sick bay to be issued some ibrufen and entinox afterwards, followed by a DTS to expel any nasty memories. To be honest can I just stick to my sock. :) Oh look Gollam's on film 4
On the caption Timerman looks like a piece of dried haddock Alamagro likea dog with two tails
As a previousc ommentator has said Mr Al has probaby nicked the tinmans wallet
In for a nasty surprise when he finds its only got Argentine pesos in it
Looking at this articles photo again, it looks like tinman and his new bum-chum Almagro were photographed as they left a late night bar after consuming 8 pints and 10 jagermeisters each. That's probably when Almagro made his ridiculous comments about the FI belonging to 'Latin America!
Its worth revisiting what Latin America means/is, according to Wikipedia Latin America is...
'Latin America (Spanish: América Latina or Latinoamérica; Portuguese: América Latina; French: Amérique latine, Dutch: Latijns-Amerika) is a region of the Americas where Romance languages (i.e., those derived from Latin) – particularly Spanish and Portuguese, and variably French – are primarily spoken.' http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Latin_America
After reading a few article about this it seems, Latin-America derived its name from (Britain, USA, Canada) Anglo nations and simply means non Anglo-Saxon America. The FI speak English and the majority of people who live their are of British decent so the Falklands Islands are NOT Latin America...
@144 great news indeed, lets hope they also include all EU and Bermuda flagged cruise liners, Bermuda being a BOT and all eh? Another nail goes in care of TMBOA
Don't forget all those ship registered in MALTA a member of the EU and THE COMMONWEALTH, Malta currently the biggest register of merchant and cruise ship in europe overtaking greece, which of course is in the EU so crack on losers, then you have the Bahamas (commonwealth), Trinidad and Tobago (commonwealth) ban em all i say good luck with that.
Oh come on Slatzzz, he did say they would allow in ships bringing them agricultural products. That's food to you and me, wow! What an innovative concept, a blockade against all ships except the nice ones that bring you food!

