A Gibraltarian who served as an officer in the Royal Navy has been appointed as the new chief executive and Captain of the Port of Gibraltar. Bob Sanguinetti, who rose to the rank of Commodore in the British navy, will replace Captain Roy Stanbrook, who resigned from the post earlier this year.

The former mariner served at sea and commanded Royal Navy warships before working at the Ministry of Defense in a number of strategic roles. Most recently he was Head of Intelligence at the UK’s National Operations Headquarters in North London.

He is a Younger Brother of Trinity House, a Yachtmaster Offshore and has wide experience of management and planning. Married with three daughters, he is looking forward to returning to his birthplace and contributing to the well-being and continuing development of the port.

“We look forward to welcoming Bob Sanguinetti home,” said Neil Costa, the Minister for Tourism, Commercial Affairs, Public Transport and the Port.

“We are sure that his experience and knowledge of maritime matters will allow him to manage the port efficiently and effectively.”

“The port is a major economic player in Gibraltar with an impact on the lives of many people. I am sure that Bob will provide the leadership and drive to continue the growth and development of the Port”.

Sanguinetti - NB Argentine trolls! He is BRITISH - NOT Argentino, in spite of his name.

He also knows how to defend a port from foreign incursion
and can handle the spy-game that Spain practice as part of their disinformation campaign.
He should be able to control the illegal shipments that come from Africa - contraband and 'immigrants'.

I'm sure that, if necessary, he can drop fresh cement blocks in his port.
