Should work well, why are the Austrian doctors adverse to going to parts of Brasil?
    Why are we not surprised.

Actually it was a figure of speech, taken a bit too literally.

I have read nothing locally that suggests any licensed Physicians in Austria were even invited here, other than for the World cup and Olympics. I have a good physician friend who emigrated from Austria to Sampa, and he is now retired.

I'm sure we can find one or two here during Carnaval. But into the interior on a long term basis to help the poor and needy, not many. That is the reality.

Where do all these 4000 Cuban doctors come from ..... are they just sitting around waiting for some work?
How many doctors are there in Cuba, anyway?

Brazilians who live in rural areas and can't see or pay for a doctor will certainly appreciate being able to see doctors, especially doctors who only give treatment and never give bills.

Cuban doctors have worked in countries where Portuguese is spoken before, such as Angola and Mozambique.

Cuban doctors receive a full six-year medical education on the island. They pay nothing for their eduction, and thus accumulate zero financial debt. They are, however, required to go where the country which has paid for their medical education sends them, to rural areas in Cuba, or abroad.

And tens of thousands of foreign students receive a completely free medical education at the Latin American School of Medicine. Google it for more information.

    Thanks for the article.

40,000 Cuban doctors work in Venezuela. That is definitely in exchange for the cheap oil Cuba receives from Venezuela.

Someone has to do the work, because people need basic health. For this we pay taxes!

But are they any good as I cannot help remembering that their cock-up with treating “We are all Chavez” was a disaster from start to finish.

Misdiagnosed him with bowel cancer and then “fixed” the resistance of the pelvic cancer he did have by using the wrong chemotherapy (designed for bowel cancer).

Unless of course it was deliberate to get the bus driver in power? LOLs

I will stick with the Uruguayan doctors if and when I need them.