Sir Francis Drake, daring naval captain, early circumnavigator of the globe and (to some) pirate, was buried at sea in a lead coffin, off Portobelo, Panama.
A state drum, painted with the arms of Sir Francis Drake, is preserved among other relics at Buckland Abbey, the stately home of the Drake family in Devon. Legend has it that in a time of national crisis for Britain, this drum will beat and Drake (or his spirit) will return to save his country, as he saved them with his victory over the Spanish Armada in 1588.
Drake's legendary bravura and cool is captured in the story about the way he greeted the arrival of Spain's formidable Armada, far more powerful than Drake's forces. When warned of the Spanish fleet's appearance, Drake was playing bowls on Plymouth Hoe. Instead of rushing off
@150 some facts for dog troll the turd
■The EU is Argentina's second export market, after Brazil, China and US. Argentina exports primarily agricultural products and raw materials to the EU.
■The EU exports manufactured goods, such as machinery, transport equipment and chemicals to Argentina.
■The EU is the biggest foreign investor in Argentina, accounting for about half of the foreign direct investments in Argentina. EU investment stocks were worth € 49.5 billion in 2011 and cover important areas such as telecoms, automotive or energy.
Now ban all EU registered ships from rgenweener and heyho YOUR FOOKED and before you say it do you think for one minute EU countries would allow other registered ships to transport materials to rgenweener when they have blatantly picked a fight you are sorely mistaken, if this story has any creditability I will be most surprised even TMBOA wouldn't be that stupid would she? Simple answer would be ban all imports from rgenweener to EU, more than one way to skin a moggy, then watch TMBOA go into meltdown
TMBOA is that stupid. And her little still born hiding under the Queens skirt in Canada (which queen?) is her lapdog
Snotty the Royal Canadan Mounted Police are coming to serve you with an extradiion order when you are no further use to them
I hope they do it (doubt it though) because for all the bluster an shite from Uruguay and the rest of them they will drop rgenweener like a hot brick. They know it. We know it and secretly so does dog turd the 3rd. I state once again we are argueing with a twat that lives in Canada has no pride no morals and is not worth toilet paper ie rg pesos
Slatzzz
Shit mate, most of them on here live anywhere else other than Argentina, it's fucking priceless! Our country is so great, we it love so much so, that we choose not to live there. It's magnificent in our minds, unfortunately our wallets and safety comes first!!!!!!!!!
They just ignore the fact that the rest of us laugh at their utter hypo racy!
Correct RC, dog turd the third must break his heart every time he opens his wallet and sees a picture of her majesty looking back at him. One word COWARD. They talk about thier boys in the Falklands I say they haven't got a fuckin clue, to me they are the lowest of the low and disgust me by pretending to have actually been there. I have the utmost respect for the rg's conscripts that actuallly fought but pieces of shit that know fuck all piss me off and are disrespectful to those who have a bit of bottle. I'd actually be interested to hear the views from argentine people who actually fought in the war and know there perspective not some keyboard warriors who live in Scandinavia and Canada
I was in my local this evening in UK's west country, and several guys said that, even in their fifties, that if they were given a decent rifle like an SLR or or an SA80, they would fight Argentina if they invaded the Falklands again.
98% wishing to remain with the UK, may not represent a principle to CFK and HT, but in the UK it does.
What is going to drag the CFK régime down first? The US courts over Argentina's debt default or more hopeless mullarkey about the Falklands?
SLR fired a 7.62 round, big heavy round, 20 rounds to a Mag. Average infantry soldier carried 6 too 8 mags. SLR meas, self loading rifle, a semi automatic rifle, one press of the trigger one round, no automatic fire. Derived from the Belgian FN, exactly the same rifle only automatic. Squeeze the trigger and it fires until you remove your finger from the trigger. Sounds good, gut you need a lot of ammo and unless you're strong, 7 out of 10 of your rounds are for the birds. Big heavy round no movie shit here, hide behind 18' of brick it will go ithrough it and take your arm off.
SA 80 as was, fires a smaller 5.56 round, 30 rounds to a mag, unlike his colleague in the Falklands, today's infantryman can carry 5 the ammunition for the same weight of the 7.65. The rifle is both automatic and semi automatic, though trained infantrymen only use automatic fire, when they close with the enemy in the final phase of an assault.
The 7.62 was a heavy ballistic round, it blew it's through flesh. The 5.56 is an aerodynamic round, it tumbles though flesh and does more damage.
No it doesnt belong to the whole of SA, as is quite plain to see.
Currently I believe the language/culture/flag happen to be all british! And there is absolutley nothing the whole of SA can do about it! It will be the british and Islanders decision to give up on the islands and no one elses!
Weep my little inbred RG whores, weep, as that happens to be FACT!!
164 hampster balls
You appear to be an ex squaddie ( probably ex RPC ) with very little going on between your ears, one of lifes losers that just sucks of other people, doooooooooo, go get your daily handjob from your mummy
@160 reality check,
Yes, the SLR does pack a wallop.
l have fired them also & love them but they do get too heavy for me after a while.
l would have liked a bipod to hold the barrel up when firing prone, but of course that would just add to the weight when carrying the darling of a thing.
Haven't fired an SA80 yet.
ln New Guinea l had a chinese SKS assault rifle & a Brno .22.
Love the smell of gun oil!
My late father was detached as a PSI to his TA Battalion, I first fired the SLR when I was 8 years old.
On a Sunday once a month, dad would empty the armoury and lay out all the weapons on the floor of the drill hall, him, mum and us kids would field strip and clean them all.
That was in the 1960's, I loved and was proud of my dad, just as I love and am proud of all the guys and girls today.
May they keep safe and return to the ones who love them, soon be over!
The tumbling bit was and is a fallacy after the yanks shortened the twist rate in their barrels.
The SS109 NATO round (5.56 ball) used by the Brits and other NATO armies does not tumble in a SA80. The round is puny enough as it is without the extra energy loss of tumbling on the way to the target.
The 0.223 Remington is the (almost) direct equivalent and the NATO round was developed from it but with a longer bullet holding area (neck) for the heavier military bullet. This gives problems when firing 5.56 in 0.223 rifles. I prefer RG 5.56 cases and always had to trim back the neck to fit the chamber of my vermin and fox rifle to eliminate the possibility of excess throat erosion (the rifle, not me :o) ).
It must be remembered that the military top brass do not want the enemy killed in the normal course of warfare. Wounded combatants take up extra resources, so the 5.56 fits straight in.
My late father was detached as a PSI to his TA Battalion, I first fired the SLR when I was 8 years old.
lol - did they have to peg you into the ground to stop the recoil throwing you backwards?
And how was your shoulder afterwards?
----
the SLR was a beast of a rifle, personally i hated it over the SA80 in so far as the SA80 was lighter, you could carry more ammo and, more importantly for me, I could hit stuff with it!
69 ChrisR Apologies for late reply . So I know nothing about Uruguay ? Pray tell me how many Uruguayans have openly come out to ask their Government to cease stupid attacks against the UK . So far only El Pais has condemned Mujica and company . The rest silence which means agreement . The real problem is that the Government thinks that it will earn brownie points attacking the UK . They are wasting their time .
Argentina is much better than South America too, and than Europe. Sure a bit less wealthy, but it more than makes up in environment, culture, family, and open nature.

