hahaha, Mercosur crumbling and by the time Argentina and Brazil come begging for admission into the Pacific Alliance, even if they are accepted, they'll always be outsiders with no power and voted down at every turn.

Hmm, this story just keeps running and running.

Seems that Mercosur expected to be able to stiff it to a supposed friend, and afterwards, that friend to turn round and embrace them as if nothing happened.

Kissy, kissy, there, there! all over now, didn't hurt much did it?

Does such a thing happen in real life in Lain America?

If you play foul, don't expect being treated with silk gloves!
Paraguay had been a stumbling block for Mercosur on many fronts.
Venezuela's entry is a definite boost, and hopefully Ecuador and Bolivia will follow if Cartes decides to shun the offer to come back on board.
More likely, he will have to eat humble pie...

    As I said in a previous comment……:
“Paraguay, through their democratically elected representants, will, in the coming months, neatly & quitely reintegrate into the Ñemby Ñemuha* structure……..
As sure as AMEN in church, when the prayer's over...............
    (*Mercosur, red.)
    Ps:
Congratulations to the new democratic Cartes administration with the brand-new tax legislation that levies the Paraguayan grain exports with a 10% tax.........
A good idea to follow the Argentinean example ;-)
A Nation can only be constructed by proper and fair taxation.

Chubut, I traveled through there (and every other inch of Argentina too) a year ago. If you're in Chubut, you must be in Puerto Madryn or Rivadavia. I guess there's a small chance that you're in Esquel or Trelew too. Odds are Puerto Madryn or Rivadavia. If it's Puerto Madryn, there's hardly any jobs at all there, only marine wildlife tourism jobs, or that horrible looking processing plant or whatever that was I saw on the way out of PM. If it's Trelew or Rivadavia, kinda gotta feel bad for you, not much to do eh, and again, shit for jobs. If it's Esquel...well then it's at least pretty, but still shit for jobs. I think the only place in Argentina I'd be willing to live, would be Bariloche...but that'd only be if I couldn't find somewhere to live in USA, Canada, NZ, Aus, Europe, or Chile first.

MercoSur will turn into AlBA south.
After Paraguay Brazil will exit then Uruguay.

It will be a group of failed countries run by Marxist Dictators.
    Who cares?

Let them become the un-aligned nations, the mighty mice of SA and continue to get poorer and more dangerous every day.

If dumb people want to keep electing bad leaders it is their own fault.

It seems that Paraguay has been straight at every point. It didn't like the application to join by Chavez citing the FACT that he was “undemocratic”. Well, we all know that was TRUE. Then the impeachment of Lugo. Well, he had four years to get it right. And he didn't. His main promises were tackling corruption and encouraging land reform. The impeachment took place after 17 people had been killed in a dispute over 2,000 hectares of land taken illegally. And the land WAS taken illegally. So, corruption because a court order was obtained by an illegal “owner”. And where was the land reform? But the impeachment was totally in accord with the Paraguayan constitution. How dare mercosur interfere! But it was just an excuse to get Venezuela in. Never mind that incorporation of a new member requires the agreement of all four existing members. Now mercosur has shot itself in both feet. Since it's also being stupid, it must be assumed that it's also shot itself through the head. It was TOLD what would happen if the presidency was given to Venezuela. It went ahead and did it anyway.

Now, despite the argie “claims” of the Scandinavian, Russian “creep”, once of Chubut, latin cesspit, Paraguay looks to be abandoning the USSR (Union of Southern Socialist Racists) in favour of an honest organisation dedicated to trade and letting countries act in their own interests. Well done, Paraguay. Tell the dictators where to get off. Since it's been mentioned, be sure not to follow the “example” of argieland. Note that its most vociferous “supporters” don't live there. It's a place to go in order to die. Not in the peaceful twilight of life. Anytime. Lots of government organisations can decide that you're “surplus”. As power and food availability falls, more people will be declared “surplus”. See the words of “waste1” @3 above. There will be no freedom or democracy in your country left to the likes of argieland!

