London hosts a Chilly Day would be more accurate.

    “that Britain remains in Europe,”
Last time I checked Britain can't be anywhere but Europe....unless there's a continental shift!

It shows the level of education in Britain when the guy says “Chile to become the first fully developed nation in Latin America”.

They can't and will never be able to be the FIRST. Developed, sure, why not, but just not the first.

“It shows the level of education in Britian.....”

Oh dear, then MP carries a story about the worlds top ten Universities and guess what, poor uneducated Britian has four in the top ten!

You really are a quarterwit! calling you a halfwit inflates your actual intellectual abilities.

@4 Thing about being “fully developed” is that you don't go around trying to steal other people's homes and land. You also PAY your debts. All of them. Not just the ones you can't get away with. Then, you have to go with equity. And a willingness to play a proper role in the world. None of that “can't go there, it might be dangerous”. And you don't whinge, whine and lie all the time. And you don't renege on agreements, contracts and treaties. Certain states in latam are a good 200 years from being developed. E.g. argieland, Bolivia, Ecuador and, sad to say, Uruguay.

    I love Chile.

The Chilean wine is excellent. Far better than their moronic Argentinian neighbours. Viva Chile!!

    Conqueror,
Having traveled widely in both Bolivia and Argentina, I would argue that lumping them together for lack of development is going too far. To me they are like night and day. I felt that Argentina was highly developed and blessed with a cornucopia of riches. I could live there if only the Argies were not afflicted with, in my respectful opinion, a willful tendency to a defiant self sabotage. They inflict great hardship on themselves and on their relationships with others. This same opinion of them is regrettably, widespread throughout much of Latin America where I've traveled extensively so I'm not alone in thinking this. When I was in Chile on business what I observed was a much smaller country but one with a first rate development and a stable economic model. For my part I could never bring myself to despise Argentina and her people. I've known so many of them that are a joy to behold. What a shame.

@9 Oh well, that's your opinion. But, reading your comment carefully, it seems to me that argieland may be blessed with a cornucopia of riches, but it also seems to have an abundance of incapability, mendacity, stupidity and larceny. One rather wonders how, when argies deny their culpability for the invasion and occupation of the Falkland Islands and the subsequent war, their continued mendacity for 31 years, their economic “war” against the Falkland Islands, their alignment with the enemies of the world such as Iran, you find it so difficult to despise them. Here's a tip. Believe NOTHING any argie says. Have you not heard of “viveza criolla”? Look it up. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Viveza_criolla
You may be fortunate enough to meet Argentines. These are a separate people. They have similar values to most normal people. Co-operation, honesty, truth. Argies are nothing like this. Generically speaking, they are most akin to snakes. Although actual snakes tend to be more honest.
Of course, Bolivia is slightly different. It has more of the indigenous people that argieland has wiped out. But, as Morales has shown, its leader is more “tribal” than democratic. And autocratic as well. Down at the bar, most people seem “reasonable”. Is that a measure of how drunk they are or how drunk you are? Do tell us how illegally invading a peaceful British territory shoudn't be despised? How about waging economic war? How about lying in support of territorial aggression? Argies even lie to each other. And you expect to find the truth?

You make sense. Acting merely as a devil's advocate I'd say that while I certainly despise things that they've done and continue to do, I don't despise them. My life has not been impacted by any of it so my opinions are merely those of an outsider and a rank amateur. I defer to you even though my Spanish is quite well enough along to know the meaning of the term viveza criolla and avivado. You can put together an admirable summation of their deficiencies which are admittedly well put but nevertheless an extension of rather than a counterpoint to my use of the more concise and economical “defiant self sabotage”. Please be assured that my fundamental sympathies will not be found wanting when push comes to shove.

And what did Iraq did to you to kill 45.000 children?

You are so indignant about a war of agression fron 30 years ago, and gloss over totally one that happened just 10.

But that's your tipical Britto fried brain.

Great to see Chile continuing to do what it has been doing for the past 20 years. Getting out there, building links and friendships with nations all over the world.

    @TTP
“developed nation” is an imprecise term with several definitions.
There are currently no nations in South America that count as “developed” by any of the main criteria.