Soy-bean and wheat harvests down - bad weather
Economic chaos

UN resolution 2065 made in 1965 was made void by Argentina's decision to settle its sovereignty dispute with the UK by its unlawful invasion in 1982. Asking the UK to honour 2065 is like Hitler asking Chamberlain to honour the 1938 Munich agreement in 1939 after he had invaded Poland. Hence, there is no requirement for anyone in the UK government to sit down and discuss the sovereignty of the Falklands.
Also, the Falkland islanders do have the right to self-detemination under the UN Charter and General Assembly resolution 1514(XV) which states, 'All peoples have the right to self-determination; by virtue of that right they freely pursue their economic, social and cultural development.' Unfortunately for Argentina, this RIGHT IS NOT QUALIFIED AND ATTEMPTS TO QUALIFY IT WITHIN THE UN HAVE BEEN REJECTED.
I think the The rest silence which means agreement is erroneous and means nothing of the kind.
I only read the electronic versions of the papers and, for a while, contributed to a government blog site with constructively critical posts. This was fine until the Pluna affair and the moderator did not like what I said (which was completely truthful) and they chucked me off and cancelled my details!
The Uruguayo are a very laid back people until they get worked up. They will get worked up for the elections and that will be the end of it.
It seems to me that the Cuban delegate for CELAC, Bruno Rodríguez, can hardly be talking for all the Commonwealth Members of CELAC or even the French and Dutch territories.
farkinL resorting to religious jibes now? that is SERIOUSLY desperate ;-0

technically i live below the European Poverty Line because i cannot afford one foreign holiday a year and my TV is under 42 inches in screen size... only own 1 car (even if its new) and have fewer bedrooms in the house than people who live there.
poor me eh?
On the plus side we aint going to run out of LNG this year (unlike Argentina)... also on the plus side i can get USD$ whenever i like, dont need to explain to anybody why or where I am going on holiday, have free health care and employ a trio of Argentines who are just grateful to be outside of Argentina, even if they do have to post money back home every month to help their families get through day-to-day hardships... like finding a food store with fully stocked shelves that they can afford.
I guess they are religious, I never asked, so they could repent - presumably. Me? I am an atheist, so not only couldn't I repent, but I dont think that talking to 'Mr Invisible-in-the-sky-Person' is going to help out with the Nation's economic problems.
Good luck to those who do...but I wont be holding my breath. ;-0
(Its a bit like begging Mr-Invisible-lives-in-the-Sky-Persons Personal PR-Rep-in-the-real-world aka The Pope, to 'get the Falklands back': seemed a good idea at the time, but turned out to be a total flop ( It appears that once Argentines leave Argentina they gain the ability to tell their president to Foxtrot Oscar, and use every opportunity they can to do just that)
Apparently
Mr tinman and CFK have found another supporter to their claim,
Rodrigo’s mustaphalaugh, an ex-Cuban Ecuadorian, rose seller,
Who swears it were brits who destroyed his rose bush, when they invaded argentina on a secret mission in 1982,
The roses imported from Uruguay, but grown in Venezuela from seeds grown in Bolivia,
And sent via Colombia,
States he demands compensation,
And as his roses are Latin-American in origin,
This represents a latim problem,
I just want my roses back,
[Asked] how he knew they were brits,
And looking at tinman for advice,
Stated, why you have to get technical all the time,
Then was escorted back to the asylum.

I have asked time and time again, why do you stutter when you post-- UUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUJAJAJA ?
The vowel U is typed 22 times followed by a Germanic JA three times. To an English speaker this means an incoherent stutter or cry of pain followed by YES YES YES. The effect is that it shows that the writer has serious mental problems.
Your other diatribe has not been worded to your advantage. “intellegence”...= the bloody rubbish english people
A person conversant in English would take this to mean that the English are intelligent which begs the question if they are bloody rubbish and intelligent, how far down the scale does that put you. ? Somewhere slightly higher than an amoeba ?
@75 You lie!
@78 Feel free. We have the right to kill you! YOU, personally.
@87 Shame for you. Working at an international airport has benefits! All the argentine women I've come across have been only too happy to get their knees up beside their ears and wide apart. Some have even complained that they are not that deep. Watch out for them. They walk bandy-legged now. Must be something to do with the floppy pencils of argie men. And the girls have good suction as well. Argentine women obviously need real men. None to be found in argieland. Too busy stabbing each other. But, for us, when the Aerolineas flight landed, it was ploughing time! Nothing better than a desperate argentine slag.
@102 Strange how you tried, on another thread, to suggest that you were/are a proper American with, if I recall, the comment that you somehow bailed Britain out in WW2. Only to have it pointed that you were, effectively, brainless cannon fodder. I remember my father mentioning that Americans could only think of 3 things. Gum, ice-cream and comics. South America was, of course, mostly cowardly. But, back then, Uruguay, or at least one Uruguayan, had balls and integrity. Shame they've lost both!
@122 Please explain. How could a cow fxxx a pig?
@144 I agree. Argieland starves or goes even more mad as it consumes its own produce! What could be better? Oh, I know, we could mix your usual pigswill with faeces. Bet you'd love that!
@159 Would you have any spare rifles? Please? I want to mount an argie head on my wall. I believe they can sound like a drum.
@177 open nature. Oh, good. Straight in with the bayonet. In the guts. Then the upward rip to the throat. Argie guts on the ground. Dog food!

