Here we go, stand by for an announcement that India supports the Argentine claim to the Falkland Islands. It is as predictable as rain night following day.

It reminds me of hearing a global celebrity on the radio from another country saying “your listening to Magic 104.9”. You know how radio and TV stations love to do that.

    Yup.
Be interesting to see if it makes it to the Indian Press.

Of course India will say that it supports talks, all sensible countries would say it calls for talks.

Just watch how the support for talks mystically metamorphs into solid support for their sovereignty claims.

I never got the impression that India was particularly supportive of Argentinas claims in the past, but I suppose we will find out.

Oh, they will deffinately come out with supporting the call for talks, just to be seen to be diplomatic, mind you, given our colonial past in India. They might well choose to side with the Aegentine claim

This is very important for India. The UK isn't giving India any more money. Argieland can't because it hasn't got any. Isn't it strange? India has a space programme and nuclear weapons but it still needs “aid”.

India will have to tread very carefully on any sovereignty statements due to its position regarding Jammu and Kashmir.

I don't think the words “self determination” will feature very strongly

@9 I think Argentina would be the last country to apply to for aid right now!

Oh! Timerpunk will miss the Rugger this evening Rgland vs England and conveniently misses Liberation day in the Falklands. I wonder whether Cristina will miss the game or whether she will turn up, shake the England teams hands and hand them each a letter?

Any predictions on the score? Raul, Marcos, Think + aliases, Toby what do you THINK?

The Argies have probably been feeding the England team dodgy steak and Malbec all week hoping to avoid a further humiliating defeat like last Saturdays 3 - 32. Cristina won't turn up and risk that. Her 'Malvinas' policy is already in tatters . All fur coat and no nickers!

@6 Yes, you're right of course, I suppose we can expect some more of the same that we got from the Indian guys visit in February. I wish they wouldn't encourage them, they will be all be complicit if anyone gets hurt again.

If they have any women with them in their delegation, they would be well advised not to let them go out alone. Next to cricket, gang rape is fast becoming a national sport there.

It's not funny, I am not trying to be, god knows what has suddenly gone wrong with their society?

Perhaps Argentina would like to address the commonwealth to drum up trade and support,

No matter who helps and supports them,
    This will achieve nothing,
The ICJ is the place to go and not the back door.

    Timerman [apparently]
Will go anywhere, where possible support may lay,

But the day will come when words and support are just not enough,

Sooner or later the ICJ will beckon..

The only thing these countries have in common is a dislike of the 'Britishers', as some Indians quaintly call us, and the West in general.

In the 1970s, Admiral Jorge Anaya formulated 'Plan Goa', which thought that getting Britain out of the Falklands would be as easy as getting Portugal out of Goa was for India. More fool he...

If Timmerman had any sense he would call the UK's bluff and go to the ICJ-getting selected politicians around the world to agree with Argentina's position is an easier option than to examine all the treaties and history referring to the Falkland Islands which tip the argument in the UK's favour.

But Argentina is no nearer to its imperialist ambitions than before.

And yet deep down CFK harbours the ambition to become,
What she condemns us of being,

She merely desires to replace one , with her very own style of imperialistic government,

    The difference being,
Hers will be a doctorial power..

I did not find any dislike of the British when I was on holiday there a few years back. The opthalmic unit of my local hospital in Ayr is staffed mainly by Indians and they could not be nicer and they are also highly competent.

This appears to be the official report of Timerman's visit to India. No mention of the Falklands/Malvinas matter.

    Gosh!!
They left out that bit about the “Malvinas”, wherever they are!

Could Argentina have been discussing the 'Maldives'? Those are close to India, aren't they?

    Still, no mention.

Chrissy will be cross if Timberhead goes back with not even a suggestion of approval for even 'dialogue', which can easily spun into full support of the claim for sovereignty.
