The newest ship in the Brazilian navy's fleet has left the UK on a journey of more than 16.100km to Brazil. “Araguari” which sailed from Portsmouth is the third of three Amazonas class ocean patrol vessels delivered to the Brazilian navy by BAE Systems. Read full article

Aug 14th, 2013 - 06:37 am - Link - Report abuse 0And why should we believe you are Australian ? You don't sound like ANY Australian I have ever met.
So, come on and give us deatils about yourself that can be checked and proved.
Town of birth, town of residence, school, ethnic background. Until then you will be treated as an Argie troll.
@8:
Aug 14th, 2013 - 06:49 am - Link - Report abuse 0That's because the only Australians you have met are pommie bastards like you.
@7 & 9 There are a lot of Australians I don't like. Mouthy, arrogant, chip-on-shoulder types. Anglotino doesn't come across as one of those. You, on the other hand, do. Considering the etymology of the word pommy, I don't really have a problem. Although I note that you can't spell it properly. When it comes to bastard, I can prove I'm not. Can you? And why would you, whatever you are, come on here just to challenge his nationality. Did you have any relevant comment to make about the subject of the article? Or are you just trolling? The action of an argie spoiler.

He isn't Aussie and his other sock John III (Pope) isn't Chinese. And his English language skills aren't as high as he thinks.

Great looking ship. I wonder if they have depleted uranium rounds for the Rardon? They wouldn't dare would they, TMBOA would be really pissed off.

Well done BAe, and well done Brasil for buying them!
I was lucky to see this ship doing its sea trials off the Isle of Wight, she is a fast ship and takes off like a whippet and will do the Brazilian navy proud.

The relationship between the UK and Australia doesn't work that way. Many aussies are uneducated things that don't even uderstand how to wank. There are clear indications that you like to take it up the arse. Then there is the FACT that you have no valid points to make. Sorry, you're an argie cocksucker and arse receptionist. This may give you pleasure but is of no interest here. Post your (real) name, address, phone number, so that arse-shaggers can get in touch and give you a thrill. To serve the interests of Brazil. What relevance has UNASUR ?
I am sure they will keep it out of the way of Argentina in case it catches the dreaded yellow peril and sinking disease.

Aug 14th, 2013 - 11:22 am - Link - Report abuse 0Still... a handsome vessel is it not?
The Bitter And Twisted Old Twat From Chew Butt does not understand how major capital contracts are signed and operated in the real world.
Aug 14th, 2013 - 11:38 am - Link - Report abuse 0BAE would have had a very sizeable deposit BEFORE commencing work, typically equal to the cost of the raw materials.
Cancellation costs would cover all the work to-date AND a pro-rata for the expected profit. That is how they can sell the uncompleted NEW ship to the satisfaction of the new customer and still make the original (if not more) profit.
Of course in The Dark Country (TDC) the argies would argue they shouldn’t pay a deposit which is why they do not have modern ships.
Oh dear, never mind.

He just cannot THINK of anything intelligent to say.
His main purpose is to try and rile people with his inane comments.
He knows full well what the colour of the RN ships are but he wants to use this expression to pretend they are ineffectual -almost as bad as the Argentine navy...do they have one ?
So, lets agree with him, the US Navy, French navy, Kriegsmarine Russian navy, Spanish navy and Brazilian navy ALL paint there ships based on the colour of their indigenous rodent mus musculus.
Do they have mice in Argentina or is it full of rats - the chubutian two legged variety.?
Good info and comments, Think
Aug 14th, 2013 - 01:16 pm - Link - Report abuse 0... with a bit of teasing of the fly.
Chris's comment well clarifies the cost/benefit issue.
As a 'Brasilian', I hope the Brasilians can build the following five vessels and gain the knowledge/skills transfer.
As an Englishman, I would prefer the UK to get max. benefit.
Which way to go? .. which way to go?

Aug 14th, 2013 - 01:18 pm - Link - Report abuse 0Now add the killer:
Financial analysts in London said that the settlement comes as a major relief to BAE which has been under pressure from investors. One analyst said the deal should be seen as a positive development because it reduced the company's political risk. Today's settlement is likely to be for £125-£130 million. There should be a net nil result in the working capital for the year as we understand Brazil has already paid for the ships, the analyst added.
What the article did not disclose was how much BAE was paid in all before work was started.
Clearly, whoever advanced this country a ONE BILLION loan to buy these vessels has ended up as the loser, not BAE.
The working capital for BAE in unaffected.
Sounds a bit different to your little missive when you include ALL the information AND understand what your are reading AND OF COURSE YOU UNDERSTAND BIG FINANCE.
There was NO WAY a company like BAE would be at risk over this.
I see they got FOST, excellent training for them. I've been through FOST a lot of times when I was in the RN.
Aug 14th, 2013 - 02:12 pm - Link - Report abuse 0I bet they gain a lot from this, not just in the brilliant ship (I've been on a river class) but also in the training and expertise transfer.
You can't get better training than the RN. The RN when I was in received more training requests than any other navy.
Lets hope this is how things will continue with the decent and respected SA countries.
Stink you won't be happy when the crews of the new subs are all trained in Britain as well then. FOST best training package in the world, hence the Germans, Dutch, Greeks, Spanish (well not for a while me thinks), and most of the Northern European Navies are trained there
