The Argentine government replied furiously on Sunday night to the latest chapter of journalist Jorge Lanata program on corruption in Argentina which so far had exposed top officials and protected businesspeople of the Kirchner couple administrations but on this occasion targeted President Cristina Fernandez and her non disclosed two-day visit last January to the Seychelles islands a renowned tax haven. Aug 20th, 2013 - 02:35 am - Link - Report abuse 0Then you are a fool. She, and her cohorts, have raped Argentina of everything useful, and stolen the pensions of the Argentine people.
Her reaction to this programme is not that of a professional politician, who would have kept silent, unless asked a direct question about it (not that CFK takes questions from journalists), but of a guilty amateur who believes that she can threaten people in to silence.
Her time really is coming to an end. Unfortunately for the people of Argentina it is already too late. She has destroyed your economy, probably for decades to come, and it will take a lot of work for any future administration to build trust with international communities.
I know that you'll say Argentina doesn't 'need anyone', like you usually do, Tobias, but we all know that isn't true.
Argentina has vast resources, but cannot exploit any of them because NO company can trust the Argentine government not steal everything in sight.
But never mind, Tobias, whilst you are wallowing in your poverty, the rest of the world (that you don't need) will resume normal jogging.
Why would anyone trust a foreigner more than a national? What country in history has benefited from such pusillanimous rational?
Aug 20th, 2013 - 02:42 am - Link - Report abuse 0I could have meant by my statement yes CFK is utterly corrupt, but foreigners are even worse than that. As I said, there are two ways of interpreting my statement but I realize most of my neural contributions may require several readings for noetically median individuals to comprehend.
I rather be poor and not owe anyone any favors or gratitude, than rich and being told in my face that my success is thanks to them, not myself.
Good job TP
Aug 20th, 2013 - 02:43 am - Link - Report abuse 0It's your loyalty that allows her to continue her thievery from Argentina and the Argentine people.

@2 Who is asking you to trust a foreigner? Lanata is an Argentine. By your rationale, you must therefore trust him and his expose of your leader.
Aug 20th, 2013 - 02:47 am - Link - Report abuse 0Oh sorry, I forgot, you were in deflection mode.
The question was what I thought of CFK, I responded with a very rational, very common sense reply. I will never trust a foreigner more than an argentine. Why would I?

To the subject in hand, why has the Government of Argentina not brought libel charges against Lanata? If I had someone publically saying what he is saying about me I would not rant and rave, I would sue him for libel, Is there no libel laws in your country or are all the judiciary bent or bought. I know she wants all the judiciary to come under the control of the government.

Nostrils is indicative of the naivety that permeates the Argentine electorate.
Aug 20th, 2013 - 03:42 am - Link - Report abuse 0The government engenders a sense of distrust of foreigners and other countries and international institutions which permeates downs to people who can't critically think such as Nostrils.
The government then robs the electorate blind and itself trusts foreigners, foreign countries and international institutions to hide their misbegotten gains.
But simpletons such as Nostrils are so indoctrinated by what the left hand of the government is doing that he doesn't realise that the right hand has not only robbed him blind but is also applying the lube to its fist to deal the final coup de grâce.
I always mistrust my government until it proves otherwise and I'd never trust a leader that spend 2 days in a tax haven and then lied about it.

Aug 20th, 2013 - 10:57 am - Link - Report abuse 0What he pointed out was:
1) The decree authorizing the trip was published in the Official Bulletin in the month of MARCH when the trip was in JANUARY, and specifically mentioned the dates (21 to 23 January) of the stopover in the Seychelles.
2) If the President wanted to take a short holiday in the Seychelles, that was within her rights, but she should tell the people who paid for the trip that that was what she was doing.
3) One of the people who originally spilt the beans on Lázaro Báez mentioned the Seychelles as one of the places they did a start up.
4) The available documents relating to the consultancy company in Northern Ireland shows that the director was Nestor Kirchner.
Not once did Lanata say that CFK had done anything wrong, only that the government had not been transparent over the final part of her trip!!!!!!!!!

Aug 20th, 2013 - 11:48 am - Link - Report abuse 0The problem with the whole emerging markets situation is that people misunderstood it to mean everything would change in a few years. It was originally a prediction for the world markets in 2050. It is a long road ahead for these emerging economies and there is still only one economic superpower. That won't change for some time.
There is no economic superpower, only a military one, and that will eventually fade since you can't have one without the other.

