“The first to take the baton was the Captain of the Clyde Lieutenant Commander Sarah Oakley”

Are all the Captains in the Royal Navy called Sarah??? Can't you get to drive a ship these unless you are called Sarah?

It's another good piece of publicity for the Falklands Islands.... Can't wait for the day they send their own team to the games!!!

Morning Joe!!! I hope everyone is well. It hasn't rained here for 3 days now, everyone at work is asking themselves whether this is the summer come early or whether it's just a break in between storms....

Still, I took a leaf out of your book and spent the morning on Saturday in the garden, never again!! Those weeds are tough to pull up you know.. Mrs Tooold and I even managed to coax / lure Offspring 1 out of his pit to help, with the promise of a beer if he actually got his hands dirty.....

Kids huh? I used to be one myself y'know........

I'm not sure whether runners and shooters count as a whole team as such but the Islanders have been gracing the Commonwealth games for some years now.

Very strange for a country that according to the trolls is not a 'nation' and according to Argentina does not exist.

But hopefully the Islanders will be able to take part in more events, and have a quiet word with Grenada (if they turn up).

You are absolutely right about it being good publicity. Perhaps Gollum will complain to the UN that the Falkland Islands compete in the Commonwealth Games? I mean how dare they without Gollum's permission.

“To compete in the Commonwealth Games, you have to train in a Commonwealth Country.”

Youth is wasted on the young Too Old, that's for sure but no doubt he'll turn out a chip off the old block.

And all those poor argies, looking on from the cliff tops ,
wishing they were part of a great commonwealth family,

thus missing out on all the fun and games..

“And all those poor argies, looking on from the cliff tops”

Was it not Groucho Marx who once said that “I would never join a club that would have me as a member”

It would a sad, sad day for the commonwealth family if argentina was allowed in.

    very true,
but denying CFK her popcorn, and coke,
is worth it, just to see the look on the plastic mould.
