“However despite the diplomatic and political rift both sides admit that bilateral trade has continued and even increased.”

Paraguay doesn't have to be in Mercosur to trade with them.

There is a rumour in other Latin American countries that Maduro's hold on the Presidency of Veneuzuela is very fragile because a birth certificate has appeared that seems to report his birth in Colombia thus making him unqualified to serve as President of Venezuela.

Quite funny really. Is this congenital Uruguayan stupidity or just wishful thinking? At best, it's a pitiful sop to Paraguay. “Almagro added the access of Venezuela to the pro tempore chair could not be modified because the alphabetical order used for rotation in the presidency each six months ‘would have to be altered, and this is not done’.” But it's okay to incorporate a “country” without the agreement of all four full members. Is Almagro practising for “barefaced effrontery 101”? Do the right thing, Paraguay, tell them to get lost!

Seems that Paraguay is being bribed to remain in that old stinky block called mercosur.

Perhaps Paraguay will not want to be a president of an association whose meeting is to be held in the forensic laboratory of a mortuary to declare the Mercosur officially dead?