Sorry, but I don't speak or read third world languages or comprehend your miserable attempts at ungrammatical English. I presume you speak a sort of bastardised Spanish which would be scorned in educated circles, in which, obviously you are barred from frequenting.
Not only that, you don't appear too know WHO you are.
I was replying to 195. Who are you ? It looks like as if you are in the mid stages of dementia as you can't remember in what name you posted last time.
Also. I speak English but I am Scottish. I am quite happy to read and speak the most popular language in the world. You should try it sometime. It would probably raise you out of the gutter where you reside.
mmm just because you say it,
does not meen you earn it, or that you are an american,
after all we could say we earned one million pounts abd we are canadian,
would you belive it,

as for 209, we think someone at merco press is playing with the replies.
Poor brits sooner or later they will run out of friends, and more and more people will push for a national nuclear defense program to keep the thieves from stealing natural resources from natives. I think this people should be hunted down and sent home.
Why don't you just give it a rest, you boring boring person.
You continue to spout the same tedious drivel, unsupported by any evidence whatsoever, and we're all sick to death of it.
This isn't about what the UK or Argentina wants. It's about us, the Falkland Islanders, and our right to live unmolested under the government of our choosing. You have never provided a shred of evidence that the UN doesn't recognise our right not to be subjugated.
This isn't propaganda. And your easy dismisal of us is a perfect illustration of everything that's wrong with you, and your government, and your ludicrous 200 year old tantrum.
What's necessary is for you to wonder what you would do with a population that really don't want you, with a society, economy, legal and political system that has been nearly two centuries in the making.
Actually, I think I know what you would do with us. There are precedents, and you don't need to look too far back to find them.
MONTY.
For being honest, i feel so frustrated every time i see that people who have such a decadent thought answer my comments, especially when i see that some of them recur to the horrible things that happened in arg. in the past, like you did in your comment, in order to compare them with the actual context, or to speculate about what might happen in the future, it shows how mediocre those people are. I have always expected to have a serious debate, but i realize it's not easy.
I have never been interested in persuading absoluty anybody in this forum, what i just want to do, is to give my opinion, and to tell what is omitted by both governments, however wether you or anybody else take what i say, is irrelevant for me, because everybody have right to think whatever they want, but there s nothing more important than the facts.
Accept them or not, the facts show that self determination has never been applied for this case, in fact, i recommended you and many others to get into the website of the u. n., and you'll see that there is not any resolution which says: application of the right to self determination for the population from the malvinas-falkland islands. Anyway, beyond this fact, i have never denied that perhaps that right is applicable for the people from the islands, but because of the u. n's posture, i have always thought that the application of self determination for this case is hightly arguable.
221 axel arg
The UN's posture, and you will find this in every press release from the C24, is that there are 16 territories, including the Falkland Islands, yet to exercise their right to self determination and become decolonised.
There is no resolution that specifically applies the right to self determination to the Falkland Islands; there is no resolution applying that right to any of the other territories either. I have looked on the website of the UN, and that is what it says. It doesn't need to pass a resolution saying that the Falkland Islanders have the same rights as any other non-self- governing territory.
Don't give me all that stuff about a 'serious debate'. No-one can have a serious debate with you because you ignore the 'facts' if they don't support your position. All you ever do is say the same thing, over and over again.
I'll give you this advice for free; don't pin all your hopes on something the UN said fifty years ago. It's a different world now. The Secretary General of the UN said as much, quite recently.
@19 axel arg
Argentina is untrustworthy. When it lost the ICJ case over the Beagle Channel Islands after promising to abide by the outcome, it sent in its army to acquire them by force. War was oververted by Intervention of Pope John Paul II.

