Evelyn and Michelle, in their undies, hitting each other with pillows. Is that what you had in mind Sebastián ?

Falklanders should be made aware that Evelyn's old man Fernando Mathei was the instigator and co ordinator of the Chile UK secret alliance during the Falklands war. In his own words he did everything in his power so Argentina would lose the war. Evelyn is a patriot and a very tough woman, if she was the candidate it would be good for Chile and if she won, I would be ecstatic. She would be one tough president, rock solid. She'd get things done.

Yes, agreed, but Allamand was who ran in the primary, not Matthei. The relationship between the RN and UDI is already troubled, this current mess will make it only worse. IF Allamand decides to not run for president, then Matthei would be a good alternative choice. The only complaint I have against her is that she can be a bit abrasive at times.
In any case, it's hard to see a scenario where Bachelet does not win the election.
Both women pretty much despise CFK.

3@ Some more comment to add even you´r wright 100%.....

Hope she can be nominated as candidate of the Alliance for the good of Chile and its people....hundred times better than the “other” woman, of course....
She has the ability to say directly what must be said without hidding under the “political behaviour” commonly used for “Granny Porkchellet” and her hands don´t tremble when she have to face the political or economic power.

She really is a “progresive” politician that has demonstrated that she has clear principles, is not corrupted, no aligned with the economic power......

@1-2, With such a lack of imagination in that (translated?) article title, I think we have proof now that Mercopress is NOT a UK news sockuppet.

Still, I'm very disappointed. Not to worry Brits, I have a youtube link and I'm not afraid to use it:

I agree with the general sentiment expressed here.
To add my 2c: I think Matthei could take huge chunks out of Bachelet's lead IF she has a good marketing team behind her.

She is “abrasive” and “has the ability to say directly what must be said” which is great if you are already on side, but too much honesty alienates much of the public unfortunately.

We all are not focusing on the importance of RN and the UDI getting along with each other instead of stabbing each other in the back. The right needs to win several elections, and the real disaster is not losing the presidential election as much as the other offices being contested.
A serious disharmony on the right could result in serious overall losses. I can live with Bachelet winning the presidency, but not the right losing its political dominance.

    To all my peeps above......
I agree that Allamand probably should be given the candidacy in order to keep coalition unity, but........Even though he's an honourable man who firmly lives by his principles and he only lost to Longueira in the primaries by a slim margin he lacks a key ingredient to win in farandula crazy Chile. I'm talking about CHARISMA. I think Evelyn has the right stuff and with the right handling and marketing this attractive she wolf could just maybe take the prize. Our nation is in danger guys, lets hope the powers that be make the right decision.
    Saludos.

Yes THINK and Baxter, she'll be acceptable for the middle and probably won't mess up the economy that badly. Meanwhile the right needs to refocus and unite.
It would be quite interesting to see the two ladies debate each other and I think Matthei might even clearly win, but even so, Bachelet will still win the election.

    You say....:
“Our nation is in danger guys, lets hope the powers that be make the right decision.”

    I say....:
Don't worry........... Our very own “Manchurian Candidate” aus der DDR will take care of things....
    ;-)))

    @ Think.
That's what I'm worried about, Bachelet will hear the trigger word and next thing you know our schools and hospitals are full of Cuban teachers and doctors.
    Scary thought.

I still think that if Bachelet wins by a large majority , due to right wing division , she will feel she has the mandate to lurch to the left . A new Constituition would be a good starting point ! Thus abolishing sound economic rules and laws . Let us not forget that this country has already voted in , legally , a communist President .
Who , in a very short period , lead the country to economic chaos . It is the same country ,

Angela Merkel was from the former DDR as well. She's not so Marxist either.

The next few days will prove to be interesting...

16 Completely agree, if anything, she is very much the opposite of it :-) This candidate makes sense given most of Bachelet popular support comes both from her personal history as well as her past term. So the debate will have both historical, political and econmic issues there.

As Mr. Condorito kindly informed us in another thread, the Communists plan is much more sinister....
Them Cubans are invading us at the womb level!
They already started with Camila Amaranta ;-)

THINK: if she is, she's failed so far. What a tough woman... I admire her somewhat as much as M.T.

    I said...:
    “Angela is their Manchurian Candidate”....
Meaning that Angela Merkel must surely have been the Fascists ”Manchurian Candidate“ if Michelin Bachelet was to be the Communists ”Manchurian Candidate”
Both “great” women (pun intended:-) and, I’m happy to say, total failures as “Manchurian Candidates”…

You lost me with the rest of your post….
    Who’s M. T.?
    Who’s Elena?
