    And your point is?

Better than having the word Argentinean before the word colonial.

    Much to your never-ending frustration.

Well that's the joke isn't it...Marcos wants to replace an English Governor that the islanders want with an Argentine Governor that they don't....

Colonialism is forcing a system of government on a people against their will....poor Marcos he really is thick.

Falkland Island Governors are mostly good people, trying to do their best for the Islands inhabitants. Obviously there have been some exceptions. the 2 most prominent EVIL Governors have been

Vernet - Military and Civil Commander of Puerto Luis – Unelected, the only employer on the Islands, exploited and defrauded his workers by paying them in worthless paper and leading to the Riviero Revolt where his staff were murdered. Arrested for piracy by American forces but Argentine authorities failed to prosecute him.

Menéndez - Argentine Military Commander at Puerto Argentino – Unelected, commander of a military occupation that saw one tenth of the population imprisoned without charge often in unhygienic conditions, laid unmapped minefields on public land, deported children away from their families, oversaw the torture and abuse of his own soldiers and surrendered to British Forces. Prior experience – Colonel in Operativo Independencia, the opening salvo in the Argentine “Dirty War”, the operation successfully murdered 2,000 innocent Argentine civilians (triple the number of Argentine military personnel that died in the Falklands conflict).

    Famous quotes

Menéndez –“We have come to the Malvinas and we are here to stay. The Malvinas never will return to British hands”

Menéndez –“Surrender? No way, we are winning, bring the little prince and come and find us.”

Menéndez - “I cannot ask more of my troops, after what they have been through...We have not been able to hold on to the heights...We have no room, we have no means, we have no support...”.

Galtieri – “You are all cowards! Jump out of your foxholes and fight!”

Yes, I don't think Marcos quite seems the hypocrisy in this comment. He will criticise the Falklands for having a British Governor who represents the views of the British Government, but he is all for the Falklands for having an Argentine Government that represents the views of the Argentine Government. They are pretty much the same thing, however in the current case, the British Governor's powers are very limited and the people of the Falklands have an unlimited ability and power to determine the future of the Falklands.

That is the key Marcos. As a British Overseas Territory, we can control our islands, as a colony of Argentina, we won't be able to. Understand this and you will stop looking like an idiot on these forums.

@5 You have to understand that these may not be the words of Mad Marcos. Being brainwashed, incompetent and uneducated, and therefore unemployable, he makes his limited income from finding suitable words in the official script and typing them. Notice how he never discusses or debates anything. Just soundbites. Not worth responding to.

And lets not forget that we now see that AR was contemplating joining the Axis (but thankfully didn't for all would-be parties involved). Getting the Islands at the cost the stain of being the designated “Master Race” of South America and likely participation in their share of the final solution -- to ingratiate themselves to their new friends of course -- and the ruin for their country that would have followed the defeat of the Axis (unless they now secretly wish for an alternative ending to THAT war too, now -- one more example of how no price was too high to pay to goosestep over the necks of the Falklanders.) Marcos: Fascist to the end.

    @1 Mark.
    “Of course.”

Not, 'of course' as the governor does not attend every oversees function to do with the Falkland Islanders.

And 'of course' the governor will not be interfering in what the Islanders say, but supporting them, unlike the situation presented to the Islanders if they had a fascist Argentine governor who would gag the Islanders and echo the kind of bilge that Gollum is so expert at, Argentine politicians having an inferiority complex.

    Some say-

The fate and future of our Overseas Territories
Depends solely on the 2015 decision to either have a re-think to increase our military spending,
And a increase in our navy, RAF and the Army,

    As any more cuts,
And we will need more than a ruddy plaster.
The world, it seems is changing faster than the government ability to catch up,

all the islanders want, is to live in peace,
is that to much to ask.??