WHO reads your comments?
Only the bloody rubbish english people!
By your own words you must be english as you have read his comments and are replying.
Really Sussie you are getting confused , drugs or just plain stupid. Every time you post something ,under a different name , you make exactly the the same comments.
Argentine is anti-British, do we care ? Not really.
To be equated with people like you would be a serious insult.
@219 biased unnamed professor from low grade university is still biased. She's a product of the same garbage in garbage out educational system that you are teaching in and probably Aligns their beliefs with all argentines that the islands should be ethnically cleansed as they contain no Latinos, therefore no one worth considering.
Axel your fascist views make normal people nauseous. Your lack of citations make you foolsome.
Axel spouting lies again.
Not too much changed then.
Axel, for the umteenth time, you have NO RIGHTS here.
This is NOT Argentine land.
Stop telling lies about what the UN is supposed to have said.
Self-determination DOES apply to us, Axel.
Just go far away, you tedious & mediocre person.
Héctor Marcos Timerman (born December 16, 1953) is an Argentine journalist, sociologist, political and human rights activist [human rights, laugh laugh ]
He was named editor-in-chief of La Tarde in 1976, and steered the daily in support of the newly installed dictatorship.-- in 1981, he co-founded Americas Watch, the western hemisphere chapter of Human Rights Watch. He later served in the board of directors of the Fund for Free Expression

