European Commission said that it had received no “official, specific” complaint alleging tax fraud in Gibraltar, despite Spain’s repeated accusations against the Rock. Commission spokesman Olivier Bailly made the clear statement as he reminded reporters that allegations of tax evasion had not formed part of Wednesday’s fact-finding mission to the border. “No way”

    Absolutely nothing found against Gibraltar and the British.

    Now, it's the Spanish who are backing off and Argentina's Timidmann who looks like a lying monkey.

    While they are there, maybe they could look into all the fake sportswear and dodgy laser pens that are making their way into the UK from Spain, openly available from numerous Spanish retail areas...

    The EU's 'fact-finding' Commission’s position is that there is no deadline for the mission’s conclusions:
    “The timetable cannot be confirmed
    neither can we confirm the form for these conclusions.
    Once they are finished, the Commission will look at the conclusions and then decide what to do.”

    Oh, so it's really important then!

    @1 Well, it's quite true that everyone and everything resident in Gibraltar are British. Nice of you to admit.
    As Troy has effectively pointed out, the European Commission investigated Gibraltar's finance industry some little while ago and reported that it was in full compliance with all international requirements. Perfect opportunity to find any tax evasion or fraud if there was any. Nothing found. It's perfect.
    Then, on the subject of the border, it's quite clear that Spain is acting illegally. High-speed, and dangerous, manoeuvers in Gibraltar territorial waters do not comply with the requirements of “innocent passage”. Artificial reefs complying with all environmental requirements and placed in Gibraltar territorial waters are legal. The extent of Gibraltar territorial waters can be determined by reference to UNCLOS. A Convention on which Spain tried to place a reservation. That has no legal force. Spanish poaching in Gibraltar territorial waters is illegal. Disproportionate checks at the border ARE illegal. As Spain has tacitly admitted by finally cordoning off an area for vehicle inspections instead of halting the whole queue as they check vehicles as they have done for weeks.
    It seems that there are beginning to be calls for both argieland and spain to be expelled from the UN for their continued, repeated, blatant breaches of the UN Charter. About time. Neither has credibility, honesty or integrity.

    @1 I've been to Gibraltar. I've been in close proximity to your relatives. They try to steal as well.

    @1 poor José Malsuerte,

    never let your twin brother sit on the railing, he may fall down and hurt himself.

    Luckily for Rajoy, his cronies, government and party, investigating corruption was not in the agenda of fact-finding mission.