Where is the story here? This is yet another manufactured story by the Group Clarin and La Nacion. Jorge Lanata, a corrupt reporter that works for the group Clarin, is the one who broke the story. He asserted that the plane carrying Cristina, stopped in Seychelles for 2 1/2 days. He then retracted his original assertion, and confirmed that the plane stopped over for 13 hours.
Aug 20th, 2013 - 04:14 pm - Link - Report abuse 0According to IATA rules, the same crew cannot pilot the plane for more than 8 consecutive hours and needs to rest from 9 to 12 hours, depending the length of the following leg. In this case and since the following leg was 7 1/2 hours, it necessitated a 12 hours rest. There was no second crew sent by the English company that chartered the plane to Argentina, in Seychelles. A replacement crew was then sent to South Africa.
Again, where is the story? Seychelles is half way between Vietnam and the technical stop in South Africa. Maybe they stopped in South Africa to smuggle diamonds and a couple of lions

2) The same plane landed at Buenos Aires Wednesday, 23 of January 2013 at ~05:30 AM (Local Argentinean Time)….
3) That gives a grand total of 43 hours for the entire trip from Hanoi to Buenos Aires…..

Aug 20th, 2013 - 10:46 pm - Link - Report abuse 0I am curious however as to why the opposition legislators do not stand up to the CFK regime. Don't get me wrong I rather like CFK and the way she is systematically destroying Argentina, but I find it strange that there isn't an organized concentrated effort by the opposition, or have they been bought off as well?

I worked at the last federal election in a polling place and you should have seen what some people wrote on their white sheet. One took the time to put happy or sad faces in ALL the boxes - that is dedication.
I love voting. When I lived in Werribee I would go down with my brothers and we'd all get a sausage from the primary school sausage sizzle.
Supposedly Julian Assange's name is on there too.
But I will probably be a little lazy and number above the line unless I am a little bored and then I'll go all out.
Best thing is that the day will be pretty boring. No La Campora thugs telling me how to vote. No shootings. No violence. No vote rigging.
And I think we both know the outcome that will be announced about 8.30pm.

Aug 21st, 2013 - 10:42 am - Link - Report abuse 0Any serious journalist would never separate the constant mediatic operations made by lanata in his sunday decadent show, from the inminent judge by the supreme court in relation to the broadcast law.
It's not necesary to be a fanatic kirchnerist in order to realise that all what clarin and it's journalist publish is hightly arguable, especially when many of the lies published by that group, are usually refuted with different prooves, beside, it's more than obvious that there is a great push of power between c. f. k's government and that mediatic group since 2008. Anyway, i have no doubt that although many detractors of kirchnerism watch lanata's programme, they actually don't believe what that hypocrite says. People aren't stupid, they just see it because lanata tells what they want to hear.
On the other hand, mercopress and all the rest of the forists in this website should know that in the mainland we have other journalists who are also detractors of kirchnerism, but who are much more serious than a rented cretin like jorge lanata, people like maria o' donnell, martin sivak, graciela mochkovsky, are journalists who aren't pro kirchnerist, but i have a great intellectual respect for them, because beyond i don't agree on what they think about kirchnerism, they are people who do their job seriouslly, and don't recur to clarin's mediatic operations in order to criticise a government that they don't like, They deserve much more to be dated than a hypocrite like lanata, who just makes mediatic operations agains c. f. k's government, but never says a word about the corruption cases that involve the politic partners of the clarin group.
I can understand the politicians that support Kirchner, their part of the pervasive political corruption. I can understand the poor as they are tossed the meager bread crumbs of 12 pesos a day so they do not have to work and are no longer classed as poor by Indec. I can even understand the la campora trolls; they are nothing more than political mercenaries being paid thugs and enforcers of kirchnerites. But if you are not a crony that is part of Argentina's problem, or the indigent class, or even the la campora mercenaries....what are you if you support a Kirchner? Certainly not the working class, they hate her. Anyone that believes that Kirchner’s did well for Argentina is a moron, fool or an idiot....OR....a crony, indigent and a la campora mercy......but is there a difference?

Axel
While Lanata conducts an exposé of CFK and the Kirchnerites, he is NOT obligated to criticise himself and Clarin.
(Does CFK or Timerman criticise themselves at the same time they are condemning Britain - no, it's silly)
CFK's government has a huge legal, media, and propaganda apparatus to defend themselves or retaliate.
@84 I am curious however as to why the opposition legislators do not stand up to the CFK regime
Aug 21st, 2013 - 12:58 pm - Link - Report abuse 0You see, the opposition legistators did stand up to CFK, but they were too weak and divided to stop CFK. When the opposition got the mayority in congress in 2009, they could barely slow down the government and CFK ruled by decree anyway. Back then the opposition was just Radicals, Socialists and fringe Peronists with no real power.
After these elections the opposition will be mostly the same who have supported the Kirchners for a decade, and CFK will be replaced by Massa.
Keep in mind that the only thing left to democracy in Argentina is the result of the power struggle within Peronists. All the important stuff is under the control of the Peronists, and it´s the leader of the Peronists who rules over the country. It´s a one-party democracy disguised very well as a western democracy.

