It will be interesting to see whether Cuba is part of the Caribbean-Package, or whether it will be a black-hole in the package ... sort of like the Bermuda Triangle where 'things go in but nothing comes out'.

Has the Caribbean Tourism team asked the permission of the USA to include Cuba?

I don't see the point of visiting an area rife with poverty, gangsterism, crime, murder. Might as well go to argieland. And who'd go there unless they had a death wish? I wouldn't go to argieland without enough weaponry and protection for a regiment of US Marines. Tourist objective? If you go to argieland, plant landmines!

It doesn't work for me, Chris #2.

If a country feels it necessary to incarcerate, it should have the balls to do it on its own territory.
Obama promised to rectify the anomaly, but the opposition have proved too strong to date.

Time for the US to become civilised.

It was only my my (poor) attempt at humour, considering that GB is sited in Cuba. Sorry.

You really don't want to know what I think about GB.

Having lived in the Caribbean for many years I abhor the crime, ignorance and poverty by the inhabitants of most of the islands. Having also lived in Argentina, I abhor the corruption and mismanagement of the “government.” So for the moment it is Uruguay for me. Cuba will have a long way to go go before it becomes a full fledged tourist destination or Expat home. Having just returned from there, the crime is frightening and the infrastructure will need billions of Euros to bring it up to world standards.

We just lervv the sun, sand and sea, the people and the lesser level of 'control' ... I was going to say 'the lesser level of (state) surveillance' but that seems to have invaded Brasil also!
The downsides are there, of course, but I've been lucky so far and the bullets have not had my name on them.

I don't understand British Ex-pats...you are a Euro citizen you can legally live along the Med..for Sun, sea and sand... where there are no bullets with your name on...
You could rent a decent 2 bed apartment for 500 euros a month...and pop over to blighty in an hour or two, to re-Britishify yourself...every now and then for less than a 50 quid...flight.

    ...Hopscotch....
Two hours and I'm in the Med...but only one because I'm time travelling....;-)

It's a dour, dour time to be in the W Highlands,

and, yes, we all do a bit of time-travelling ... time zones, date-line, and just generally mooching around the globe - which I still enjoy.
My presents for Christmases and the passin' of the years come as travel .. I've got everything I will ever need (distilled to the basic necessities).
