The registry of new cars in Argentina soared 13.5% last year establishing a record of 955.203 vehicles, compared to 2012, and also above the 860.000 units of 2011, which was the standing record, according to the Argentine association of automobile dealers, ACARA. Read full article

I thought that Argentina was about to collapse...

I wonder where is Yankeecun*t (who's dad is a tranny) with all his predictions.

Surely you're not suggesting car sales proves the economy is on the up.

    This is bad news.

As the article hints, people are putting their money into new vehicles because they have nowhere else to put their money to protect it from near-on 30% inflation.

High inflation promotes consumption. And worse, it promotes the pulling forward of consumption to protect purchasing power. All of this consumption is to the detriment of savings.

Argentineans are literally spending their future because the government gives them no other choice.

Another way to look at it from a country economic point of view is Toyota, Mercedes Benz, Honda, Audi, Nissan, Hyundai, are all foreign companies. Everything to do with these vehicles is money leaving the country not coming in. All the spare parts come from abroad. Give that a bit of thought Warteiner.

Just to recap: Money leaving Argentina!!

@1 People are buying cars as a hedge against inflation. Argentina is the only country in the the world where an asset which normally depreciates on purchase (the car) actually apreciates. Having got back from seeing the family only a couple of days ago, a number of people were talking about buying cars as an investment.

And why it was not record car sales during all the inflationary process of Argentina?

You lot don't live here, you wish you so, some of you even pretend to but the reallity is that we have record in consumption, people going on hollidays with nearly 100% of the facilities booked. Record in external tourism. Etc.

I feel very sorry for your incest brains (since you lot are related, because you like to sha*g your sisters and doughters) who cannot assimilate that Argentina keeps growing and it will not stop doing so.

For how many years have you predicted Argentina's collapse?

For how many years has Argentina grow non stop?

Now go to sh*g your sheeps, that is the best that you can do.

Oh dear, someone touched a raw nerve there I think. Only the uneducated turn to name calling when things don't go their way. If I were you I would stock up on sugar and toilet paper. Why do you think the government put the fuel prices up as more and more cars are on the road. More revenue.

@6 “And why it was not record car sales during all the inflationary process of Argentina”

because as inflation gets worse the need to hedge gets worse. Of course you have lots of consumption as if you leave pesos in the bank they are worth 2.9% less after one month.

    Oh, you are funny!

    Stupid but funny.

Been reading the comics I see (you would know them as government “statistics”) while the rest of us use the DATA from actual events.

“For how many years has Argentina grow (SIC) non stop (SIC)?”

Not many, if any when you take the cost of inflation out of the equation but you would not understand that concept if you were hit around the head with TMBOA handbag.

But don’t worry, TMBOA is clearly getting ready to dump you bunch of losers and then there will be fun.

Bet you still haven’t shagged the young lady you were trying your luck with on the drunken coach party have you!

Wart I stand by my claim of Argentina's imminent economic collapse. Never more so that today.
How you make a logical jump from a small growth in cars mfg to good economy is mystifying.
One is not indicative of the other. It could be but only to someone that knows NOTHING about Argentina.

The Peso should go over 11/1 today.
Will it go over 12 next week?
    Who knows
My bet is it will be 15+ by eoy
    and hyperinflation will have begun

In 4 years a LOT has happen. The Peso has lost more than 1/2 of its value, groceries have gone up 700%, oil and gas imports have skyrocketed, gov't implement strict import controls, made U$ buying illegal, I could go on and on.

So if you don't see a collapse coming may the supreme being help your sorry soul.

Buy sugar and laundry detergent so you have something to trade.

@1, 6, 12 Ever bought a new car? Ever bought a car? Here's the way it works. Only a few people can walk into a dealership with a briefcase full of dosh and pay for the car. Politicians, bankers and drug dealers. Everyone else has to have “finance”. Who's waiting for the next 30% pay rise the country can't afford? And the inflation? And the devaluation? More fun thoughts. What happens when you don't have, or can't afford, the fuel to put in them so that they go? How many will get written off against tax? What do you keep between your ears? A bottomless pit?

#12 guzzzzzz/stevie.....change your word choice when you change your screen name. The first and simplest rule when going covert is to cover all your tracks....fool.

Stevie...the only thing growing in Argentina is the public frustration and intolerance of the incompetent and impotent leadership. Meet me at Notorious stevie and I will spring for a drink, dinner and a great jazz show......lol

Record car sales and folk taking lots of holidays isnt necessarily a good sign. Especially when its accompanied by raging inflation, devaluation and decrepit failing infrastructure. After 10 years of socialism under two Scotch incompetent PMs the buy now sod tomorrow phase together with staggering financial mismanagement, caused great pain in the UK and will undoubtably soon bite Rgland firmly on the bum. Elaine, I think we have all got the dove voice sussed, its pathetic, but its the best they have got. That bike looks a real stunner. Go for it.

For once you have got it right: down the sewer full speed towards a new corralito an corralon by people driven to copy the Germans in 1922 and early 1923 - buy now or loose a large proportion of the value of your money.

They've had so many different names for their currencies, this is the normal progression tho:
    $5 becomes a $50 becomes a $500 becomes a $5000 becomes a $50000 then they start all over and change the name,
I think next they'll be back to the Austral
maybe get creative and call it the
    Nuevo Austral or
    Peso Oro
    Or some such nonsense
    It is sad.
The peso press in Arg and Brazil is going as fast as it can. I bet we see a $500 and $1000 peso notes this year. It will be the start of a trend.
I wonder if she'll be doub enough to put Nestors ugly cross eyed mug on it.