In this article you have more prooves about clarin's lies, the problem is that some people understand just what they want.
It's not necesary to be a fanatic kirchnerist in orde to realise that clarin is not in absolut a serious source of information.

If as you say you believe in intellectual honesty, you should aplaud Jorge Lanata and his investigation of CFK's visit to the Seychelles!!!!!!
He has reported exactly what occurred:
1) CFK visited the Seychelles.
2) The decree published in the Boletin Oficial put the date of the visit as 21/01 to 23/01.
3) The government never informed Congress of what the visit was about.
In answer to Lanata's questioning during his programme, the Casa Rosada gave three different answers to what the visit was about:
1) Technical stop.
2) Mandatory crew rest.
3) Fueling stop.
This makes one wonder if the Casa Rosada is telling the truth!!!!!!!
On top of the three versions of the reasons for the visit, the government calls Lanata a mediatic assasin and a demon which seems a little exagerated ashe only told the exact truth about what he could find out about a government action that WE ALL PAID FOR!!!!!!!!!!!

Aug 23rd, 2013 - 10:38 am - Link - Report abuse 0You both aren't being serious, are you?, the fact that i don't believe in neutrality, doesn't mean that i have to believe clarin's lies, i'm not stupid, although some of you think the contrary. Nobody is objetive, everybody deffend ideas, although some hypocrites prefer repeating that they are objetive.
You don't need to be kirchnerist activist in order to realise that clarin often publishes lies, which are usually refuted with prooves, as the government did in it's last report. It's not serious to use lanata's decadent show in order to criticise c. f. k's government, i dated other journalists who are also detractors of kirchnerism, but who are much more serious than a rented cretin like lanata.
I will always be disposed to discuss about the negative aspects of c. f. k's government, because althouh i'm a kirchnerist activist, i'm not stupid and i recognize that her government commited mistakes too, but i won't never use clarin as a source of information because i'm a serious person. If c. f. k, or any other functionary commited corruption cases, they must be judged and sentenced, however beyond what justice determines, it won't invalid the fact that kirchnerism made lot in order to improve the social situation of millions of workers, I DEFFEND IDEAS, and all what kirchnerism made on behalf of workers must continue in the future, beyond who wins the different presidential elections, i think i have been clear, haven't i?.
You continue saying published lies and refuted with proof, yet you produce nothing to support that statement?.......why?
Aug 23rd, 2013 - 12:32 pm - Link - Report abuse 0You are merely stating your personal opinion and claiming that as fact and it is not factual.

The abusive land deals down south was deplorable. She does not deserve to breath. Her expropriations....the latest of Latam Air.....right after the renovated the hanger, they just steal businesses when they think they can gain the most.

Aug 25th, 2013 - 05:13 pm - Link - Report abuse 0I have no problem in discussing with detractors of kirchnerism, but it's very difficult talk to rectionary people like you.
Anyway, when i say that clarin's lies are often refuted with prooves, you just have to read the government's report where it rejected lanata's lies.
On the other hand, in my different comments, i gave explanations about clarin's lies, the problem is that some people like you understand just what they want.
Anyway i'll tell you about some other lies published by clarin, so you can have more prooves, for example, c.f. k never said that people must be affraid of her, like clarin publsihed, she just made an ironic comment, because she refered to a judge who was involved in a corruption case. Beside, indec never said that people can eat with 6 pesos, like clarin published, it just refered to the craving of indigent people, but clarin committed a shameful omission.
On the other hand, lanata presented in his decadent show that inca just gave subsides to artists who are pro kirchnerits, which is absolutly false, because even producers linked to clarin received subsides for making films, like polka. Beside, lanata made reports which refered to soposed corruption cases, which were refuted with prooves, do you want more examples?.
Of course she never said that just like she never said pork is good for sex. Because the government refuted it.....it must be true. You are such a reactionist....over reacting I might add. As well your are extremely judgemental with opinion based ideals. Facts are black and white.....opinions are just that and there are no right or wrong in opinions........yet you react to them as such.....as in calling Elaine's assessment mediocre....which of course is merely your opinion and not a fact. You believe cfk and the government, I almost feel sorry for you when you wake up from the cool aid stuper and start suffering the hang over.
