Prediction: More desperate stupid restrictions, more interference, and an even faster drain on the nation's reserves.

Oh, wait. That's not a prediction, it's a repetitive cycle. I guess the Kirchnerites think they can fail upward.

And so, ANSES will sell bonds in the international market and the government will do its usual dollar peso swap routine to get hold of more dollars. See link below:

@2 What's “ect, ect”? The abbreviation for “etcetera” is “etc”. Notably, the “c” comes AFTER the “t”. Not difficult.

Wouldn't it be a good idea if the UN declared argieland to be non-existent? Send in UN troops in overwhelming numbers. 500,000 would be a good start. Arresting all members of the “government”. Disarming the armed forces, police and paramilitaries. Proscribing La Campora and Quebracho and imprisoning all “members”. Imposing a “no-fly zone” and shooting down anything that tries. Search for money in any form. Seize the lot.

Ban spanish. Require all argies to learn and speak English. First step tp honesty!

Dont forget making them drive on the left hand side of the road, after all, in 82 the invasion troops tried to make the islanders drive on the right, rather strange as most roads were single, but the islanders defied the troops and good on them

“New Brighton”...You mean New New Brighton, as New Brighton is close to Birkenhead. ;)

As for Argentina, it's getting close to collapse time, and this will be far worse than 2001. This time Argentina will be defaulting upon itself. No pension, no money for federal employees, no police, no health workers, no firefighters, no Armed Forces.

It other words, they're going to have nothing.

I've never seen a country descend so quickly towards '3rd world status'. I don't say 'developing' as Argentina is heading in the opposite direction of most 'developing' countries. Devolving perhaps?

STRUCTURAL PROBLEMS VS THE WISHES OF THE CRETINS.
Although i have never expected any serious lecture from any of the cretins who often enjoy the published news about the structural problems of argentina, i must recgnize that not all people here are neather reactionary nore cretins, in fact, i could have interesting debates in a few opportunities with people who don't think like me.
This article is really too poor, because it just tells about the decline of our reserves, but the lecture is very partial.
It's necesary to say that the 75% of the decline of our reserves, is due to the government decided to pay debts with reserves, which is a mechanism that it has used since 2010, however they continued to grow. The problem is that since more than one year ago, the number of reserves hasn't increased, and it's mostly due to corn exporters have sold their harvest very slowly. In the actual politic and economic scenario there are no objetive reasons in order to use this mechanism by them, actualy what the most important corn exporters are doing is pushing the government, in order force it to make a hard devaluation, which is a decision that would benefit them only, but in detriment of the rest of the society.
I have always known about this kind of mechanism, used by powerful corporations, it's not new, the problem is that in other opportunities those cretins could get a way with it, because all the rest of the governments were too weak. The situation is very different now, because c. f. k's government is not weak. For all these reasons, i think that the government must keep a hight trade surplus, because it's one of the few mechanims that it can implement, in order to no to cede before the extortion of those cretins.
On the other hand, despite all the structural problems that our economy still has, last year we had an economic expansion which was over 5%, anyway i know it's a bad news for the cretins who often rejoice their selves with our problems.

    @13 Axel Arg

“and it's mostly due to corn exporters have sold their harvest very slowly”

Government ought to tell people when to sell their property very seldom. Government needs to do their job (maintain reserves) with mechanisms that don't violate peoples democratic rights to own property and to sell it when they want to.

Bureaucrats are paid to do a job (maintain reserves). When they don't do their job:

    1) They get fired?
    2) They have to give back the money they were paid because they didn't do what they were paid to do? OR
    3) The corn growers have to change what they are doing??????

Alex, if some bureaucracy told you, you had to sell your property now, for the good of the nation, and that was not what your plans were, you would think they are wrong to do that.

    “ because c. f. k's government is not weak”.

Then why are the reserves going down? Wouldn't a strong government have many mechanisms to counter forces that are bringing down reserves?

“the government must keep a high trade surplus, because it's one of the few mechanisms.......”

Is this mechanism able to maintain reserves? The reserves are going down.

Will this mechanism out last the corn producers' tactics?

What do you think of Alex Arg's post?

He argues the diminishing reserves is just a “structural” problem. And it was brought on not by the CFK administration but by the corn producers.

Do you agree with Axel that this is not a catastrophic problem and it will be dealt with just like other countries deal with all their little problems and move on?

Do you see corn producers as a major contributor to this problem?

    Hey Pauledron!

Argentina is running out of dollars and all you can do is post links to the worst and most socialist newspaper in the UK?

Argentina is running out of dollars. Inflation is going through the roof. People are going without electricity, and basic staples and criminal activity is increasing exponentially. Argentine infrastructure is crumbling away around you.

Argentina is about to default AGAIN! This time, however, Argentina will be defaulting upon it's own people.

The Argentine government has stolen their pensions and their futures. This default will make the one in 2001 look like a minor hiccup. This one will HURT the people greatly.

