Not what they were hoping for I guess.

GOOD!
they keep putting their foot in it,.
May 21st, 2014 - 12:12 pm - Link - Report abuse 0We do our best on here, but Gibraltar must ACT. Back when the Overseas Territories Consultation was in full swing I recommended that appropriate OTs set out to denounce the actions of belligerent neighbours and explain the truth. It seems that the Falklands took that suggestion and ACTED on it. Isn't there a constant stream of articles, statements, press releases that go out explaining how argieland lies, how it breaches the UN Charter and international law, how well the Falklands are doing despite argieland? Why didn't Gibraltar do the same? It has just as much opportunity to explain why spain has NO claim. Why there ARE British Gibraltar Territorial Waters? There were a few stories about the queues at the frontier. But where were the pictures of spanish state vessels blatantly invading Gibraltar waters on a daily basis? Of their dangerous manoeuvres? Of their assistance to spanish poachers and thieves? Of their refusal to comply with Royal Navy warnings? Where are the up-close videos of Guardia Civil thugs shooting at Gibraltarians in Gibraltar waters? The pictures and videos of spanish boats close to Gibraltar beaches to take on smuggled goods? And there are reports that smuggled goods, in far greater quantities, arrive in the ports of Algeciras and Barcelona. Where are the pictures? How many container loads? Why aren't the spanish controls the same as at Gibraltar? How about the dirty tricks the spanish got up to to persuade the US Navy to go to Rota instead of Gibraltar?
May 21st, 2014 - 02:20 pm - Link - Report abuse 0Gibraltar needs to get its finger out. Push the information out. Day are day. Week after week. Month after month. Year after year. Until the UK government is shamed into acting. Until organisations like the EU and NATO start telling spain that it would be better if it wasn't a member!
Agreed.

May 21st, 2014 - 08:14 pm - Link - Report abuse 0Also agree-whilst Britain can pull a few strings,(as with possibly withdrawing support for the Olympics in Spain) they will have to do more if Gib makes more of a noise. When Bullies like Argentina and Spain have their lies chucked back at them/challenged, they (Spain/Argentina)will have two choices. Up the ante, which will bring more support from the UK, or back off.
They don't like it up em.
What a carry on!
