All ready for the massive ‘decade won’ celebration of ten years of Kirchnerite rule

Full article 220 comments

All is ready for the massive ‘decade won’ celebration that President Cristina Fernández plans to hold on Saturday May 25 to commemorate the ten years since her late husband Nestor Kirchner first took office, but which must also be interpreted as a rally in support of her administration battered by inflation, a slowing economy, political battles and growing claims of rampant corruption. Who is Fito Paez? And why would any self-respecting rock “star” perform at a political rally? If he/she does covers then to “celebrate” 10-years of the Kirchners I'd have to go for “I fought the Law” (The Clash), “Heaven knows I'm miserable now” (The Smiths), “It's the end of the world” (REM) or “Always look on the bright side of life”.

It is a characteristjc of dictatorships that they have to hold so called rallies like this with the dictator giving stirring speeches. Civilised nations eschew this sort of thing wheras nutjobs like Rgland persist with it.

    The Nazis
    North Korea
    Iran
    Zimbabwe
    Cuba

You never see a modern North American or European nation holding such an event, its the sign of what is fast becoming a pariah, failed dictatorship. Rgs are so thick they can't see it.

CFK is essentially using all the power of the state for a political rally, when the distinction between an elected government & the state becomes minimal i.e. control of the central bank, the judiciary & all aspects of the economy........we essentially have a dictatorship!!!

Yankee I think blaming 40mm in Argentina for allowing her to go one is tantamount to blaming everyone, all 317 million in the USA for Obamacare and Obama being in office........just my thought.
How sad this event is....even if she had accomplished good for Argentina, what kind of an individual throws a party for themselves and their so called accomplishment?
Perhaps she can start by celebrating the rift between Argentina and Brazil,
the 60 WTO trade complaints from numerous countries,
the inflation rate of 30%, the real value of the peso,
the capital flight of big business,
the outlawing of owning foreign currency,
the elimination of the freedom of the press,
the taking control of the judiciary,

But not everything was taken away. Government control has prospered and flourished,
    Government corruption increased exponentially,
    Crime has increased,
The Kirchner youth corps is out in full force,
    Imports of fuel has increased,

Yes there is much to celebrate. They really should be partying with Venezuela.....but too many people in one place could create a shitstorm and limited supplies of toilet.....could be disasterous.

The Queen is the head of state and is apolitical.
However, if Cameron or Miliband i.e. the ones facing election, used state funds to hold a “look how great I am” party then yes that would be the precise equivalent. But they don't. For political events they must use the funds of their own party.

Think is showing a very high level of desperation in here trying to muddy the waters with the topic in hand.

Does anyone from Argentina (excluding BK the wannabe Scott) really think its a decade won? And when your country is quite literally on its knees having a rally like this? It's so inappropriate and ridiculous on so many levels you'd have to be unconnected to reality to think its suitable, reasonable or decent.

And before you answer if your only answer is to try to argue something about the UK don't bother. This isn't about the UK, its about the topic in hand. It's extremely weak to keep trying to deflect attention.

Attention of Malvinista Deadbeats. Have any of you heard, from any of your sources in Argentina, how many people attended the shambles party? Surely you all know. I mean you must at least know people who live in Argentina.

Come on Think. What about you? You must know SOMEBODY who lives in Argentina. The way you carry on about it, I mean. How many people went to your crooked queen's little party?

Or maybe Marcos knows someone in Argentina who can tell HIM.

Depends of what parameters you use, dear Kelper Joe...........
Using MercoPress's or Clarin's ”Unusual parameters”; at least 45 million people.............

Judging by the TV pictures and usufructing from my own humble experience on Buenos Aires and Plaza de Mayo demostrations, I would say....... some 200 to 250,000 persons were there enjoying their Saturday eveining in peace and civility.

    Funny old things Argie trolls

In 1982 250,000 celebrated the invasion of the Falklands in the Plaza de Mayo - now they say that nobody in Argentina supported it.

Today they claim 250,000 celebrated the lost decade in the Plaza de Mayo.

