Influential Latin American newspapers have been extremely critical of Brazilian diplomacy in its unsuccessful attempts to ‘subdue Paraguay’, while at the same praising the landlocked country’s dignity in demanding from Mercosur respect and compliance with the rule of the law. Read full article

People are starting to realise the hypocrisy of Brazil, Argentina, Uruguay and Mercosur.

Partly because Paraguay is acting with so much dignity compared to the ineptitude of those listed above.

If we are being precise, the only legitime member of the Mercosur at the moment is Paraguay. The only member that follows and sticks to it's legal platform and rules.

Who cares what Australians, Brits, or Chileans have to say on this matter. As if their countries mattered an iota in this group.

Gosh, TTT, you really are a star Kirchnerite. No one is allowed an opinion. No one can speak out against an injustice.

CFK will be very proud of you.

P.S. If you ever visit a country with real democracy you will see you are allowed to voice opinion on pretty much everything. It is liberating.

“As if their countries mattered an iota in this group.”

Kind of like Paraguay, Uruguay and Argentina then.

What do they expect from Patriota?

Brains, intelligence, astuteness, negotiating skills? There is as much chance of that as getting the the liar Mantega to stop lying.

@4 Like you “matter”. See whether you can understand. On here, we tend to focus on the stupidity and idiocy of latam and mercosur. Occasionally applauding places like Paraguay for sticking up two fingers. This doesn't mean that latam or mercosur is “important”. Neither are more than “bit-players”. I'll bet you can't name a single thing that the rest of the world NEEDS that it can't obtain elsewhere. That should allow you to measure your “importance”. Minor. You've been allowed into certain bodies. Why was argieland allowed into G-20? Because it was thought relevant to explore what poor countries thought. Want to know the significance of argieland? The European Union doesn't really count because it's a block of 28 countries. Of the remaining 19, argieland is 19th. Insignificant.

Whether Brasil is right or wrong, one must NEVER expect Globo to acknowledge any right action made by the Rousseff government. Its chief aim is to discredit the administraton, embarrass it, bring it down, and reverse any progress made for thed people of Brasil since the advent of the Lula administration and Rousseff's succession. Of course, whatever Paraguay did within its borders, right or wrong would be judged right by Globo if its actions reflected within a relationship between Brasil and Paraguay could be embarrassing to Brasil's government. But when the media is a hando propaganda tool of the elite, what else would one expect to read.

None if this is to say whether Brasil is right or wrong, only that if it can appear wrong in Globo, then it surely must be dmonstrated BY Globo. One of these days readers will finally “get it” regarding the Globo/RBS/Folha agenda.

Whilst the Rousseff government has the idiot Patriota and the liar Mantega in it there is no need for anybody else to discredit it: these two can do it themselves simply by opening their mouths.

Paraguay will follow the road of Chile - I envy this country that got away from Havana teachers. Congratulations, Paraguay!
