Disclaimer & comment rulesYes, there are a few of us in Uruguay wanting to know about the deep water port and why is the old commie now sucking up to Dilma for the money instead of the Chin who have had the plans for some time now.

Brazil has a duty to help Uruguay whenever possible and necessary. Uruguay has always been a faithful partner, responsible and friendly Brazil.
Oct 22nd, 2013 - 08:40 pm - Link - Report abuse 0Only three questions:
1) How much will the port?
2) Under what conditions will the money borrowed?
3) This is part of the fight asymmetries of Mercosur?

Sometimes you are asked to give up or compromise too much of yourself and, in this case, I am happier that Brasil should be involved in the future of your adopted country.
I have a similar problem with the UK.
England have had to accept Chinese maxi-investment in the contracted replacement of the nuclear power station in Somerset, England.
It will be built by France (EDF) because the expertise has been lost in the UK during the 13 years of Labour profligacy/bancrupcy.
With the additional 2007 financial collapse, there is nothing in the pot to pay up front for a new generation of nuclear power plants.
I am not happy with the Chinese deal, but much of Britain's money fled East, so we have to call it in from where it ended up.
Britain may be paying China in many ways in the future but, like Uruguay, they will not be alone.
