“I believe in the word of friendly countries and Bolivia is one of them” said the Spanish official
    Obviously not this official......

the Spanish ambassador in Austria, who according to President Morales asked to have coffee on board the aircraft with the intention of double-checking if Snowden was effectively in the plane.
ermm........“do you mind if I just check your toilet.......I mean..... use your toilet.....not check .....of course not check”

It is already time to finish with all these kinds of similar and ... again and again ... so frequently repeated “treatments”. Some people in Europe thinks and behaves in the same way since the 16th Century. When I read things like: “... “We have to try somehow to calm things down, relax the mood, and resume relations” ... it looks like as they did not (... yet) understood (... as usual) what it really happened - Without taking in account the so unprofessional (... and I do not want to talk about the elementary rules of international diplomacy) behavior of the spanish ambassador in Austria. I really wish that people will “... open their eyes” and well understand what really happened and this affaire will change the relations Latin-America has with SOME european countries.

“ They did this because ‘I’m indigenous,”

Makes a change for a South American president to originate from a non implanted population.

@2 Oh, I agree. When is LatAm going to grow up? Let's face it, it had at least 1,800 years of examples to build on right from its inception. What did it learn? NOTHING! Listen to what Morales says. He sounds like a 15th century South Seas island chieftain determined to maintain his “dignity” in the face of capabilities and technology beyond his comprehension. Doesn't matter that his “people” are still at the dugout canoe level. But let's look at what LatAm has “achieved”. In many cases, LatAm “economies” deteriorate because they “operate” on wishes. LatAm countries have poor human rights records because they are still wedded to the ideas of the Spanish aristocracy. They still spout the sort of things the Spanish were spouting in the 15th, 16th et al centuries. History proves that places like Italy, Portugal and Spain just got left behind. The primary example is argieland. It's incompetent. It “thinks” it's superior. It thinks the world owes it a living. And more. It “thinks” that it only need say something and the world will believe and acquiese. Look at its “claim” to the Falkland Islands. Argieland LIES generally. Provably, argieland has LIED to the UN. http://www.falklandshistory.org/false-falklands-history.pdf Why does it think that quoting UN General Assembly resolutions, that are NON-BINDING, make any difference? Why does it think that quoting resolutions etc of South American organisations make any difference to Britain? Is there not sufficient intelligence in LatAm to understand that Britain has stood alone before? WE do NOT give in to threats. WE do NOT abandon our people. In 1982, argies “miscalculated”. They reckoned that the proposed withdrawal of HMS Endurance meant that Britain would just acquiese in their theft of the Falkland Islands. How wrong they were! And THAT is what YOU need to understand. There will be NO argie empire. NO argie hegemony. Try to imagine how things would be if Britain acted like Russia. It has a “shoot first” policy.

Gosh !! ... as I said it ... SOME people are not able to UNDERSTAND what is going on. And I used “YET” ... having the hope that maybe analyzing the situation, they will understand, but ... My advice to them is to start to realize that the “fat cows” era, is over ! ... Specially for the ones who belong to those kinds of funny “democracies”, having ... “queens”, “kings”, “princes”, ... and all other esoteric or whatever things of the same kind ... And ... for your information: Latin-America is growing up, and in a very incredible way ... economically, politically and socially (... in the order), despite the tares left by the “conquerors”: Corruption, incompetence and nepotism (... in the order).

@5 Oh, no. WE undeerstand. WE understand that the argie “government” has to have a “cause” with which to con the people. WE understand it's necessary to have COMPULSORY lectures to ram the message home. We've seen the video. Economically? Oh, yes. How's the argie inflation rate? How come you have a “dollar clamp”? How come you can't provide wheat for food? How come you don't pay your debts despite the many court judgements? Politically? How about the vote-buying practiced by CFK? We've seen the videos of that as well. And the activities of La Campora with their batons and head scarves? Socially? Does that mean how queers can now get “married”? Or have you got a comment about how children are being born with defects, cancers are increasing, all in areas where Monsanto chemicals are being sprayed on GM crops? What about the use of “veterinary” drugs, banned elsewhere in the world, into food animals? How are the villas miseria going? And no, we mustn't forget the “conquerors”. That would be the Spanish and the Italians. Then the “European” argies killing the indigenous people. Who next? Germans. Ever heard of DEMOCRACY? I mean, real DEMOCRACY. One of the ways it works is like this. When a country several hundred miles away wants to do its own thing and not yours, you don't make up lies about it, you don't invade it, you don't start a war over it. And when you've lost that war, you don't carry on with the same lies and wage an economic war instead.

See, how well WE understand. WE understand what you are and what you try to do. WE understand how you are belligerent toward those you perceive to be defenceless or weaker. WE understand your criminality. WE understand why you whine to anyone who will listen. WE understand your mendacity. WE spent hundreds of years dealing with, and beating, Spain. You're no different. Just as larcenous. Just as incompetent. Just as cowardly.

Hey “conqueror” ! ... We already understood and very well that you have a “terrible” complex with the “argies”. No doubt ! ... But if you revise the title of the article “Spain calls for calm over Bolivian plane incident ...” you will easily realize (... we wish it !) that you are in the wrong fora for your (... what I could say ?) ... “arguments” ?. Please, think about and if you considered it useful, come back, but with “related” arguments ... Advice: Revise your history (... especially the one of the “conquerors” one, and you will (... we hope !) realize that most of the tares you ... “understand” in your “comments”, are the tares (... “defects”) that people like you, brought to American Civilizations. And, I really considered unnecessary to describe each one of them in detail ... To finish, and for your information, using your own words: “real” democracy it does not exists !!! ... “yet” ...
