The Falkland Islands will be holding a memorial service for the late Baroness Thatcher on Wednesday 17th April, which has been declared a public holiday, announced the local government.
All members of the Falklands community have been welcomed to attend.
The release says that the Legislative Assembly declared April 17 a public holiday as a mark of respect and to allow all those who wish to attend the memorial.
The ceremony will be held at Christ Church Cathedral on Wednesday 17 April at 2pm.
The service is being held in the afternoon in order to allow the community to follow the funeral service held in the UK that morning.
Other than for HE Governor, Members of the Legislative Assembly and CBFSAI, seating in the Cathedral will be on a first-come first-served basis. Uniform and decorations may be worn at an individual’s discretion.
Arrangements will be made for extra capacity in the Parish Hall should the Cathedral be full. The service will be broadcast live on the Falkland Islands Radio Service, and recorded by Falkland Islands Television. The Jetty Centre carpark will be open for the afternoon as additional parking for the service.