And the incumbent Argentine government? Well they'll be okay, with the millions of dollars, that belonged to the Argentine taxpayer, which they have squirrelled away in overseas off-shore bank accounts.

Argentina. The only country in the world that is retreating instead of advancing. Even developing countries are improving their own lot, but Argentina is destroying itself through mismanagement, corruption, and the acquiesce of the Argentine public itself as it stands by and applauds the government as it steals right in front of their eyes.

Argentina. Which will go down in history as a country that destroyed itself, without any need for outside interference.

Your 'South American' brothers are circling like vultures waiting for the death throes to stop, then they'll swoop in and take what they want. By then, they Argentine public will probably be cheering them on, as they come in and save you from your own greed and stupidity.

about the islands, i have a particular position.
i think they are an integral part of the argentine territory, but after 180 years there, a war, and all that shite, they have the right to be there as british territory, an independent country or whatever you want.
anyway,as you know, there is not the slightest possibility of armed conflict from argentina.
not even the kircheneristas would accept it.

    BUSHPILOT.
Your lecture is really decadent, actualy it's charasteristic of ignorant people who have no more than the tipicall too partial knowledge about the structural problems of our country, and about the behaviour of the social actors who interven in the problematics. Anyway i know that this kind of ignorant lecture is very usuall in imperialist nations, which have a pathetic and reactionary stigmatizing view, in relation to periferic nations like argentina, especially since most our countries aren't nobody's backyards anymore, like they used to be for many years.
The mechanism i described is very usuall among powerful corn exporters, especially in an economy like our's which is mostly oligopolic and foreign. Anyway, it would be interesting to analyze whether in the actual context there is so much incertitude, and whether the government is weak, in order to justify the behaviour of those people, the answer is no. C. f. k's government is not weak, beside, those corn exporters have had huge profitabilities in the last decade, and it's not only because of international prices of the commmodities, it's also thanks to the policies of the government.
On the other hand, keeping a high trade surplus, will help just to mitigate the effects of the mechanism that those cretins usually use. Since 2007, c. f. k's government has had to tolerate six intents of economic runs, made by powerful corporations, in order to force her to make a hard devaluation, however, if they couldn't get a way with it, it was mostly because the government has used reserves, beside it has kept a high trade surplus, with the purpose of stopping or mitigating the effects of those economic runs. In other politic contexts, where governments were weak, that mechanism made fell a government like raul alfonsin's in 1989, who suffered a financial coup d'etat.

no race riots in the u.s in the last 30 years?
1989: Overtown Riot (Miami, FL) In a reaction to the shooting of a black motorcyclist by a Hispanic police officer in the predominately black community of Overtown in Miami, residents rioted for two nights. The officer was later found guilty of manslaughter.
1991: Crown Heights riot (Crown Heights neighborhood, Brooklyn, New York City)
1992: Los Angeles Riots (Los Angeles, California): In a reaction to the acquittal of all four LAPD officers involved in the videotaped beating of Rodney King and the murder of Latasha Harlins; riots broke out mainly involving black youths in the black neighborhoods and shop owners in Korean neighborhoods, but overall rioting was mainly to get out the frustrations of the racial groups over the racial tensions that were building in the South Central neighborhood for years[citation needed].
1996: St. Petersburg Riots (St. Petersburg, Florida): After Officer Jim Knight stopped 18 yr. old Tyron Lewis for speeding, his car lurched forward and Knight fired his weapon, fatally wounding the black teenager. Riots broke out and lasted for about 2 days.[citation needed]
2001: Cincinnati riots (Cincinnati, Ohio): In a reaction to the acquittal of Steven Roach after the fatal shooting of an unarmed young black male, Timothy Thomas, during a foot pursuit, riots broke out over the span of a few days.
2003: Benton Harbor riots (Benton Harbor, Michigan)

#52 sussie you ficking idiot.......the Federal government does not pay unemployment.....states do. The feds only pay (and they reimburse states) when they implement special programs. Standard unemployment is paid by states. Where were you jail or the nuthouse?

    @36

With regards to the islands, I disagree that they are or ever were an integral part of Argentina, however, you acknowledgement that the people there have the right to chose, is well accepted.

The military defence of the islands is there for two reasons, firstly, it is far more effective to stop there being any chance of an invasion, than to try and recover an invaded territory. So militarily, it makes sense.

Secondly, I agree, with the defences there, there is zero chance of military conflict. Were they to be removed, and the Argentine government to believe Britain not to have the stomach to recover them...I am not sure I share your certainty.

Whilst the dishonest rhetoric comes from your government, the defences will remain. Perhaps if more of your politicians recognised the islanders rights, as you appear to, then the defences could come down.

A long way away, I fear.

#36.....what do you define as militarizing? From my military days, we defined it as a continual troop buildup. How many of the Brits have increased over the years?

Job creation is working as a Living Sign (holding a sign pointed at a store to atrack customers).
Barry Soetaro aka Barack Obama published his coment in the New Yorker stating his low approval performance is because he is blaaaaaaaaaaaack!
You see, he is excusing himself for not having braiiiiiins.
