The future of oil exploration lies in new technology--from massive data-processing supercomputers to 4D seismic to early-phase airborne spy technology that can pinpoint prospective reservoirs. Read full article
The new technology, developed by Calgary's NXT Energy Solutions, has the ability to pinpoint prospective oil and gas reservoirs and to determine exactly what's still there from a plane moving at 500 kilometers an hour at an altitude of 3,000 meters.
SFD detects subtle changes in earth's gravitational field.
This'll be no doubt modified and developed for military application. Submarines wont last long in the future.
Unless they can modify gravity somehow... which may be just a lil difficult.
Similar principle technology exist already to detect submarines... Magnetic anomaly detector (MAD) has being around since WW 2 and its what the P 3 Orions have in their tails.
You'll just have time to read the menu before the waiter delivers the bill.
FOGL might be interested in this although drilling already planned for this year and 2015. Those Exhaustive 3D surveys are reported to have found some excellent potential for the old black stuff. Lets hope so.

I find this hard to believe this could ever be used to find a submarine.
5 - So it can detect subtle changes but not a giant piece of metal.
