Former member of the Falkland Islands Legislative Assembly Dick Sawle has been appointed as Falklands Complaints Commissioner, which is a similar role to that of an Ombudsman in the UK. Sawle was appointed by Governor Nigel Haywood and his post came into effect on 15 January 2014 for a period of two years. Read full article

No I don't think so...I'm sure Sturgeon is Deputy First Minister of the Scottish Govt and a member of the Scottish Parliament and deputy leader of the SNP..not quite comparable to the leader of the complaints commission of less than half the population of the Isle of Bute...

There is no salary involved but even if there was what would that have to do with you?

    complaints commission for 3000 people...
That's right, true to form, you'd be against this 3,000 people having any rights wouldn't you.

What happened to him anyway, did he get voted out or drop out of the running?
He didn't run but if he did he would've walked back in like last time. And he's not even born here!!! What a disgrace.

What's your favourite name? Which ones do you put the most effort into? Maybe they're the ones nobody has picked yet. Maybe your really good ones trick everybody. Maybe you're the only Malvinista on the whole site.

    You Scotch faggot.

That oil is getting closer to us and CFK and her bunch of crooks have no clue about how they're going to get out of their mess. Still, what do they do? Tell everybody that the Malvinas is theirs. Argentina is the only place I know where career is predominantly a verb.

    God yawn!

    Troll swarm... duck for cover.

Still boring A_Voice is still boring – like that tiny little toy dog at the park that bolts into the thick of other dogs wrestling or fighting to show how much tougher he is. Yap Yap Yap. We all stand back and think 'Oh bless!'
Think hardly comments anymore, because let's face it, even he has trouble finding that silver lining. He is too old to have not seen the writing on the wall several times in Argentina’s past. And still too dumb to realise that Anglotino is a portmanteau of Anglolatino-so he has never gotten my name wrong. Pity a troll took Anglolatino for an extremely short lesson.
Marcos..... johnny come lately to everything. Works best in a pack. He’d be the dog standing behind the A_Voice dog down the park quivering.

As for the Falklands, well at least it takes these steps. Just across the water in Argentina, democracy is being trampled left right and centre for the glory of the cause – Motherland, Fatherland, Kirchnerism, Peronism, Latino Brotherhood, South American Solidarity…. Populism one and all. Thankfully the Shileno hermanos have matured past that stage.

With police strikes and a ranting lunatic for president that will do anything possible to hide her misdemeanours, it is hardly surprising that a Complaints Commissioner seems so quaint.

Who would appoint them? And would it be possible to find someone that wouldn't take bribes? CFK has billions to spend on that.

Oh and Joe, unless you were calling A_Voice a bundle of sticks, faggot really isn’t an insult in 2014. It is what I expect from an Argentine or Conqs.

    Marcos

That was your comeback. Sheesh. Ummm so how do I break this to you?

    I'm not stressed.
    I'm not angry.
And I fully agree with CELAC's statement regarding the Falkland Islands.

'Reiteramos nuestro más firme respaldo a los legítimos derechos de la República Argentina en la disputa de soberanía por las Islas Malvinas, Georgias del Sur y Sandwich del Sur y los espacios marítimos circundantes, así como el permanente interés en que dicha disputa se resuelva por la vía pacífica y de la negociación, conforme lo dispuesto por la Resolución 31/49 de la Asamblea General de las Naciones Unidas.'

    Translated as:
'We reiterate our very strong support for the legitimate rights of the Republic of Argentina in the sovereignty dispute over the Falkland Islands, South Georgia and South Sandwich Islands and the surrounding maritime spaces, and our lifelong interest in such dispute is resolved by the path of peaceful negotiation pursuant to the provisions of Resolution 31/49 of the General Assembly of the United Nations. '

    http://celac.cubaminrex.cu/sites/default/files/ficheros/declaracion_revedtda_270114_espanol.pdf

Sounds entirely reasonable to me. Indeed I think it is perfect. And I totally support such a declaration.

    What you will notice is:
1/ it doesn't say that Argentina has or should have sovereignty
2/ it doesn't say that the Falkland Islanders shouldn't have self determination

So we are in agreement then.

What you probably failed to realise with your woeful education is that 9 of 33 CELAC member states (27% of members) have Queen Elizabeth II as their head of state. The same head of state as the Falkland Islands.

Started to realise how worthless that statement really is yet?

I wonder if Argentina has a Complaints Commissioner or Omnudsman.

I think there is a major flaw in presidential systems when the president has the ability to emasculate the courts. Worse when the legislative pillar is beholden by party ties. The three pillars then serve the executive and not the constitution.

It's why I prefer our system. The monarch (or representative) acts as a fourth pillar. Kind of like a constitutional guardian.

So I guess no matter who you complain to in Argentina, it ends up at the president. Haha and she is the main problem.

What happened Think? How come it took you so long to log in as DoD? Did you forget the password for that account or something? Next time when I tell you to bring DoD back you'll jump right away.

