Thanks Briton, we felt absolutely nothing in the central area of Chile. The quakes we have are having is the price we pay for living on the ring of fire. It's curious that Bachelet left office in 2010 with a 8.8 and just returned again to an 8.2...
    ...que suerte....

Lat night I was watching a program on BBC on a super tsunami in the waiting. One of the islands in the Canaries has a massive fault line which will eventually rupture causing the west coast of the island to plunge into the sea. This will lead to a tsunami 1km high by 300km long radiating into the Atlantic travelling at 1200 kph. The coastal area of N.Africa, S.Spain and Portugal will be destroyed.
By the time it reaches the UK it will have diminished but still cause serious damage and loss of life.

The situation in N.America , the Gulf and Brazil would be catastrophic.
The wave would be about 100 metres high and travel up to 300 kms inland. A terrifying thought.
When I woke up this morning and listened to the news, the first item was a tsunami warning in Chile. Even a 2 metre wave can cause widescale damage and lead to loss of life. I have just been watching the latest bulletin on the BBC 1 o'clock news and it seems that 6 people were killed but the tsunami was only about 2 metres high so a real disaster was averted . I hope that is the end of the story.

My Shileno builder and his wife come from an area just north of that damaged.

Fortunately they learnt early this morning that their families are OK. His wife just opened her hands and said “it’s Chile, things like this will always happen”.
