By Albert Canil (*) - As Wrong As Rain - Yesterday saw Argentines fearful of a sequel to the tragic flood that took more than 54 lives in early April. For once weathermen would have chosen to be wrong but night overtook day and the heavens opened: in some neighbourhoods the rain gauges mercilessly read more than 52 mm of rainfall between 11:30 and 2 pm. Toby, Argentinians are very dirty dirty people. I am shocked how gross the cities are every time I have to visit, paper, graffiti, bags, dog poop all over the major streets of BA. It is shameful.
    I have said before I would be very concerned about water borne illness with all of these floods.
    It is a nasty place and that run off water must be filled with all kinds of viruses, sewage, chemicals etc etc.

    @2 TTT/?????
    Toby you are becoming more pathetic with every one one of your posts!

    The article is about the current problems in BA - yet you try your usual tactic of misdirection - so frightened to discuss anything relevant to the article - nothing to do with the truth - you hide behind so many names and sock puppets - just are just a pathetic troll.

    BA is the Venecia of latin america............they have to make sub channels under streets, have increased the city and now they arent enough.
    Is the man of the article living here???
    He says sth like argentines are throwing papers on streets??? sorry but Ive been in BA and in my own city, and there are baskets in all corners where people can throw papers as well as special paths where people can circulate with carrying wheels.
    Always bad news MP, watch how brits put in jail suspected (according to them) afghan people not in process or judged for almost years, in all news today of every good press. And I want to know who is going to make business selling arms in Syria now, lets see which countries are after that.

    @6 Malen

    At least Toby's rather poor attempt at deflection related to smell and pollution somewhere else. Yours has no bearing on anything. Why not simply say that people in BA do not drop litter if you believe that to be true. However, if you know that it is true then how does raising Afghanistan detentions alter that fact?

    Since when was Afghanistan in the South Atlantic or has Argentina claimed sovereignty based on the fact that it begins with the same letter?

    The problem is not so much the odd candy wrapper or plastic bag that people throw in the streets, it' s the thousands of cartoneros who open all the garbage bags at night looking for paper to recycle

    Also just as in any older city the infrastructure is in very bad shape but there are no funds to undertake major renovations.......all the money seems to be in the 'bovedas' of the corrupt politicians!!!

    Try the Russian Federation or don't you read the news ?

    I thought MercoPress was mainly about news in South America.

    Snr Canil is clearly a wit. That, by the way, is a complete wit. Unlike most argies. Who are a lesser breed. Half-wits. At best.
    Could it be, @2, that lots of argies go there because they hope for a better class of garbage? Note the affinity. Argie. Garbage. Argies in the garbage. Argies are garbage. What's the difference between argies and garbage? Not much.
    @6 Nailing up bins doesn't mean the animals use them! Try the “news” from 31 years ago. See what your conscripts thought was a good place to crap. Now you can have some!

    I hate to be one to agree with tobi, but truth is truth. I am NYC been and raised, family still lives there and I made my exodus years ago. NYC is a filthy city, outside of the tourist areas. You can't change that reality. Some areas like Brooklyn is making a rebirth, but for the most part is sticks. Anyone that says it is not has not been to a Yankee/Sox game in the Bronx, drove across the GWB, took the BQE or Interborough. NYC is a great place to visit........I moved from there for a reason.
