To get things into context, I wonder how Spain would respond if a Royal Gibraltar Police patrol vessel sailed up to a Spanish vessel just off Algeciras and attempted to arrest both it and its occupants? And I wonder how Spain would react if a British frigate moved amongst vessels waiting to bunker in Algeciras and told them to leave the area? How about a Royal Navy patrol boat entering so-called Spanish waters and firing shots at a Spanish pleasure craft? How about an armed Royal Marine detachment landing and running through the streets of La Linea waving their weapons? The Guardia Civil have done all these things in relation to Gibraltar. There is no excuse for Spain's illegitimate and illegal actions.

Leaving aside the fact that Typhoons are multirole combat aircraft, not “fighter jets” and that “scrambled” does not mean the same as “deployed”, it's nice to know that there are now MRCAs in easy range of Gibraltar. The next Guardia Civil intruder could find a Typhoon coming in for a low-level missile attack. Head in from seaward and all the splinters “might” land on the beach. As if we care!

Spain signed and ratified the convention. The convention entered into force on the 16th November 1994

Whenever a Spaniard next tells you that Gibraltar is Spanish you can tell him that Article X of the treaty of Utrecht says otherwise. You may also wish to point out the two referendums held in Gibraltar regarding sovereignty

Now he has to deal with 27% of the working population (over 58% of young people) being unemployed AND 14.4% of children living in households with a high poverty rate TOGETHER with over a quarter of under-16 year olds at risk of malnutrition.
So Picardo isn't:
• unemployed;
• poor; or
• at risk or malnutrition.
And so this fat, stupid, arrogant, aggressive, dim, callous, insolent cry baby is in charge of something that Spain has wanted for 300 years - the Rock.
But worse it has the stability, employment, affluence, nutrition and freedom that millions of poor Spaniards can only dream of.
@17 If, as you say, “aussie sunshine” is a Spaniard I can understand his antipathy to Mr Picardo. Mr Picardo is, by profession, a barrister. He is a member of the Bar in both Gibraltar and the British Virgin Islands. He has appeared in all Gibraltar Courts, the Privy Council and the European Court of Human Rights. He graduated in Jurisprudence from Oriel College, Oxford University. One wonders whether this Spaniard has any qualifications of “any” description. ASBOs perhaps? Court orders? I wonder if he has an Australian deportation order?

A_sunshine isn't A_Voice though. A_sunshine has been around for 18 months and I think ElaineB outed him as not an Aussie back then because he couldn't even name a common weather feature here. Like not knowing what a chinook is when you claim to live in Calgary.
A_Voice can't fault that I am Australian or that I live in Melbourne because he doesn't know enough about it so his only target against my consistency is to defend I have sockpuppets and we all share the same mistakes. He can't articulate a why though. I mean I'm already amongst the most prolific posters on here. I'm never short of an opinion and never care whether it is backed up or not.
He just strolls around looking for someone to chase down and it seems to be my turn now. Supposedly I created a sockpuppet 10 months before I first commented on here. I also created another 2. Both of whom are so predictable that they only elicit a one word reply these days.
