Chilean company Lan Airlines said on Saturday it was “gradually resuming” domestic and international flights in Argentina that it had suspended on Friday due to a conflict with state-run Intercargo company. May 20th, 2013 - 05:53 am - Link - Report abuse 0The government and its controlled entities are kicking so many own goals that blind Freddy can see what's happening.
On a side note, this is a glaring reason why the Falkland Islands will never believe anything the Argentine government says. Ignoring the rule of law is hand in hand with the erosion of checks and balances. Not one will trust Argentina when this sort of industrial blackmail happens.
Intercargo was nationalized in 2012 and has control over all ground services in all Argentine airports. As happened with nationalized Aerolineas Argentinas, the company fell under the control of La Campora which is the youth militant group headed by the son of President Cristina Fernandez, Maximo Kirchner
May 20th, 2013 - 06:09 am - Link - Report abuse 0well, well, well................are we suprised that the corruption and ignoring the rule of law would lead striaght to the top??
No, not really.............
I remember Mrs Thatcher sorting out a set of unions that held the country to ransom.
May 20th, 2013 - 10:10 am - Link - Report abuse 0Though this is a bit different ...
... Argentina seems to be holding itself to ransom.
With its hands around its own throat, it is croaking:
If we all just choke off this throat of ours .. at least us legs should be able to walk away from these little problems.
An elementary principle of reciprocity tells Chile to apply to Aerolineas Argentinas the same treatment LAN is receiving from the usually unfriendly neighbor.

May 20th, 2013 - 07:26 pm - Link - Report abuse 0Yes it is a massive victory to mug the only company that has invested in the domestic airline industry.
$18 million... that will keep Aerolineas in the air for 9 days (they lose $2 million a day). Lan has $4 billion of investments planed over the next 2 year, I guess they might review how much of that goes in to Argentina. That sounds like a victory in the style of one of those goals Scotland are so good at...own goals...1998 world cup opener, minute 73

Typical Argentines, banging on about everyone else being illegal (who don't break any laws) whilst actually breaking the laws themselves.
