    This is exactly what gets up the noses of the Argentines. They believe that they have the 'right' to control the South Atlantic and who passes round the southern tip of SA and they can't do it without bases in the Falkland Islands and South Georgia. It's these two stumbling blocks that get in the way of Argentina creating its goal of a South Atlantic/Antarctica empire.

    @3 I agree. Why didn't the argie navy come out to render “passing honours”? Because the only way an argie boat could “pass” a Royal Navy warship is to submerge.

    Yes, and ALL our ships still float!

    Oh dear, never mind Argentina, one day when you are grow up and kill all the Peronistas you will be able to join the rest of the World and hold you head up.

    There are only 15M of them and if you ever do start getting rid of them the number will drop to 10,000 or less overnight.

    @2
    The Argentine navy might be a force to be reckoned with (OK, almost....) when it works out that to be effective, its submarines need to spend more time underwater and it's surface ships need to spend less time underwater.

    Timmerturd when he alluded to Argentine colonial control of the Falkland Islands in 20 years, meant that in 20 years time the Argentine navy will have worked out the above operational procedures of ships and submarines.

    Come on chaps, rather harsh on the modern argie navy,

    Im pretty sure they would have loved to have a ship of honor to the royal navy,
    [if they had any ships to do so]
    Lolol.

    In ONLY 20 years? Come on Pete, they can't fulfil Menen's promise to “own” the Falklands by 2000!

    And TMBOA is still telling the deluded masses that “she intends to carry on improving things until her presidency ends”. Ha, ha, ha. Any more “improvement” and the poor sods will be starved or frozen to death.

    So the poor old navy has NO chance whatsoever. Mind you the 1700s are so old now that I imagine the crews are frightened witless to dive them.

    @8 Chris

    I'm being a bit evil trying to allude that the Argentine navy will be plotting courses AWAY from their ports in 20 years time, and using the correct levels of seawater as it might encourage them have a go.
    This will mean more wildlife reefs for the Falklands or even better, to be of true ecological use to the world, and to leave a legacy we will all appreciate, the Argentines could generously send their navy to Gibraltar and let us sink all their ships to form more wildlife reefs.

    They can then be named in honour of Herr Timmerturd.

    Cameron has not been allowed to jump thanks to parliament.

    Good. We need to show force around the other end of the med.
