In a poorly attended Ibero-American summit held during two days in Panama, the heads of state and government from the Americas, plus Spain and Portugal, decided that instead of holding annual meetings they would get together every other year, starting after the 2014 summit in Veracruz, Mexico. Another Latin American talking shop falls by the wayside.

Though at least some important and constructive work was accomplished with Nieto and Martinelli advancing Panama's forthcoming inclusion into an actual working and functional, not to mention useful, organisation.

Even better, Costa Rican President, Laura Chinchilla (who did attend), said ”I’m optimistic, that in a few months Costa Rica may be the fifth member” of the Pacific Alliance.

Perhaps it is lucky that no current members of Mercosur were there (nor supporters) - no Dilma, no Maduro, no Kirchner, no Morales, no Mujica and no Correa.

The effectiveness of development amongst the nations of the Ibero-American caucus is inversely related to the frequency of their meetings.
The logical action, therefore, is to ...

    “The right to drinking water”

    Ha ha

Spain is more marginelised in SA tan UK I guess, that cannot dock a boat in SA ports.

Lets face it SA had lost any interest in Europe since long time ago as result of our arrogant and useless politicians in EU. A bunch of good for nothing trying to please USAmex in exhcnge for nothing like Britanistan former US’s preferred lapdog.

“but Spain also is an opportunity for Latin America” to gain access to European markets, he said.”

    Wha’? oh! wow f@ck?

Why countries from SA especially the big ones would need Spain to deal with EU? Are these Spanish retarded or they don’t have “the right to drink water” anymore?

    Hi hi hi hi hi

This is a bit of an incoherent ramble -especially the you tube video

.Spain is more marginelised in SA tan UK I guess, that cannot dock a boat in SA ports.

Who cannot dock a ship in South American ports ? Spain or the UK ?

@4 From here, in the recovering UK, let me ask you a few simple questions. I do promise that, to cater for your intelligence level, the questions are only simple.

What would make you think that the UK gives a damn about Spain?

What makes you think that Europe is interested in anything from latam? We “might” buy if the price is right. What do you reckon on 10 million tonnes of soy (for biodiesel) for a dollar?

Can you explain how UK vessels dock in Montevideo and Punta Arenas?

And, on a personal note, whose welfare benefits are you sponging off at the moment?

It's great to know that we have the natural resources that countries like UK needs to survive.

@4 True, and even the UK has lost its interest in the EU, but Van Rompuy warns http://uk.reuters.com/article/2013/09/18/uk-britain-europe-rompuy-idUKBRE98H0ZI20130918

And how are you planning to resolve your problems with the Spanish and the Argies without at least understanding their language?

I would be taking Spanish lessons ASAP boys if I would be you...

    What problems?

UK has no need to talk about any “problems” with Spain and Argentina.

Argentina and Spain however do have problems. They'd better brush up on their English.

    @13:
The only people who have a problem are the argentinians, - Don't you realize that?

Why do you feel it nescesary to come on to an English speaking web site anyway?

Why not stick to yous spanish speaking malvinas websites?

You are the one(s) who need to learn English if you wish to post on this website.

    Try to understand that???

Why should we need to learn a third world language ?
Argentinians NEED to speak English to converse with the important countries in the world.

The way to resolve our “problems” is just to ignore them. They are of no great importance.

    @Clyde15

“Argentinians NEED to speak English to converse with the important countries in the world.”

Do you mean like poor, worthless Scotland?

Why anyone will bother to talk with you? Are you crazy?

You must learn Spanish, because that will help you to find a job in Tijuna and to avoid to end up living in a container shitty house in Ukistan if you are lucky to afford one of this.

Wow seem things in Scotplank are even worse...

Ineos says petrochemical plant will close

“The petrochemical plant at the giant Grangemouth complex in central Scotland is to close with the loss of about 800 jobs, owner Ineos has announced.”

“Scotland's first minister said the closure “matches our worst fears”.

“One member of staff claimed that Grangemouth Petrochemicals chairman Calum Maclean had been “smiling” when he made the announcement.

Why do you think he was smiling????

“He went on: “There are folk in there have a husband and wife work here. That's it. Folk will be lucky if they have a house at Christmas.””

    Sad, really sad isn’t it?

    You're a funny one aren't you Dany?

And when I say funny I mean odd in case you don't have a sense of humour.

Wait! You're not funny and are very serious about everything.

You're not a German by any chance are you Dany?

Your gloating may be somewhat premature. !

However, to deal with the other load of crap you posted.

Your desire for Spanish to be made mandatory has not a hope of coming to pass.
If we talk about S.A. Portuguese may be of value because they are the only potential power house on the continent. All the Spanish the rest of us need can be found in a phrase book.
Is there a rush to learn Spanish in China or India or Russia or Africa ?
I think not. Like it or not English is the preferred international language of science and commerce...live with it !
Who forced you to learn English and why do you bother using it if it's such a moribund language ?

As for looking for a job in Tijuna, I tried looking for this place. I have to report that like the Malvinas, it does not exist.

Do you mean like poor, worthless Scotland?

Well, at least we can still look down on Argentina and bums like you and deride some satisfaction.

“and to avoid to end up living in a container shitty house”
Why would I wish to exchange my pleasant bungalow and garden for what would pass as a desirable, luxury home in your native land.

So how would speaking Spanish instead of English make Scotland more wealthy?

As I said Dany, your gloating was premature. The Grangemouth plant is NOT closing. See BBC News at Noon today.
I am sure that this will be a bitter disappointment to you but as an Argentinian it appears to be your lot in life. So, keep your chin up and try not to cry.
Back to the Spanish language obsession you have. Would I not be better learning Catalan ? I have bought about £2,500 worth of books from Lynx publications in Barcelona and their invoices are always in Catalan. On occasions I have had to phone them ,they answer in Catalan and then switch to impeccable English to answer my query.
I have met them at the UK Bird Fair in Rutland and they consider themselves to be Catalonian, not Spanish.

Keep up your 100% track record of getting everything wrong.
