Brazil offers Paraguay Mercosur chair, but apparently Argentina is not convinced

Brazil offered Paraguay the rotating chair of Mercosur as of next December, as part of an overall understanding to have the landlocked country return to the block, while accepting the incorporation of Venezuela as a full member of the group. Paraguay rejects Venezuela’s membership alleging it was done against the will of its Senate and in breach of national and international law and of the Mercosur charter. Read full article

Sorry Paraguay, you can't have Argentina's spot on the rotating presidency of Mercosur as all of their “insisting with Falklands” speeches have been written and pre-endorsed by Uruguay. So wait your turn!

Well Paraguay, learn some lessons here. The “internal operation” of mercosur has gone to pot. How come Brazil gets to the offer the chair? Does that mean Brazil is “the boss”? Having subverted the “internal operation” to get CFK's pal incorporated, she still wants another bite at the cherry. Mind you, once Maduro has been in “the chair”, I'd be dubious. Bird droppings! Can we see power “blocs” forming? Venezuela and argieland on one side (argiezuela) and then, on the other side, Dilma needs “a friend”. Uruguay is, of course, an irrelevance. This can be used. Paraguay could connect (sorry?) with Brazil if Dilma pays more for electrical power. But, once someone explains it to him, Pepe might become more than a shuttlecock. There doesn't seem to be any of this back-stabbing and in-fighting in the Pacific Alliance. Paraguay might be best advised to cut argieland and Brazil off (sorry again!) and sell the excess power to PA member countries. Don't worry about treaties. Argieland breaks those all the time!

    @ 5 Comedian

So, we have a problem. Brazil is a friend of all the South American countries. If a friend of ours is being attacked by a foreign power, automatically Brazil see this power as an enemy.

    Is that what you want?

@6 Brazil Nut. Possibly. Paraguay is currently bring “attacked” by some state called argieland. And another one called Brazil. Argieland forced some local quango to take some illegitimate action against Paraguay. Then Brazil joined in. So did some little nothing state. At the same time, both argieland and Brazil are committing international larceny.

What are you going to do about it?

Paraguay does not suffer any attack. Paraguay and Brazil have signed a contract in 1972 about Itaipu. He has been fulfilled. Its maturity is scheduled for 2023. This contract was signed for Brazil could build Itaipu with ours resources only (engineering, money, logistics). Brazil finished the construction of the Hydro Dam Girau. Has ongoing Santo Antonio Dam, Belo Monte and dozens of others hydros. Brazil is building, with its own resources, the power transmission lines of Paraguay. Brazil gives free access to our ports for the flow of Paraguayan products. Brazil allows Ciudad del Este remains selling contraband in our border , because that is the largest source of revenue and jobs for the Paraguay.

We believe that contracts must be performed. And you, what do you think?

That's for the protocol, don't you worry.
Paraguay is a member of Mercosur and so is Venezuela.

No fancy words or diversion tactic will change that.

Diversion, what diversion? It's in the article, read it for yourself if you think making it up, it says, “Paraguay reject.”

Reject is not a word I would use in the same sentence as solidarity.

Now if the article said, Paraguay accepts or Paraguay recognises, then that would be a whole different thing, but it does not.

This is only a matter of internal policy. It is important that there is no loss of image for the Executive Branch of Paraguay. We know that the landlords Senators of Paraguay belong to the old Hispanic hierarchy that still hold historical grievances and have their attitudes stimulated by U.S. government. Are politicians who reject the social evolution of Paraguay as a means of maintaining their power heinous. In the last election there was a better distribution of seats in Parliament. We need commitment to the interests of Mercosur, and not meaningless words that go against the interests of the nation friend.

MP do not print the articles, they monitor media outlets, pick up the stories and post them on their site. You are not telling me you did not know that?
