    I can see what’s coming ..

    Context:
    i. US spies on Brasil using collusion with Brasilian telecoms.
ii. US ‘disses’ a LatAm president.

    Reaction:
Brasil exhumes Operation Condor which included the (alleged) killing of Brasilian ex-presidents with US collusion, in the 1970s.
The United States provided key organizational, financial and technical assistance to the operation.
This enables LatAm nations to vent their spleen at the evils of the USA and how they played (play) ducks and drakes with governments across South America.

But its not just the US that’s in Dilma’s firing line:
Just five years ago Lula – then president – sacked the heads of Brasil’s national intelligence agency (ABIN) for having the temerity to tap the phones of Brasil’s top officials, politicians and judges
(Although it requires authorisation from a judge, phone tapping is common in Brazil, and ABIN was acting within its mandate).
Lula was quoted as saying that he was outraged that Brasilians would do such a thing as transcribing colluding conversations between the head of the Supreme Court, Gilmar Mendes, and an opposition politician, Demostenes Torres.
“I am outraged!” said Lula, whose chief of staff and the head of the Senate, had had their phones bugged by their national intelligence agency.
What Lula was really saying was: “What right has ABIN to gather evidence on Government corruptions?!”.
