Very bitter man at not being a president, methinks.

The Queen my well be the head of state of both the UK and Saint Vincent and Grenadines, but I see no reason why the UK should not cut ties with Saint Vincent and Grenadines, while making it clear in their press that this is due to the continued reign of the rat Gonsalves and the odious PPP. If they want to throw their lot in with Venezuela then so be it, but IMO there should be consequences and these should be made clear to the population of Saint Vincent and Grenadines.

Yeah, strange one; not exactly one of the worlds great powers, but I guess both countries are in need of some new friends. St Vincent and Grenadines haven’t done to well economically, being inspired by Venezuela in recent years. A recent referendum to ditch the Queen as monarch and head of state and become a republic was convincingly lost. I recall the Johnny Deep Pirates of the Caribbean movies are made here. Not sure what help Argentina could offer the islands in the event of a hurricane since Argentina doesn’t possess a functioning navy, whereas both the US and Britain both have naval vessels in the area solely for this purpose (e.g. HMS Lancaster as we speak). However as a sovereign nation St Vincent and Grenadines can of course conduct their own foreign relations however misguided they may appear.

Aparently the people of their island neighbours: St Lucia, rather look down upon St Vincent and Grenadines. Not sure why though.

    G24?

    Or C24?

The Great Cross of the “Order of Liberator General San Martín“ doesn't seem to be that important if all you have to do is ”support Argentina's legitimate rights over the Malvinas, South Georgia, South Sandwich Islands and surrounding maritime spaces”.

I totally support Argentina's legitimate rights over the Malvinas, South Georgia, South Sandwich Islands and surrounding maritime spaces.

My Great Cross can be presented to me when I get around to visiting Argentina. Hopefully by that time Argentina may have found some actual legitimate rights.

A member of the c24 decolonisation committee being presented with a medal for supporting Argentine Colonial ambitions, could not make this up!

What about the other members? probably said, stuff the medal, where's the Wonga!

Well I would say that supporting Argentina in its claim over the Falkland Islands and being a member of the Commonwealth, are two conflicting positions. Didn't the Commonwealth recently unanimously support the Falkland Islands??
There are countries around the world that support their hosts cause wherever they are, they are usually weak and without principle. This guy does fit that mould I would say.

Bet they both discreetly checked if their watches were still there, just after that photo was taken....

Strangely Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II; also known since 1979 as Her Majesty Elizabeth the Second, by the Grace of God, Queen of Saint Vincent and the Grenadines and of Her other Realms and Territories, Head of the Commonwealth, was awarded Argentinas very highest honour of Grand Collar of the Order of the Liberator General San Martin in 1960 by the then Argentine President Arturo Frondizi. PM Gonsalves award of the Great Cross of the same order is one rank lower.

Maybe it's a ploy for Argentina to claim the Grenadines as their territory as they seem to have a penchant for other people's islands.

For those Royal watchers, Her Majesty has visited St Vincent and the Grenadines twice: in February 1966 and in October 1985. She has never visited Argentina.

Prince Philip however has, in April 1962, at the invitation of President Frondizi. Whilst on his visit he received the freedom of the city of Buenos Aires from the Mayor. He also laid the foundation stone for a new head office building for the Bank of London and South America in the San Nicolás district of Buenos Aires. The building is now used by the Banco Hipotecario.

The Duke was also in Buenos Aires in Argentina chairing the WWF (World Wide Fund for Nature) Annual Conference in 1992 at the same time as a devastating fire severely damaged the north-east corner of Windsor Castle.

    Interesting lives these royals live.

    .............
“.. and I'm pleased to award you the Order of Liberator General San Martín”

“Thank you very much, Foreign Minister. What is it awarded for?”

“Oh, don't concern yourself with details; you'll find it in the press release.”

“We are very grateful to all of Argentina’s technical cooperation in different fields and of the pledged aid in the event of a natural disaster”,”

    'We are very grateful for the promise of something that probably won't happen'-though full marks to Argentina, if there is a disaster and they actually do assist (with the Liberturd?) Perhaps they are planning on having ships that actually work? Though regarding most promises, pledges, treaties the Argentines renege on, my message to PM ' GoneSouths' is ;

    Sucker! You've been had!

But the people of Argentina can't really hold the opinion of the rat Gonsalves in any great regard, as we have been constantly told by many malvinistas (or at least many mercopress accounts with malvinista leanings) that such countries are really ran by Governors on behalf of the Queen!!!!!!!!!!!!

It's almost as if there was no consistency or logic to the malvinista argument...

    What can we say?
    Treason everywhere,

The Saint Vincent and Grenadines PM
They probably support Spain over Gibraltar,
Stabbing us in the back is nothing new nowadays,
We have a government without a backbone
    So what do you expect,
    Still,

    We may forgive,
    But we will never forget,
What goes around will come around.

He is in America and should think first as an american, as every region needs to enforth itself, because there is much more to share (in culture, trade, interests, climate, everything) regionally than with an european country with domination intentions.

Yeah yeah Malen. But not everyone is as narrow minded and parochial as you.

    Malen #18

Ok, Malen, (glad somebody's picked up on my pedantry),
but which type of American should he be emulating ... an Argentinian, a Cuban, a Canadian, or (heaven forfend!) a US American?
I guess, because of his country's location, he should be emulating his closest American neighbour - Venezuela!

Yes I agree with Malen...The Prime Minister is in The Americas backyard and that is where the bacon is...........

No, sunshine, that's where the bananas are ...
and man does not live by bananas alone.

I see that 52% of the islands' population voted for British bacon (admittedly, 48% voted for bananas - I guess they just don't know which side their bread is buttered on).

    @17
If he actually gets any aid or money out of Argentina I will admit that he has done what very few countries can achieve.

Perhaps he will send troops to support Argentina's desire to colonise the Falklands?