So using their undeniable logic you have to assume that this 250,000 don't support KFC in the same way that they didn't support Argentine imperialism

You ask:”... Does anyone from Argentina (excluding BK the wannabe Scott) really think its a decade won?“

Absolutely not, it was a ”decade lost”, the kirchnerite plague claim success by comparing today with 2001, but what they don't explain is how we had an economy that grew an average of 9% between 2003 and 2009 and yet we have no foreign reserves, 25% of the population are below the (Argentine) poverty line and the unemployment and under employment rates are climbing fast towards Spanish levels as huge numbers of large AND small companies close their doors!!!!!!!

Not only is it a “lost decade”, we have also raised two generations of lay abouts who do not know the meaning of the work ethic. It is going to take 20 - 30 years to put this country back together again, if we can find a real patriot among the politicians which is a folorne hope!!!!!

There has been a study that showed that Chile “masks” their poverty rate, it should be 5-7% higher. Also, it also showed that millions more are one recession away from poverty. The only reason they are not, and I will give credit here, is that Chile has not suffered a violent recession in over a decade. But once it does, it will have poverty jumping at least 10% points very quickly.

However, in economic terms, you don't. Argentina has retreated to the edge of a cliff - therefore you starve.

You don't seem to have any appreciation of the poverty and hardship that the population of Argentina faces on behalf of its corrupt government.

Perhaps you don't think it will impact you.
La Campora will be useful stooges until push comes to shove, and they are discarded.

Maybe you don't think that will happen to someone as clever as you?
Or maybe you don't live in Mendoza afterall, and have no stake in the future of Argentina?

Either way, I don't know how you can be proud of your convictions and (lack of ) values.

So you want to drag Chile into this argument? Ok, fine.

According to international independent statistics, Chile  poverty rate should be at 15% instead of the official 14.4% reported. (15% was the rate under our former and future socialist president.). You can read how the Chilean government calculates the poverty level, and before you start criticizing it, you should know it was designed by the socialist administration of Ricardo Lagos, and seems to reflect reality. (Yes, in progressive Chile, we have a lot of poor.)

...Meanwhile across the Andes, our neighbors use something less than reality to report ridiculously low poverty rates...

SIX Argentine pesos according to the CFK government, is more than sufficient to buy an entire day’s food... Yes, in the land of mysterious inflation and bizarre currency policies, INDEC, the Argentine national statistics agency, says that a family of four should be considered above the poverty line if its monthly food bill exceeds  688 pesos, equal to about six pesos per person per day.

Another stupid asinine statement on you part: “This after 40 years of Miltonomics. ” What do you suggest  instead? After 40 years of Peronist economic policies?

Finally, despite all their internal problems and serious poverty; Peru, Mexico, and Paraguay have shown in the past decade far better improvement overall in reducing their poverty rates, encouraging tremendous international investment and vastly improving their economic growth.    ¿¿¿Argentina???

    Now in your imagination...

If Cristina liberated a foreign country from a dictator who used chemical weapons against his own people, then ensured a peaceful transition to a democratically elected government for that country, who could then award resource licences to whomever they so chose....

Yes, I'd be embarrassed and retract nearly all of my criticism of her...but of course Argentina would invade, use the civilians as a human shield whilst ensuring all resources became the property of Argentina.

    There's the difference Stevie...

You lot left a mess in Iraq, there is NO democracy and NO peaceful transition whatsoever. There are daily bombings and a sad amount of vultures making a profit of the natural resources of that abused nation.
From (re)building contracts to cheap oil contracts and the casual looting of Saddams stolen money. But hey, to steal from a thief is ok, isn't it?

And now when the mission is accomplished (read oil contracts are signed), you lot are trying to find a way out of the mess, leaving the Iraqi people in worse conditions than that bastard Hussein ever managed to, with the exception of the Kurds. Add the fact that you lot bombed them some 200 years back in time.

@143 What is your obsession with Iraq? This article is about CFK celebrating 10 years of lining her pockets at the expense of every. single. Argentine. not in her gang. Your answer to that embarrassing situation is to cite Iraq as being worse?

CFK spent a portion of her speech talking about her being 'eternal' (she wishes) and blaming all the problems on anyone but herself. I am sure historians will look at the video of the crazy lady dancing in widow's weeds as a perfect vignette of how she ran the country.

Now, having saved Kuwait, and the stopped the knock on effect, we've made some enemies, but nothing like the number of friends, who now don't live under the tyranny of Saddam...the Kuwaitis are free, the Kurds aren't being gassed, and 11 million Iraqis voted in their last election.