I was replying to the crap posted by #223-guess what. That piece of garbage was removed by MercoPress and I had nothing to do with it.
And who are you to make bad comments about the UK and The Falklands ? Actually, which name do you post in mostly.
Isn't it amazing the number of Argies who suddenly appear and then disappear on this forum only to pop up again uttering the same old tripe, with the same spelling and grammar mistakes, pretending to be a new poster.
I will bad mouth Argentina until they give up the ridiculous notion that the Falklands belong to them and until you lot of posters stop behaving with the manners of a troop of adolescent baboons. Does that answer your question ?
As to the rest of South America refusing to do business with the Falklands that remains to be seen. When Argentina implodes once again, there will be a sigh of relief from its neighbours.
The Falklanders will still be there getting on with life and attracting new settlers and business.
@233
All Comment removed by editor seem to be Argie bloggers, any reason for that or can you lot not argue your corner sensibly. Anyway you ( Argies can argue into you are blue in the face ) The FALKLANDS will remain a BRITISH OVERSEAS TERRITORY until the FALKLANDERS decide otherwise. DO YOU UNDERSTAND? NUMTIE, TOODLEPIP
@237
I very interesting statement. See you can make statements on Mercopress without being removed by the editor. Not difficult is it, or perhaps it is, having been educated in BA. Don't expect YOU to UNDERSTAND THIS though.
I have always expected to have a serious debate, but i realize it's not easy.
i think you misunderstand the meaning of debate.
You debate as all the argentine malvos do: you repeat state propaganda and claim it as fact.
@243 I don't think you understand axel. By his own statements, he is a teacher. Therefore, he is amongst the lowest of the argie low. In order to be an argie teacher you have to be essentially unemployable. Teacher equates to benefits claimant. But it also neatly avoids having to declare a correct unemployment figure. Most argie teachers would be hard put to explain why 1 + 1 equals 2. But there's more. They are part of the argie government indoctrination programme. They operate the regular compulsory government brainwashing sessions. So what credibility does this member of the argie government mind-warp gestapo actually have? Track him (?) back through the articles. He's supposed to be a teacher. Has his English improved? Of course not. He doesn't have that much education or intelligence. He still relies on the government-supplied script. He isn't even funny anymore. Just ignore him. At least, I think it's a him. Could it be female, a transexual, a hermaphodite, an androgyne?
Clyde: Why are you on line so much? Another goldbricker of the UK welfare state? Who says Argentines will implode or that Lat Am will be happy ? Certainly the USA will not be happy-Argenitna owes them lots of money. Why would anyone be happy to see any country implode-- unless of course they are depraved or stupid. Remember Argentina is a major trading partner of Lat Am, USA and the UK. Brits get their meat supply from Argentina ; without them you starve-you will not be able to afford meat-good bye to McDonalds of UK. The links between the British middle class and Argentina are too strong to be broken.
MONTY69. SHED TIME.
It was obvious that you both were going to give me such decadent answers. If i were somebody who doesn't have any critic posture like you are, i just would take into account what our official history says about this conflict, and what our politicians express before the international forums. However, you already know what i think about these two issues.
On the other hand, you don't need to believe what i say, just search in the news archive from this website, what the president from the d. c. said twice in 9 months, about the reaosns why self determination is not applicable for this case, the last time he refered to this case, was at a few days before the referendum. If you prefer to invalid what he said, because the concept that he expressed doesn't coincid with what you want to hear, sorry, but neather your lack of intellectual honesty, nor your low level of debate will change the legal situation of this conflict.
Anyway, shed time is right when he says that i should date my arguments, in my comment 219, i said i had an interview with an ex professor of public international right, but in my next comments i'm going to start to type some paragraphes of different authors who i included in my investigation, in order to support what i say.
poor sussie everytime she post's her crap under 10+ different names it gets removed must be really annoying still leaves her more time to get her massive arse streetside. Do our American cousins on here notice an unnatural dark period of time now and again , well thats when she goes streeetside, full eclipse of the moon due to arse
#245 Why are you on line so much?
Because I am running a daily program to copy 100,000 colour slides and negatives to my computer. As I have to hang around waiting on them processing, I keep my email running and watch what is happening in the posts.
Another goldbricker of the UK welfare state?
Depends on your point of view. I retired from the UK Civil Service at the mandatory age of 60 after working for 41 years.
I received my state pension at the age of 65 - hardly goldbricking.
Why would anyone be happy to see any country implode-- unless of course they are depraved or stupid.
Have you actually read what many of your Argentinian poster have written ? They all wish the UK serious harm.
MercoPress have had to remove 22 in this forum alone because they were highly offensive .
As to Argentina imploding, I think that with their current attitude and behaviour, there is a very good chance of it happening. I personally do not wish any Argentinian harm and if they gave up this continual we demand and world wide concern and support for las Malvinas, I would not bother reading MercoPress again.
As to trade with Argentina, your country keeps calling for boycotts of UK shipping and goods.
I was unaware that we got any meat from Argentina.
In all the shops and supermarkets where we shop, the beef is almost 100% Scotch with some Irish. The last time I saw Argentinian beef was in about 1952.
I personally would not be unhappy if McDonalds closed down. I have never eaten there.
The links between the British middle class and Argentina are too strong to be broken”
Tell that to your government as they are the ones hell-bent on breaking it..
SHED TIME.
Some of the books i used for my investigations are:
Las islas Malvinas y el derecho internacional, by Enrique Ferrer Vieyra.
Segunda cronología anotada sobre la cuestion Malvinas (Falkland islands), by Enrique Ferrer Vieyra.
In my next comments i can type some paragraphes that in included in my investgations, which belong to different athors who investigated about this question.
CHRISR.
Carlos escudé is a very serious and reliable politic analist, i often listen to him when i see him on tv, if i see him talking about this conflict, then i'll hear on what he thinks.
As an Uruguayan, I'm very ashamed of the disgusting words of Almagro and the stupid position of my government. It's not representative of the feeling that the well informed part of Uruguayan population has about Malvinas (as we'll always call Falkland in Spanish, no matter what islanders say. Sorry)
Only ignorant people and decadent ultra left-wingers could support argie position.
Remember the anagram of the Spanish demonym argentino? In Spanish it's ignorante.
Do you need a translation for the anagram?
You are confirming what most of us believe, I think - these Uruguaysn politicos do NOT speak for the people of Uruguay. They have their own agenda.
Interesting that Pepe said nothing, himself.
@256
But Almagro does speak for all Uruguayans. He was appointed by President Mujica, who was democratically elected, to speak for all Uruguayans on matters of foreign policy.
I think that we can safely assume that caalone did not vote for Mujica though.
@257
No. You are absolutely wrong. This is not a matter of left or right, of who voted Mujica or not. It's a matter of information and sensibility. So you can't assume nothing about things you ignore. For example, the normal point of view of uruguayan or chilean people about argie reclamations.
As I wrote before, Almagro words does not represent the majority voice of the people in Uruguay. But you can be sure, people does not vote thinking in Malvinas affairs. Nowhere but Argentina (and not always).
You said that Almagro speaks for all Uruguayans, etc. Half of the population did not vote Mujica. However, in both halves you can find people supporting, rejecting or ignoring argie reclamations.
But the point remains that Almagro words and official positions are not welcomed. In fact, most of the people feel disgusted here with this kind of disrepectful and insensitive words supporting argie aggressive claims. (@255 Pepe said nothing maybe but I'm pretty sure he thinks more or less the same than Almagro)
@256 again, in what parallel universe do you live? I don't know where your home is but it's astounding you believe your government or even your own elected representatives (including those you voted on purpose) always speak for you, your family, friends or neighbours. Or the whole nation.
@258
The Uruguayan Secretary is appointed by the democratically elected president to speak for all Uruguayans on matters of foreign policy. That's the job description. So he does speak for Uruguay and all Uruguayans - including you!
If you do not like what he says then you should have elected a different president.
@261
I'm saying that if you plan to give lessons in democracy and representativeness, first try to remember (or to learn most probably) that Cuba or North Korea are examples of countries where you can say what you said.
On the contrary, in democratic countries you are free to feel and say aloud that your government, including your foreign minister, does not speak for you and for most of your countrymen. And in this case, declarations about Falkland, it's just plain obvious in Chilean and Uruguayan societies.