When Argentina stops being so racist and hateful against all Western nations, when it stops blaming everyone else(and supporting murderous regimes like Nazis and Iran's gov), when it stops making economic and foreign policies that are worthy of laughter (or tears if you're Arg), then maybe the comments won't be derogatory anymore....hmm, imagine that, who would have thunk it?

My country didn't support the Nazis, we fought them. My nation is a melting pot and is considered one of the most mixed countries in the world, with an African American president, so there goes your racism charge. My nation makes some poor financial decisions nowadays, but they're downright enlightened compared to those of Argentina, it's all relative now isn't it.
For you to be unable to see the obvious, you must either have a mental illness, or be a drug addict, in which case I'd suggest putting down the drugs for a couple months to allow your brain to return to some semblance of normal function. With such a lack of logic/inability to process information correctly, I'd assume you must be of Argentine descent yourself.

This seems to be ok for Paraguay, as things stand Mercosur has manny issues atm, and with Venezuela´s presidency along with Maduro´s problems at home, not much will change in the near future. A pain because Mercosur has some interesting proyects, it´s just that too much politics have been stoping it.

    Want to think again?

@12 What's it to you? Remember you're a little pipsqueak place. And tell us what insult or slight isn't justified when referring to argieland!
@14 Which nation? We note that all these people that hate “us” are still happy to accept “our” money. Does argieland have a “foreign aid” programme?
@17 Let's see. You've had TWO Conquests of the Desert. (First one not too successful?), a Dirty War (another 30,000 murders), the invasion and occupation of the FALKLAND ISLANDS (regrettably, we only killed 649. 6,490 would have been better) AND a plan to invade and seize Chilean territory. Then, you have probably killed more people by thieving their money. Not your own people. Wouldn't care too much about that. But people from around the world. Because you're basically immoral and criminal.
@19 You had 1800 years of example to guide you. And what have you done? You've picked the crimes that suited you and done them. We dare judge you because we are at least a hundred times better than you.
@22 Pity for you, waste1. Mercosur will keep “advancing” into the shite until it drowns. And I'm sure that the UK will be happy to stand on its head and jump up and down.

Looking increasingly unlikely Paraguay will re-join murcosur, as a full member anyway.

Life outside cannot be that bad, after all.

Sooner rather than later Brazil will have to somehow divorce political murcosur, from trade murcosur. If they want to get the trade deals with the rest of the world they clearly want and probably need.

@28 There are so many differences between argieland and Britain that it would take forever to list them.
For a start, we pay our debts. When will you be doing that? Next, we win. Remember? Here's some useful FACTS. In 1982, the TOTAL of British ground troops was 10,000. Strange how we managed to kill 649 argies, wound 1,657 of them AND take another 11,313 prisoner. Seems we was outnumbered. Then we started the war with 20 Harriers. Plus a further 14 in mid-May. Against more than 134 argie combat aircraft. That's nearly 4 to 1! But it seems argieland lost 71 of theirs. Yes, Britain lost 7 ships. But then, argieland lost 9. That's called WINNING! By the way, Britain doesn't abandon its troops like argieland did.
And “pipsqueak” Britain doesn't have 23.67% inflation. Nor does it have anywhere near the number of court cases it's defending or the number of judgements against it. Oh, and Britain's economy is considerably larger. Did you know that, based on ten criteria, argieland's “economic freedom” is rated at 160th. Britain is rated at 14th. See how good we are compared to you! And guess what? I frequently have mashed potato, roast potatoes, chips (french fries), croquettes and, as Pugol says, I get them produced by poor people like you. That's what poor people like you are for. Providing for your betters.

Presumably you are directing this to the British commentators, but I really was “gobsmacked”, when I had the oportunity of visiting Britain, and went to a supermarket to buy potatoes. There were potatoes for every single way of cooking them, and most seemed to be produced in the UK or Spain. Nothing like the miserable offering in our Argentine supermarkets where one can choose between “black” potatoes (unwashed) or “white” potatoes (washed)!!!!!

It is interesting that MacDonalds grew most of the potatoes used in the USA in Argentina because they were so much cheaper, but now they are growing them in Idaho once more!!!!!!!
