An international military exercise, organized by the Brazilian Air Force (FAB) and considered the largest in South America, began Monday at the country's two northeastern air bases, with the participation of air forces from Canada, Chile, Colombia, Ecuador, United States, Uruguay and Venezuela. Argentina dropped out at last moment. Read full article

Nov 05th, 2013 - 08:47 am - Link - Report abuse 0They suddenly remembered that their aircraft are deathtraps, and would look ridiculous compared to most other nations.
Plus, the also remembered that they don't have any US dollars to buy the aviation fuel, and Brazil wasn't going to buy it for them.
Argentina...... lol!
Nov 05th, 2013 - 11:31 am - Link - Report abuse 0The truth is that the Brazilians didnt think 5 Tiger Moths and a DH Rapide would add anything to the party...
Heck we have those flying over my village all the time in the summer. The joy of living near the IWM Duxford. I've even flown in both types too.
Nov 05th, 2013 - 12:59 pm - Link - Report abuse 0Apparently Argentina were supposed to be sending 6 A4's and a KC-130H but are blaming it on not getting the authorisation from parliament on time...everyone believes that right...?...
Nov 05th, 2013 - 01:16 pm - Link - Report abuse 0Non-Argentines are such despicable, violent, murderous people. All they think about the entire day and night, 365, is military weapons and how to destroy others.

'South America's major military air exercise takes off in the north of Brazil
Nov 05th, 2013 - 03:50 pm - Link - Report abuse 0... Argentina dropped out at last moment.'
It probably dropped vertically ;-)
The country has a history of dropping things vertically from a great hight; remember, TTT#5?
I remember that earlier exercises were held under the UNASUR banner - why the change?
Geoff, you got that wrong, they don't drop vertically, they now roll over like that destroyer...

Nov 05th, 2013 - 06:01 pm - Link - Report abuse 0Perhaps you should reflect more on the 30,000 civilians killed and disappeared by our own military; flying nuns; kidnapped babies; the 700 Argentinean service men killed and abandoned in '82; and the 60 air force planes scattered on the Atlantic seabed ... and then think again about sordid human beings.
When I was foolish like you, I used to be proud of the fact that we were one of the first countries in the world to build fighter planes. There is no glory in our sordid history.
This is hardly a collection of “state of the art combat aircraft”, seems more aimed at controlling territory on the ground rather than airspace.
Nov 05th, 2013 - 07:11 pm - Link - Report abuse 0TTT : Instead of constantly reflecting on the past , Argentines should look forward, to say 10 days' time when there is another coup and it happens all over again .
Nov 05th, 2013 - 07:19 pm - Link - Report abuse 0Anyway you are being very hard on your armed forces , 30,000 people didn't disappear , the figure was closer to 9,000 and many were hard core ERP and Montos , not civilians and they were killed in battle , or shortly after .
That's not counting the 1000 or so the ERP and Montos killed
Perhaps CFK was worried that argentine military hardware would be confiscated, to pay argentine debts.
Nov 05th, 2013 - 07:50 pm - Link - Report abuse 0Still,
Perhaps we will never know ??
.lol
I do not think that is was a confiscation concern. We know why the Navy could not partake, their ships could not be righted in their births, the Air Force has no air worthy fighters and the wind up rubber band aircraft are a bit dated. That only left the the 500 Army troops. But if their went, who would mind the fort? Besides.......Brazil was too far to jog too and they do not have enough flint for their assault rifles and extra lead balls to go around.

Nov 06th, 2013 - 01:22 pm - Link - Report abuse 0Oh look, Tobias is humiliating himself.
Just who were the military Junta in Argentina, Tobias? They were Argentinians, weren't they?
Why won't Argentina's military go to Brazil to take part in this exercise? That's right. The Argentine government has starved them of money and equipment, and they can't afford to go.
And when you come back and say, 'The Junta was supported and funded by the USA.'
My reply will be: 'But it was still Argentine's committing those murders. It wasn't the USA.'
It was Argentine's who abandoned over 300 men to die in the cold South Atlantic waters, whilst they ran like cowards DESPITE being reassured by the British that they wouldn't be fired upon.
It was Argentina that illegally invaded the Falkland Islands that COST the lives of over 1000 people. And it was the Argentine people who celebrated on mass when news of the invasion by this murderous Junta was made public.
And it is still Argentina that is the ONLY country in the world that CELEBRATES the beginning of a war.
But keep on with your self-delusion. It really is ALL that you have.
@12 Captain Poppy
LOL! Do you really believe that the Argentines have rifles? More likely muskets, isn't it?
LEPron that's were the shortage on flints and lead balls come into their excuse......lol. But the real reason is they have no waterproof bags for their powder. Can you imagine going to war with wet gunpowder?

Nov 07th, 2013 - 10:46 pm - Link - Report abuse 0 That's for countries with penis envy ....
How can we with our big throbbing shiny military feel envious of your little shriveled military? I think penis ridicule would be more accurate, but don't get all hung up about it.