    Stevie

First off, I lost my mother when I was 18, so impossible. But thank you a glimpse of your soul.

    Second, why did you lie?
    Why do you lie?
    Why do you lie?
Why did you lie and pretend you couldn't speak or understand Spanish?

You keep highlighting that you lie.

    You lie
    You lie
    You lie

It is you that is highlighting this, not me.

So now you speak Spanish. What did you hope to gain by pretending otherwise? I don't care either way whether you speak it or not, but I am extremely happy to highlight that you keep lying and I keep showing it.

“If you like me have difficulties with the Spanish language, try inserting the link in google translate.”

“My Spanish might be rusty, and I confess I'm no good at reading or typing the language, but my understanding of the spoken language is enough to make out that he actually says that in the video.”

You don't live in Uruguay. The only way you could be Uruguayan is if you are an expat..... what did you say about expats?

“A country's perception of it's own internal matters will always outweight a critical expat who thinks he knows better. With all respect, if you don't like it, you can do what you've seemingly done before, pack your bags and leave. Where I reside has nothing to do with the subject, I'm not here to discuss my personal life with you.”

    Andy and Anglotino,

As you both suspect, Stevie/Guzz is a product of several generations of Argentine Gypsy inbreeding. He is NOT from Uruguay.

The best solution is for CFK to mount an invasion force of a few freighters filled with freedom fighters from la Campora like Stevie/Guzz and send them to liberate Bouvet Island which clearly belongs to Argentina. Knowing the state of the Argentine Navy, they'll probably sink before invading or the group will freeze to death after storming the beach.

    It's EASY to understand...

We are just plain disgusted listening to you all yelping and making a scandal because of your own stupidity. You whine about no one wanting to loan you money: how about you honoring your commitments?
You cry because the IMF is sanctioning you: how about you stop telling big whoppers about your inflation and be honest for a change. You bawl because of the WTO rulings against Argentina: how about being fair and complying with the trade agreements you signed? You whimper because international investors are fleeing your country: how about your country stop the practice of raping corporations that have tried to? You wail and spit and cry and act like wounded animals everytime your theiving masters invoke the mythical lost Malvinas: how about accepting the Falklands are, and NEVER will be a part of your excuse of a democratic country? You bitch and quack about not being as wealthy as you were in the 1920s: how about not electing any more Peronist bastards to office that are only good for stealing from you?

I have friends in Mendoza and San Juan who can't answer the questions either...

    191 ToLLey,
It is actually simple. When I joined this blog; It took me a few minutes to realize that most participants hate everything that progressive governments in the region do. It has been a while and I have been proven correct. Many participants are experts on every issue because they read CLARIN.

So I guess your answer is we do all that and engage in self-mass starvation. Because doing all that you say would lead exactly to that, as the rest of the world has no interest in being “fair” to Argentina.

    @191 Nostrils

Perhaps we need to keep repeating the same thing again and again because some Argentineans are just too plain thick to see shit that is straight in front of them.

    But don't worry we'll persevere.

For instance even you are now aware that YOU CAN'T ARGUE.

“I still don't understand why 190 messages by foreigners trashing Argentina”

And yet 10 of those posts are your own!

25 are Stevie. That's 13% by someone who pretends to live in Uruguay but won't actually say which country he DOES live in.

So I count 29 posts by people who identify as living in Argentina. Include Stevie and you have 54 posts.

Nearly 30% of posts are on your side and yet you aren't intelligent enough to realise that. You're too busy feeding your persecution complex like a good little spoon-fed citizen. Don't question. Don't think. Don't challenge. Just radicalise yourself as you are obviously under siege.

So Stevie posts nearly as much as all the Argentineans and yet you have never castigate him as a foreigner commenting.

Because you are a sycophant and you relate to other sycophants. You are clearly xenophobic and that is not something I am going try and convince you is wrong. You will never be happy because you are part of the problem.

The loathing you feel is towards yourself and is the knowledge that you empower your own government to commit so many wrongs against you and your fellow citizens.

You continually highlight individual crimes and actions by others in other countries as evidence of societal failings and problems and yet it is your own individual actions that you detest the most. It is your actions and the same actions by millions of other Argentineans that commit greater damage than two deluded Muslim extremists on the streets of London.

