'Malvinas: Timerman and the operative seduction to gain support of the Caribbean - For over a year, Argentina welcomes foreign ministers and prime ministers of the region and offers cooperation in social, health, emergency and risk management. Interesting article, which enumerates the various inducements which Argentina offers to Caribbean countries in return for their support at the C24.
In typical fashion, it then concludes by complaining that UK aid in the area is conditional on support for UK sovereignity over the Falklands.
This is, of course, entirely true, but it's a good illustration of Argentine hypocrisy and the quaint assumption that UK policy makers are as obsessed with the Falklands as Argentina is.
@3 If the Carribean countries believe that Argentina can deliver better aid than the UK they are in for a big surprise.
Generally in South America, as soon as Argentina get the support from say Chile, for the Malvinas myth the next thing they do is promise to assist Bolivia in getting territory from Chile.
