Falklands lawmaker on political visit to New Zealand and Australia

Mike Summers Member of the Legislative Assembly of the Falkland Islands will visit New Zealand and Australia this week as part of a regional tour where he will present the Falklands as a modern, thriving democracy and address the Falkland Islanders right to self determination. There are long-standing links between the countries, and this tour hopes to build upon existing relationships. Read full article

I wonder if he will present a medal or some such to the Aussies or kiwis in recognition of their “brave” and “couragous” support for his rights to the Falklands...LOL

@3 Maybe CFK should ask (oh heck, “demand”) Australia or NZ to extradite Summers for tax evasion, fraudulent representation of their long-lost “19th province,” watching Benny Hill reruns undubbed into “standard” Spanish, or all of the above.... After all, none of her neighbors will. Maybe she'll get lucky this time.

2 - NZ sent a frigate to the North Atlantic in 82 to keep an eye on the soviets and free a RN vessel for service in the Falkland islands. Australia graciously withdrew from advanced negotiations to buy HMS Invincible. I am proud that one of the most important ships in the liberation task force was named after the capital city of Australia. Welcome Mr Summers!

I will be surprised if this visit elicits much attention from Argentina. We don't do much business with them to the best of my knowledge and the Kiwi's are famously ( or infamously, depending on your perspective ) independent. I think it may depend on how much press the visit generates.
