Argentine President Cristina Fernández administration agreed with oil-producing provinces and unions from the sector to strictly control the levels of exploration, production, the amount of equipment in use and the total number of jobs in each of the oil fields across the country, with the goal of reaching hydrocarbon self-sufficiency within four years. Ahh Socialism
Where everyone gets poorer except for the people in charge
This from the CEO of YPF only a few weeks ago, March 18th 2013:
Jun 01st, 2013 - 06:04 pm - Link - Report abuse 0“We can think of recovering self-sufficiency in oil and gas in 5 to 6 years”, said Galuccio who pointed out that “much depends on planning, an investment plan and putting all our energy to substitute all we are purchasing now with local energy which will be far cheaper”.
Mmmm. I wonder who to believe:
1) a lying Kirchnerite such as ”Federal Planning minister De Vido who INSISTS on achieving oil self-sufficiency in FOUR years, OR
2) the CEO of YPF who knows the problems, knows nobody form abroad will ever cough-up the money despite the 'agreements', knows there is NO modern oil hardware to be had in The Dark Country AND has just about had enough of TMBOA.
Ha, ha, ha.
@2 Point!
Jun 02nd, 2013 - 04:53 am - Link - Report abuse 0@2 Aren't there other problems? Like the La Plata refinery. Don't suppose that'll be producing much for a couple of years. And wasn't there a report that argieland's gas imports have increased by 74%? Hardly seems possible to achieve self-sufficiency if you keep moving the goal. And probably no help to be had from Venezuela either. Not when Maduro has promised Pepe a constant supply of oil but has had to start importing gasoline.
Jun 02nd, 2013 - 11:17 am - Link - Report abuse 0Does this include the oil from the Sealion discovery? hahahahahaha

Timmidman isn't keen on the EU raising import duties on biofuel-so why import and export fuel?
Don't export it if you want to be self-sufficient.
”hydrocarbon sovereignty law,”
What happens if they don't get hydrocarbon sovereignty? Another freebee trip for Timmidman to bother the UN ?
PSSSST Julio, you wanna buy some oil, THE FALKLANDS will give you a great deal but you will have to wait until 2017 for your first shipment. TOODLEPIP
Jun 02nd, 2013 - 11:16 pm - Link - Report abuse 0The other way to achieve self-sufficiency is to decrease demand - for example with a recession or by discouraging foreign investment.

Apart from Galuccio saying 5 - 6 years to get self sufficiency, he needs U$S 37 billion in investments.
As far as his 100 wells in 2013 goes, the Neuquén provincial drilling company has just completed the ONLY well on Vaca Muerta and we are almost half way through 2013!!!!!!!!!