Mar 28th, 2013 - 10:56 am - Link - Report abuse 0Luis Almagro (an amerindian name?) is in no position to talk about the territorial integrity of South America.

Joke!

Mar 28th, 2013 - 11:20 am - Link - Report abuse 0That referendum clearly got Argentina rattled.
Mar 28th, 2013 - 11:23 am - Link - Report abuse 0For starters, who brought the railways to South America.....the British....not the Spanish, the Italians or the Portuguese....who introduced football to South America....the British.....who introduced other sports like rugby union, polo and horse racing to South America....the British.
So, in the photo who do we think is the stooper, and who is the stabber? Trimmerman's mouth looks a bit bruised so I'm guessing he 'went sissy'.

Mar 28th, 2013 - 11:49 am - Link - Report abuse 0Obviously, the referendum was legal as:
1. There is no specific law that Argentina can rely on to nullify it.
2. Argentina by her failure to legally challenge it, has given tacit consent, with her acquiescence.

Mar 28th, 2013 - 05:55 pm - Link - Report abuse 0The Argentinian government has to complain or face political suicide. Remember that everyone in Argentina believes that Britain took the islands from Argentina by invasion in 1833 as the absolute truth, and wants them back. Of course everyone thinks that what CFK is doing is idiotic, but they won´t ever let the government stop doing anything they can to get the islands.

I'm sure pictures and reality are lying, and you are telling the truth lol.
That's why I'm not racist against Americans. You are too mentally atrophied to be hated. I just pitty americans.

Mar 28th, 2013 - 06:33 pm - Link - Report abuse 0Too late. I think the internet is representative of people's views. They say things they feel and would never say in person for fear of ridicule or physical harm.
Territorial integrity is the principle under international law that nation-states should not attempt to promote secessionist movements or to promote border changes in other nation-states.
Mar 28th, 2013 - 06:33 pm - Link - Report abuse 0The idea of a continent (as opposed to a nation state) demanding TI is totally contradictory.

That's probably when Almagro made his ridiculous comments about the FI belonging to 'Latin America!
Mar 28th, 2013 - 10:42 pm - Link - Report abuse 0Its worth revisiting what Latin America means/is, according to Wikipedia Latin America is...
'Latin America (Spanish: América Latina or Latinoamérica; Portuguese: América Latina; French: Amérique latine, Dutch: Latijns-Amerika) is a region of the Americas where Romance languages (i.e., those derived from Latin) – particularly Spanish and Portuguese, and variably French – are primarily spoken.'
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Latin_America
After reading a few article about this it seems, Latin-America derived its name from (Britain, USA, Canada) Anglo nations and simply means non Anglo-Saxon America. The FI speak English and the majority of people who live their are of British decent so the Falklands Islands are NOT Latin America...
'Falkland Islands ~ an archipelago located in the South Atlantic Ocean'

Mar 28th, 2013 - 11:45 pm - Link - Report abuse 0■The EU is Argentina's second export market, after Brazil, China and US.

Mar 29th, 2013 - 02:24 am - Link - Report abuse 0SA 80 as was, fires a smaller 5.56 round, 30 rounds to a mag, unlike his colleague in the Falklands, today's infantryman can carry 5 the ammunition for the same weight of the 7.65.
Nice, isn't it?
Unadulterated Racism. Plain & Simple. If the Falkland Islanders were spanish speaking things would look diffferent?

Mar 29th, 2013 - 11:50 am - Link - Report abuse 0The tumbling bit was and is a fallacy after the yanks shortened the twist rate in their barrels.

Dear Hector and Co,
Mar 29th, 2013 - 03:57 pm - Link - Report abuse 0UN resolution 2065 made in 1965 was made void by Argentina's decision to settle its sovereignty dispute with the UK by its unlawful invasion in 1982.
Comprende?

Mar 31st, 2013 - 12:18 am - Link - Report abuse 0The UN's posture, and you will find this in every press release from the C24, is that there are 16 territories, including the Falkland Islands, yet to exercise their right to self determination and become decolonised.

Mar 31st, 2013 - 08:34 am - Link - Report abuse 0Argentina is untrustworthy. When it lost the ICJ case over the Beagle Channel Islands after promising to abide by the outcome, it sent in its army to acquire them by force. War was oververted by Intervention of Pope John Paul II.

Axel, for the umteenth time, you have NO RIGHTS here.
This is NOT Argentine land.
Stop telling lies about what the UN is supposed to have said.
Self-determination DOES apply to us, Axel.
Just go far away, you tedious & mediocre person.

Mar 31st, 2013 - 07:51 pm - Link - Report abuse 0I was replying to the crap posted by #223-guess what.

