Putin has revived the Soviet-era practice of staging massive displays of military power...
Translation: Deeply insecure about the size of his 'manhood'.
The portrayal of raw power.
May 03rd, 2014 - 11:13 am - Link - Report abuse 0Putin has decided that this is the correct time to remind the world that the Russia of Stalin is always there, ready to crush those that challenge it - excluding the USA and China, of course.
And if Putin's Russia wants to re-configure the states of the old USSR, then Russia is challenging the world to stand up and say So far and no further! There seems little evidence of strength of will in the Western world to say this.

the cold war was merely put on hold in the microwave until it was needed again,
the Russian bear, no matter how old its equipment, is still powerfull enough to do his bidding,
and the western cutbacks, especially Britain, [under the guise, we are all friends now, get rid of everything]]
will surely come back to haunt everyone of us,
we reap what we sow, sending 4 jets and 100 men may look impressive,
but with over 100,000 troops tanks planes and ships on the door step,
impressive may well be short sighted.
just my opinion.
@5 Oh yes, he has numbers. Now do some research. When has ANY Russian aircraft put down a Western aircraft unless it was 10 to 1? When has any current Russian tank stopped a Challenger 2? The answer to the latter is NEVER. I reckon that, as development stands, Britain's Challenger 2 is unbeatable. 2003 saw 120 Challenger 2s in action against the Iraqis. NO losses. And never forget that RAF and AAC pilots are the best in the world!
