Britain has decided not to invite Argentine President Cristina Kirchner to the funeral of former Prime Minister Margaret Thatcher, Downing Street said on Thursday. The decision follows on a special request from the Thatcher family. However Ambassdor Alicia Castro will be invited since according to diplomatic protocol Britain has normal relations with the UK, and it is a state to state issue. President Fernandez shouldn't feel slighted. The fact that she was not invited to the witch's funeral should be worn like a badge of honour. Las Malvinas son argentinas!

This is a stupid story. Why would an Argentinian want to go to her funeral anyway?
The Continental
Why is this news? I don't think Argentineans are losing any sleep over not being invited to her funeral. In fact, if I were Argentinean, I would take it as an insult if they were to invite me.
holypolarbear
Thatcher started a dirty war against them and killed the Argentinians, so why they go to her funeral. She is hateful in Argentina as in GB.
holypolarbear
Gee, are you supporting this criminal dictator who was behind S African Apartheid? Malvina belongs to Argentina, no matter a military junta is in power or an elected government. The conflict in Malvina could be solved through negotiation, as UN suggested at that time, but negotiation needs open mind and some brain. Non of them were in her head.

so-far , for your info - as it is being pushed deliberatley by a minority who would not even be abe to explain the social issues of the 1960s-70s-80s in UK (and can you?) many of which were not even born at the time - it is very unlikley that the briadcast media will note it and play it anyway in the charts review.

Apr 12th, 2013 - 08:00 am - Link - Report abuse 0Blesed Helber, thou art gifted with foresight. Prior to the 1st gulf war, the baddest middle eastern boy was Iran and Iraq was a western allie, but things change. Would you rather MT was a friend of the Junta than Pinochet? The defeat of the Junta gave you freedom from an oppressive regime and prevented you guys from invading Chile. MT was no friend of Pol Pot and Soharto was lauded by many countries besides Britain. It later it became apparent that things were not as they seem, but Helber you have hindsight and not foresight. For many years from 1850-1941 Britain and Argentina had perfect friendship (see the treaty of settlement) and look what a bunch of governmental misfits you've churned out.. are you going to chastise early british governments for that too?
@44 : As I have pointed out in other posts , Maggie Thatcher actually married Galtieri after Dennis died .Though very frail , he will be at the funeral , he looks very different after plastic surgery .
Apr 12th, 2013 - 08:18 am - Link - Report abuse 0She wasn't just Saddam's friend , she even sold Iraq nuclear bombs and submarines , only the cheque bounced , so we had to go to war to recover them .
She also had a cat called Larry and Tony Blair's wife had it assassinated when they took over 10 Downing St . Because the Blair's were Labour , no one complained though . Cats are the running dogs of the capitalist bourgeousie .Death to Cats ! Muerte a los gatos !
Pinochet told Maggie about holding prisoners in the Estadio Nacional . Maggie had thousands of communist miners rounded up in Hillsborough stadium and shot .
Clever media manipulation made it appear that it was crowd control gone wrong .
Her son , Sir Mark Thatcher , owns the uranium mines in the Malvinas .
Unemployed people from England are worked to death in those mines .
In the UK , some people are richer than others , and some are even made to work... Can you imagine , the horror !
No one in the UK wants to keep the Malvinas , but Dick Sawle is a cousin of the Queen , and anyone suggesting the islands are given to Argentina is arrested by the Royal Navy ( Princess Anne's husband is the Chief ) and taken away , probably to Admiralty Arch , and made to watch re-runs of Crossroads till they recant .
I fully intend to ask the Ecuadorians for asylum as soon as Assange vacates .
