Almirante Irizar, The Rg icebreaker has been under “repair” since 2008. So far they think they've spent about U$200MM in repairs.

Can't you build a new ship in 6 yrs for less money?
And they wonder why the world laughs at them.

The picture looks like a LegoLand exhibit.
    .............
“One of the final frontiers in the world where there is still much discovery to be done are the polar oceans. Britain must continue to have a presence in these parts of the world.”

Ah, yes .. the dreaded final front ear.
(Just love those old jokes from my kids growin' up!)

The T45, river class, Queen Elizabeth Super Carriers and Astute looked like Lego models not too long ago. They don't anymore!

We design and build awesome ships.

Don't the argies have revolutionary new destroyer-submarines? At the flick of a switch, a destroyer turns over and becomes a submarine. Then it dives to the bottom of the sea. That's as far as they've got so far. And there's anoher development. Combat aircraft with “disposable” wings. They take off and the wings drop away, braining someone somewhere below. There's the odd teething problem. Landing!

@9 - Argentine innovation at work, by Jove they've only gone an invented a Navy vessel running on renewable sources. Wind Power! Who'd of thought the Libertard could be quite so ground breaking?!

Thankfully for the sensible free world we've engineers and scientists who give us nuclear fission and hopefully soon fusion.

Give it 100 years and the Argentine navy may have coal steamers, just in time for the space age.