Very interesting phase coming up. FIG is starting to feel more relaxed about spending some money. Watch this space for updates about relatively large amounts of expenditure on capital items. The list is being drawn up and so far has items on it such as a new school, new power house, new roads, expanded airport, new old age care home. When everyone has put their ideas on the table the priority list will be decided upon.

If any of you have a complaint about that contact Dick. Speaking of Dick; £100/ day worked is a salary? Think are you out of your mind? Do you have any idea what Dick Sawle is worth?

I swear you would make a good Aussie. It's why I feel kinship with the Falkland Islanders. The Southern Hemisphere must do something to Brits to create Kiwis, Aussies and Kelpers.

Presumably if they could earn better money in Argentina they wouldn't be in the Falklands, and as you point out Joe, at least in the Falklands they have the chance to progress by working hard.

    @32 A_Voice,
The outback Aussie Stockmen or Ringers as they are called, used to live a very hard life.
lts a bit better now with modern amenities.
They lived a life of solitude, hard work, indifferent rations, heat dust & flies.
Most were very hard men(& the women loved them for it!)& circumstances forced them to be very resourceful.
That is why they made excellent soldiers & were involved in all the Empire's wars from the Boer war in 1899-1902 until the Malayan Emergency 1948-1960.
The point l was making, Mr Sarcastic Doubtful Scot, is that some manly men drink Rum & Coke, which you think is a sissies' drink.
l like vodka, does that make me a barrel chested Russian peasant with a flowing beard?
You really ought to get a grip of yourself & stop slotting people into categories, that you have defined.

As I've told you before, I love Australia and have spent a lot of time there over the years including about 4 months at Duntroon a long time ago on exchange. I remain in touch with some of the guys I knew there and now thanks to the more positive side to social media we remain in very regular contact.

Some of them are generals, some are national managers/ chief executives, some have their own very successful businesses, some live more modest lives and some have not done so well at all but when we're together on FB having a good old session we all become the young, skinny kids we were back then again and I think we all love that.

I am not excusing the language I used the other night but since you mentioned Think's homophobia I thought I would briefly explain that it was that I was targeting by saying what I did but I didn't stop to think about the offence it would cause others. I don't have the slightest problem with homosexuals. In fact I don't know a Falkland Islander who does and I am sure we have a typical representation of gays and lesbians in our society.

Because of Think's problem with homosexuality I knew he wouldn't like to be called one but it was a dumb thing to do.

    64 Isolde
Poor old Think likes to categorise. He likes to give the impression that he has such a good handle on everything in the Falklands and also in the Argentine Government's pseudo-attempts at taking over our country. Vodka huh? You're obviously one of the Fisheries scientists or recently redeployed from the Computer Dep't. I'm out with the girls tonight for another rum and coke so I might see you somewhere.

    I say…:
Just like the Yankee cowboys in our beloved Wyoming! (Brokeback Mountain to be more precise ;-)
The point l’m making, Isolde dahling, is that some very hard men can, under the right circumstances be a very resourceful bunch of sissies…;-)

    You say further…:
l like vodka, does that make me a barrel chested Russian peasant with a flowing beard?
    I say…:
Well….. If you keep that rate of consumption, you surely will look like one before you turn 50…….

Right, I've been up early concreting. Didn't quite beat the drizzle but I think it will survive. Time to go and buy some building supplies and a pair of jeans. Both stores I'll need to go to are managed by Saints. I might drop into the best little cake shop in town on the way home and buy some of their delicious treats; the coconut fingers are a particular favourite. Oh, did I mention that the cake shop is owned and managed by a Saint?

Then Mrs Bloggs and I need to check our finances. Time to build another house but we'll need to borrow some money. Funnily enough the loans manager at the local bank is also a Saint as is the draftsman who is going to draw up our plans.

You'd think everything would be cheaper here with all of those key people only being paid £5 an hour.

I thought you claim to have been here recently Think. Perhaps that's just another one of your lies.

To sum up, what has Think actually said?

    1) He thinks an ombudsman is unnecessary and paid too much by friends in high places.

2)He thinks that people who drink Coke with Rum or Vodka are homosexuals or women.

This is really all to do with Think's opinion and personal perspective, nothing more.

I am sure Thinky has had a lot of experience (personal) with government corruption and sees it all the time. Perhaps he Thinks ALL government positions are manufactured and corrupt.

More of Thinks homophobia. It seems that many ( if they are indeed, distinct) of the Argentine Trolls resort to questioning people's sexuality when they can't think of a legitimate way to discredit them.

Think and puppets have done nothing more than show their own failings.

Did I mention that the manager of the Malvina House Hotel in Stanley is a Saint? At £5.00 an hour I wouldn't bother for all the hard work he has to put in. Still, he's been doing the job for about 10 years now I guess so he must just have no choice.

    Thank you Think

I was just making sure and needed that clarity. So what you claimed was:

“I have always had one and only one ”Nom de Plume” at Mercopress and it is 'Think' ”.

