We'll have to see how this guy does. But he doesn't appear to have much experience in the field. More of a desk wallah in Whitehall. Looks like his wife is Spanish too. Given that the FCO has a history of being anti-British and usually recommends giving foreigners anything they want, I have yet to be convinced.
During WW2, a USAAF Colonel on leave in London strolled down Whitehall, looking at the historic buildings, he wanted to bag them all. He stopped a policeman asking him Tell me sir, which side is the Foreign Office on?