God I'd love to know what you are studying at uni but alas as per most Argentineans you prefer to present a small target on here. A trait that helps you deal with your own government and its persecution industry. .

I don't mean to keep harping on this but is Merco Press going to post CFK's speech in its entirety?

If they did that, that would keep everybody busy for a week. An article like that would break all “comment” records with at least a thousand posted comments.

Then Mercopress could go home for the week and no one would even know they were gone. Come on Merco Press post that speech!!

    Stevie

You are full of shit, and have no clue about history, so like Nostrils you make it up...not surprising as you confess you get your truth from you-tube...LOL

Britain declared war on Germany when Germany invaded Poland. LIE 1 from Stevie.
Britain won the Battle of Britain in 1940, our islands were secured. lie 2 from Stevie.
Britain continued fighting to irradicate fascism from all of Western Europe. lie 3 from Stevie.

See Stevie, whilst you we shitting yourself hiding under the bed, watching things like Auschwitz and Belsen happen, we were fighting it. It meant bombs went of in London..yes, the Blitz was our fault..we upset the Nazis...

When the genocide was happening in Bosnia..Uruguay/Argentina hid again. Strangely we helped the Muslims that time...odd as according to you, we hate them. Yes, I expect we upset some of Milosovics followers.

When Saddam invaded Kuwait, we helped yet more Muslims, by throwing him out. Where was Uruguay/Argentina...you got it, shitting themselves hiding under the bed.

The atrocities are all in your mind Stevie, because you are as thick as Nostril.

Never mind, continue with your factually incorrect historical bullshit, that's what comes of learning the truth off you-tube. Have you seen the one of Polar Bears on Mars...that's true too....fuckwit,

Intelligent people can discern the limits to freedom of speech.

But for someone who is so ashamed of their nationality and where they live, it isn't surprising that you have difficulty with this concept.

For instance you are free to say whatever you want but must live with the consequences. Try it! Next time you are on a flight, stand up and tell everyone you have a bomb. Then live with the consequences.

There are degrees of expressing opinions.
I could be anti-muslim and say so HOWEVER if I tried to incite violence against them, then rightly I should be prosecuted. Do you have the same rules in your world or does your Disneyland allow you to propagate hate without consequences. Your pal trolley would be a good candidate for this.

Be specific if you have a point to make. Likewise “define you lot”
Any incitement to violence is a criminal offence in the UK.
As far as we are concerned, YES we do draw the line concerning freedom of speech in our country. What's it to you if you don't live here ?

#82 ”But CFK certainly enjoyed herself rocking out to the music. (She really cannot dance)”

I've seen a few videos of her dancing, and sure enough she's not got the most technical style, but I think she looks sweet and certainly looks like she's enjoying it, which is the main thing =)

“Did anyone see the pictures of Not-So-Fat Max? He seems to be slimming down. Good for his health”

Credit where its due, kudos for that Elaine =) Keep it up!

#84 As I remembered from other rallies, sweet and cute =)

#88 “She has that whiny, weary tone that she deliberately uses to emphasize 'the struggle but unbroken spirit of the defiant leader heading the revolution'

Then she has the 'just call me Crissy' stage manner where she uses pub language and talks about her dogs”

Every good orator (of which there are few political ones left in the language of Shakespeare) is able to modulate their voice and style of speech. Galloway is excellent at it, I don't know Arabic but have heard Nasser was particularly good at mixing high and low forms of speech, and what you've just said is that Cristina is also good at it, which she definitely is =) As for her “call me Crissy”, “pub language” voice, well I'd definitely call her Crissy if she liked (though I like Cristinita!), and in the best Scottish working class traditions, the first round of beers would be on me =)

#93 “OK lets be honest here Cristina Kirchner is nothing but a ruff old bird just look at her no taste no class nothing,Argentines should send her to The UK so she can take some lessons from The Dutchess Of Cambridge”

Hillarious, I'm confident Cristinita has literally nothing to learn from the insipid inexperienced “Dutchess” (sic)

#127 “Andy, she was wearing a nice little black number. Not adverse to a stroll around the dance floor with a lady dressed like that, late at night with a few under my belt of course. Double bag job!”

Reality check, living up to your name =)