To which I do not disagree or claim otherwise.

    What I claimed earlier was:
“You once had sockpuppets and got caught.”

    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sockpuppet_(Internet)
A sockpuppet is an online identity used for purposes of deception. A false identity assumed by a member of an internet community who spoke to, or about, himself or created to praise, defend or support a person or organisation while pretending to be another person.

    And the most important distinction:
A significant difference between the use of a pseudonym (or nom de plume if your feel that is a better description) and the creation of a sockpuppet is that the sockpuppet poses as an independent third-party unaffiliated with the puppeteer.

So while Think is your nom de plume, Doveroverdover and Surfer were your sockpuppets.

You were exposed by your own hubris and ego.

What? You didn't think I would see the distinction between a nom de plume and a sockpuppet?

    Thank you Think,
l penned a scathing attack on you(& quite good if l do say so myself! lol), then lost the lot.
    Oh well, 2nd time around!
    To summarise,
l was asking you deeeeear Thinkus to please explain the reasons for Argentina's ridiculous “claims” on South Georgia.
    Bearing in mind that:-
    1) Britain claimed it at least 60 years before Argentina existed.
    2) No Argentine has ever lived there.
    3) lts over 1000kms from the Argentine mainland.
    4) lt is not on your continental shelf(which means nothing, anyway).
    5) Because we want it, is not an acceptable answer.
    6) lt is not part of you “territorial integrety”(ha ha).
    7) Because the UK is X amount of miles/kms away(changes with each malvinista)!is also not an acceptable answer.
Now try to wriggle out of that question, oh Perfideous, slippery one.
Facts, Cher Think, that would convince the ICJ.
    l expect your prompt reply.

    You are a liar Think!

That is all I needed you to do. To clearly state a lie.

You have had sockpuppets. At least two by my count. You have freely admitted so as well. You count on people having the attention span of some brain dead person from La Campora.

While many of the new posters don't realise or remember your months of talking to yourself as Doveroverdover.

    We do.

I think it would be safe to assume that your ability to lie and lack of morals are indicative of a malaise within Argentine society. Your comments and linguistic gymnastics are probably a source of pride and joy to you and I would never think of taking away the few that you have left.

I don't care about your nationality nor your location, nor how many posters you need to make a point and not even how many people your nom de plume may represent. Your personality shines through in your posts and that is enough for me and others to see that at this stage of your life, you are no longer a winner. Esoteric posts are what you have been reduced to. So good luck.

I also assume that your frequent Youtube links are to do with 'Allo 'Allo. If so then thank you. I actually met Gordon Kaye from 'Allo 'Allo. Nice chap. Gay as well. Perhaps you and Stevie can attempt to denigrate him now.

    Many of us remember

    DoD “I am NOT Think!”
    “I am NOT Think!”
    “I am NOT Think!”

'OK, I'm Think. ...But I had you turnips running, I did, ja ja ja ja ja ja “

and I remember Think logging in under ”Surfer's“ name and continuing his ”Think” persona's argument.

Sorry, Think de Plume, gotcha dead to rights er, 'writes'

    “103 Doveoverdover
OK, I admit it. Fair Cop. I'm Think, Truth Telling Troll, Briton and a few more besides. The only decent thing for me to do is to re-role. It won't be as Viscount Townshend though, too much history. Bye for now.”

    @113 Think,
Thats because you'll never be me.
Well, you'd never fit into my clothes, for a start, my dear Think.
And l'll bet you have large clod-hopping feet!
    You'd wreck my shoes.
    And l don't like whiskey.
The seat would be too close to the steering wheel for you.
    Can you cook?
Plus you are a brainwashed anti-English malvinista.
l love the Falklands & l am an English patriot & proud of it, too.
So, no, l don't think you could EVER be me.

Replace the “English patriot” with “British patriot” and you sound almost like Mr. Doveoverdover.....

you got a Troll problem, Ma'am?

I only ask because ThinkVoiceOver was just on another thread, licking the boot heels of Elaine to get attention.

Hint* He liked it when she made him apologise for being “wrong”

    Good luck

You can try to twist and turn as much as you like Think and it seems you have a new best friend who seems willing to be your new sidekick. Honestly it doesn't matter simply because you are that ineffective that you felt the need to create sockpuppets in the first place.

Good luck to you no matter how many logins you have on here. You, Still boring A_Voice and Stevie Duck have thrown your best at me and failed time after time. If that is the best that Argentina can show the world then it is no wonder that you are in the midst of yet another economic crisis and still can't reclaim your mythical Malvinas.

    @118 Troy Tempest,
Nothing l can't handle, thanks Troy.
Think is easy to beat & l don't think that A_Voice would be much harder.
He's a wee bit sarcastic, while my old sparring partner, Think baby, is just a bit doddery.
l feel just a bit sorry for him in a way, as he's NEVER going to see the Falklands ruled by Argentina.
He's a sneaky little article though.
