    I would like to the see the details of the E.U.s case,it seems unlikely that the European farmers could match Argentina,s labour costs and economies of scale on the pampas,smells of protectionism to me.

    @1 It's called “anti-dumping duty”. Doesn't really matter what the details are. If the EU can show that argieland is undercutting European producers by, say, €250 per ton and the job us done. And remember that this operates on the whole European version of the Harmonised System Tariff. I've seen “ADD” much higher than this. Labour costs and economies of scale are irrelevant. The argument would be “pay your workers more and increase your prices”. That means more profits and assistance toward eliminating poverty. Neither argieland nor Indonesia can beat this one!

    The current “temporary tax” has caused a 40% decrease in Rg bio -oil already. So any more will wipe them out.
    WTO will sanction Arg when it gets into court too. It is just a matter of time.

    Europe and the UK cutting their nose to spite the face?

    Well, must be the residual neanderthal genes!

    And so they sink deeper into the whirlpool...

    5. what a crazy fantasy world you live in.
    I think it is funny how wacky you've become.
    Do you think Repsol is pushing this?
    Destroy one of your largest and most profitable exports and throw 1000s of Rgs out of work in the process.
    I do.

    Do I think its funny? No.

    Do I think its righteous, how Argentina ALONE is fighting the combined forces of the EU, UK, China, Brzil, USA/Canada, Mexico, and etc that seek to DESTROY OUR ECONOMY? Absolutely.

    40 million people vs 2.7 billion... and we are toe to toe with you, the enemy.

    It will go down in history as one of the most incredible events, how Argentina for so long stood up against you lot.

    Oh please, get off your cross. If that is how you think history will view Argentina, David and Goliath lol. No no, try Napoleon syndrome, big ideas with nothing to back it up.

    @7

    1. Why would any of the listed countries give a shit about Argentina's economy?

    and

    2. Why would they seek to destroy it?

    @1 toxictaxitrader2
    As I understand it, they were selling refined bio diesel cheaper than Soy oil, the primary raw material for refining bio diesel.

    Unfair competition for EU refiners, not to mention putting them out of business.

    Alternatively of course, it could be just another part of the plan by the big bad world, to destroy Argentina’s economy.

    @7 The Truth PaTroll does it not occur to you that maybe the reason that Argentina appears to be fighting the whole world is because Argentina's policy's are rubbish? And because you feel that everyone is picking on you is because you appear defensive and hostile and critasizing the whole world. “Don't cry for me Argentina” PAY YOUR DEPTS!!!

    @4 Do you understand the concept behind the World Trade Organisation? It's there to create a largely “level” playing field. As I read it, Europeans are simply trying to return the playing field to “level”. In the field in which I used to work, I can recall Japan being hit with anti-dumping duties in the area of electric typewriters. What would you expect Europe to do? Okay to send in argie bio-diesel produced by near-slave labour that Europe can't match. And doesn't argieland make more money by charging export taxes? Then block goods from Europe. I think not. I really hope that argieland is about to find out about what our American cousins call “hardball”. Long overdue.
    @5 Getting desperate, sonnikins! Incidentally, latest reports indicate that the UK is heading in the direction of a boom. British businesses are looking at growth on the same level as the 3rd quarter of 2007.
    @7 Oh, how I'm looking forward to your future. Did you know that I'm in favour of slave labour? I'm really looking forward to the little dago slaves, on foot, being pursued by the overseers on their quad bikes with their whips. Flesh being stripped from bones. For the first time, argies learning how to WORK. 41 million war criminals finally being made to pay their debts. Remember that. You lot killed 255 of our troops. I reckon you owe us 7,650 years of skilled labour. May take a while yet but we will NEVER forget.
    @8 I agree with Britworker. Looking forward to seeing you mashed flat.

    It is OK, TTT, you don't need the rest of the world, right? You must be very happy that this trade will cease.

    Of course the EU is protectionist. It is an economic and political union with the member's interests as paramount. You have Mercosur; lucky you.

    Trade negotiations are a key to wealth and political stability. Argentina just does not know how to play the game because the government is a bunch of amateurs.

    “EC allegedly has plans to remove Argentina from the list of developing countries”

    Argentina gets the reward for the present government's lies that everything is progressing so well, that Argentina is no longer entitled to the status as 'developing'.

    Somewhere in this is also what some of us have warned against: make import in foreign currency all but impossible - and those who are hit by this reprociate.
