Wonderful display of SA solidarity, and what with the Chileans in Santiago putting up pictures and posies in memory of Mrs T, there seems to be support for Rgland on the surface, but in reality its actually all fur coat and no knickers!

There is no such thing as the Malvinas.

Well, they couldn't really have an effective political slogan saying “1/4 of us are Chavez” now could they?

Not at all, Nestor was visibly cross-eyed and Cristina is getting oldish. Even I agree with those statements :)

Well I find myself agreeing with Stevie and Think on the comments made by Mujica, because this is not earth shattering news. The other famous quote about “a-z theives” is also in the opinion of many.
In the end, the comments were made in private, although I did find them amusing.

You see yanqui, now they are translating correct again

“the old lady is worse than the one eyed man”

They even got “tuerto” right, even is the statement is wrong as Nestor was cross-eyed and not one-eyed.

    You feel sorry for her?
What can I say, she must be a very lucky woman...

She tries so hard to be smart, relevant and project beauty but she is clearly uneducated, ignored by the civilized world and looks like an old cracked out hooker.
Her last trip to the USA was an embarrassment.
I feel sorry for her, she is a very sick old lady that will probably have the same end as Mussolini or Chauchesku.

Nothing or nobody will ever separate Uruguay from Argentina, there we have the public persona, however, we have also heard the private persona. Awful bloody things those microphones, nasty habit of picking up people vocalising their true feelings. You would have thought that those people familiar with them would be exercising care about what they say around them, apparently not, Gordon Brown for instance.

Stevie - all your remarks which refer to the Latin American “hermandad” are crap. I lived long enough in Latin America - over 30 years - and have been married to a Latina for nearly 50 years to know that Argentina treats the rest of Latin Ameica with utter disdain. And, equally, the rest of Latin America treats Argentina with disdain.

Do you know why? Because most Argentines, especially los porteños, are the most arrogant beings ever created - they think they created to be the most macho, the most guapo, the most intelligente, etc etc, And they are not! They are just average!

We regret the death of the Iron Lady, Margaret Thatcher. Controversial, valiant, with strong character and a friend of Colombia” wrote Santos in his twitter, on hearing the news on Monday.

Chile’ Sebastian Piñera praised Baroness Thatcher’s determination and her contribution to bringing down the Berlin Wall, the Iron Curtain and promoting freedom and democracy in every corner of the world.

The Mexican government in an official release regretted the loss of “a figure of great prominence” in the political scenario of the UK and the world.

Mexico acknowledges her legacy “in the economic modernization and structural transformation of the UK, as well as the advances and achievements” in dialogue and cooperation between nations during her years in office.

Mexican president Enrique Peña Nieto on an official visit to Japan twitted his condolences to the British people over the death of Margaret Thatcher.

The government of Costa Rica expressed ‘consternation and deep condolences to the people and government of the UK” on the death of Margaret Thatcher which it described as “an outstanding political figure of the XXth century”.

It does not matter what people feel about the Brits.

They have nothing to do with the disdain that Argentina feels for Uruguay and Uruguay's dislike of the Argentinisns because of it.

YOU introduced the “Brits are arrogant” comments.

“Merely stating the obvious”, perhaps, but the way the Argentine press reported it, that was a major 'slap in the face' to a narcissistic CFK who is also playing the 'widow card'.
To top it off, the Argentinian government sent an official nasty letter to Uruguay.

Surely these polls are irrelevant because (according to Argentina) the Uruguayans are an 'implanted population' and are therefore not entitled to express their views nor is there a 'UN mandate' to allow them to do so.

this has got to be the most pointless, asinine, juvenile set of comments on the entire website.... stevie is just spewing out trolling and you folks are encouraging him/her/it.

He's about 19, hasnt travelled, is probably a virgin and is utterly clueless the minute you take wikipedia away from him.

why are you bothering with him?

Seriously, just read this thread - its just a bunch of children calling each other names.

Its the exact result that CFKs propaganda machine would want - kill the worth of the news article by descending immediately into name-calling & vitriol.

time to start using your built-in /ignore feature folks....

not too mention that ThinkDover will be back from his hols soon. ¬_¬

You are one of them whos strongest arguments are name-calling.
I don't have to call you anything in order to laugh at you :)

I don't know about childish, I appreciated the way that mastershakejb kept bringing the discussion back “on topic”. We may all agree that Nestor had funny looking eyes and Christana is old and nasty looking, but the point that Mujica is wisely making is that the wife is far worse than the husband and I'm very sorry he feels the need to apologize for stating the bleeding obvious.

I should not worry about Yankeeboy, I think that the comment was really meant for our friends across the Plate. :o)

During the Falkland war,Uruguay gave a lot of support to GB ,more than Chile did,and were happy when Argentina lost.

Talk about biased support. A fascist military junta did all this, you say?
I'm sure Gregorio Alvarez agreed with the Brits, he obviously didn't agree with the Uruguayans...

    Hahahaha