Apr 01st, 2013 - 10:13 am - Link - Report abuse 0I very interesting statement. See you can make statements on Mercopress without being removed by the editor. Not difficult is it, or perhaps it is, having been educated in BA. Don't expect YOU to UNDERSTAND THIS though.
@240 Isolde, Was it you that identified the argentine approach to life because I've forgotten the term?
Apr 01st, 2013 - 10:48 am - Link - Report abuse 0For being honest, i feel so frustrated every time i see that people who have such a decadent thought answer my comments, especially when i see that some of them recur to the horrible things that happened in arg. in the past, like you did in your comment, in order to compare them with the actual context, or to speculate about what might happen in the future, it shows how mediocre those people are. I have always expected to have a serious debate, but i realize it's not easy.
Apr 01st, 2013 - 11:41 am - Link - Report abuse 0i think you misunderstand the meaning of debate.
You debate as all the argentine malvos do: you repeat state propaganda and claim it as fact.
that isnt debate: its regurgitation.
Apr 01st, 2013 - 04:02 pm - Link - Report abuse 0Clyde: Why are you on line so much? Another goldbricker of the UK welfare state? Who says Argentines will implode or that Lat Am will be happy ? Certainly the USA will not be happy-Argenitna owes them lots of money. Why would anyone be happy to see any country implode-- unless of course they are depraved or stupid. Remember Argentina is a major trading partner of Lat Am, USA and the UK. Brits get their meat supply from Argentina ; without them you starve-you will not be able to afford meat-good bye to McDonalds of UK. The links between the British middle class and Argentina are too strong to be broken.

Apr 01st, 2013 - 07:59 pm - Link - Report abuse 0It was obvious that you both were going to give me such decadent answers.
#245 Why are you on line so much?
Apr 02nd, 2013 - 12:50 pm - Link - Report abuse 0Because I am running a daily program to copy 100,000 colour slides and negatives to my computer.

Apr 02nd, 2013 - 02:54 pm - Link - Report abuse 0Some of the books i used for my investigations are:

Segunda cronología anotada sobre la cuestion Malvinas (Falkland islands), by Enrique Ferrer Vieyra.
In my next comments i can type some paragraphes that in included in my investgations, which belong to different athors who investigated about this question.

Apr 03rd, 2013 - 05:16 pm - Link - Report abuse 0Good article.
As an Uruguayan, I'm very ashamed of the disgusting words of Almagro and the stupid position of my government. It's not representative of the feeling that the well informed part of Uruguayan population has about Malvinas (as we'll always call Falkland in Spanish, no matter what islanders say. Sorry)
Apr 03rd, 2013 - 06:19 pm - Link - Report abuse 0Only ignorant people and decadent ultra left-wingers could support argie position.
Remember the anagram of the Spanish demonym argentino? In Spanish it's ignorante.
Do you need a translation for the anagram?
@255candalone
Apr 04th, 2013 - 03:04 am - Link - Report abuse 0Thank you for your honest post.
You are confirming what most of us believe, I think - these Uruguaysn politicos do NOT speak for the people of Uruguay. They have their own agenda.
Interesting that Pepe said nothing, himself.
@256
Apr 04th, 2013 - 09:18 am - Link - Report abuse 0But Almagro does speak for all Uruguayans. He was appointed by President Mujica, who was democratically elected, to speak for all Uruguayans on matters of foreign policy.
I think that we can safely assume that caalone did not vote for Mujica though.
@257
Apr 04th, 2013 - 01:34 pm - Link - Report abuse 0No.
@258
Apr 05th, 2013 - 06:56 am - Link - Report abuse 0The Uruguayan Secretary is appointed by the democratically elected president to speak for all Uruguayans on matters of foreign policy. That's the job description. So he does speak for Uruguay and all Uruguayans - including you!
If you do not like what he says then you should have elected a different president.
@259 Funny comment, but it's a fallacy in the end. You know exactly what I mean.
Apr 05th, 2013 - 12:13 pm - Link - Report abuse 0@260
Apr 06th, 2013 - 05:11 am - Link - Report abuse 0As a matter of fact I have no idea what you mean. Are you saying that Luis Almagro is not the foreign minister of Uruguay?
@261
Apr 06th, 2013 - 09:56 pm - Link - Report abuse 0I'm saying that if you plan to give lessons in democracy and representativeness, first try to remember (or to learn most probably) that Cuba or North Korea are examples of countries where you can say what you said.
On the contrary, in democratic countries you are free to feel and say aloud that your government, including your foreign minister, does not speak for you and for most of your countrymen. And in this case, declarations about Falkland, it's just plain obvious in Chilean and Uruguayan societies.
Enough said.
